That Gentleman is an absolute treasure to electric guitar history. What a great guy.
Grover is the man! Already looking into a Vintage S as I type this. Also the relic on my Vintage T is perfect !!!
How cool is Grover? I love Grover for being the one who worked with Randy Rhoads on his Concorde design and that the guitar is still being produced 37 years later. Means the world to those of us who love Randy and want his legacy to endure.
Grover seems like an awesome, soft spoken, and expert craftsmen. Glad to see he's making Tosin's Larada guitars as well, makes me want one!
Grover Jackson = the man. Thx for the video!
Glad to see Grover still at it and still setting the standard and innovation of high end guitars.
Sold, i bought a friedman NOHO and never looked back, it's incredible. I sold my CS fender and a custom les paul after i got my NOHO 24.
Thats cool that Grover sprays every Friedman guitar! Makes me want one more, only not relic'ed..lol
Me as well! đ
@Ron Gillespie also 4k

Very humble for a living legend. I own two Friedman calis, they're great!
Grover is The Man!!!đđžđ€đŒđŻ%
Met him back in the early 90's, he came into the GC i worked at in West Covina. Only person who recognized him... got his autograph. cool dude.
Excellent video and Grover is an artist who cares deeply of his craft and articulates it eloquently.
Life goals: own a guitar made by Grover Jackson. Seriously.
Yes, agree
He is a master artisan
you should get one man. Those are the best guitars you can buy imo
If you haven't yet, do it. I picked up a 2019 Vintage T last year and it's probably the best decision I've ever made.
@@TM42 Same!
Thanks Grover and Dave
Wow , what a joy to watch. Thank you Sweetwater. JP
great video guys! Grover seems like a cool dude who really loves what he does.
Very cool video for a guitar geek. This is why I buy from Sweetwater! I'll still never understand relicing a guitar.
Grover is the man! Best guitar builder ever.
*Paul Reed Smith has joined the chat*
@@lorenhartman801 Grover Jackson was making guitars when Paul Smith was still in high school. I'm not knocking PRS at all, but 'cmon man. :)
Grover pioneered compound radius fret boards FFS...
@@lorenhartman801 How much times does Paul spend in the workshop nowadays?
I have to say, I think Bill Collings is up there as one of the best to ever build as well.
They look stunning!
I think this is the best video sweetwater has put out. Thanks. More like this please!
Beautiful video, and what gentlemen
I understand the knock on the relic'd guitars. But I just had a relic'd noho shipped to me to try out. Best playing guitar I ever put my hands on and I've owned the best of the best. The neck was just incredibly smooth. It's hard to explain but the guitar just has a cool vibe to it. Like a broke in pair of 501's.
And Dave said it best...a relic-ed guitar is no longer "drowned in finish" (paint and clear coat), the wood can resonate more freely and RING better...i think it's brilliant
S.... Thanks for sharing this us . This is great I like the Video . Troy Frost troyster đCool Riffs
Such a cool video!
That is so cool!
So if hes a big believer in technology and these machines replaced workers than the price of the guitars should be very low then?
A living legend!
legendary man!
9:34 DANZIG!!! đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€
These are gorgeous guitars.
Expensive here in Canada, but maybe one day
Awesome Grover ÂĄ
Very nice
"He is a master of the relic process"

Marty friedman is playing jackson guitars again, grover jackson at friedman guitars, how ironic.
I have heard they are quite good
Great tour, too bad we didn't see any finished guitars
You'll have to buy oneđđđ
so awesome! That multicolor angelwing Metro D is mine... canât wait to get it!
will you lick it?
EytschPi42 I wanna know that too
Saw your video on that. Can't wait to see the result too! Do you know if they offer roasted flamed maple necks? Can't find that info anywhere. But they are a custom shop so I'd imagine it'd be possible, right?
as for the licking.... well, itâs already mine, so no need to do that!
As for the roasted maple... just call and find out, but I think they could do that!
Super cool guitars and Grover is awesome. But with all the automation, not sure why theyâre so expensive?
Prestige (Grover name) and Quality and Demand. Usually cost cutting is for them not for us, unfortunately. Have yet to find someone who hated their Friedman tbh. But yeah cmon lets bring that Noho price down ;)
Travis McGillicutty of Bend, Oregon is the true master of relic finishes.
Is he with TMG?
I really wish the relicing was an option. Itâs WAY overdone on Friedmans stuff. I walked away from three Friedmanâs yesterday in Orlando because the relicing looked like ass. Itâs a damn shame.
Is there such a thing as relicking a guitar based on the purchasers tendencies, wedding ring scuffs, watch dings, bracelet marring, certain picking techniques etc? I do believe this is the way to go when it comes to relicking because then there will be a certain synergy with the client. :) I mean, why have a guitar relicked based on someone else tendencies and parameters? :)
WHAT>>> is that I see??? A Boss amp @14:30ish at a Friedman factory!!!
I'm in shock... lol
:0
Interesting đź
Is It they Grover Jackson who started Jackson?
peep the boss katana in the background at 15:00
Where in Laguna Hills is this factory?
50 years from now I think that people will laugh thinking that we use to make a perfect product then we destroy it a little just to not be perfect. It is so weird!!
plek just the neck? does anyone offer that service where i ship them my neck and they plek it?
Buying one of these could be like buying a 60s Strat, 30yrs from now. đ€
Itâs insane how much Grover looks and sounds just like Michael Reynolds (the Earthship house creator dude)
Iâm all for American jobs but guitars hand made in posh Laguna Hills? How much will one of these fine axes take me out? Loving all cool vids Swearwater thanks. Always enjoy shopping with you guys.
Technology makes for a better guitar. Handbuilding is romantic but impractical in the modern era.
I'll take my romantic pre cbs strats
đ
We need Friedman vâs
Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that his name is GROVER JACKSON?
Wait. Doesnât he mean topography rather than topology?
Kevin Hoover he does
Right, and:
Topography = the arrangement of the natural and artificial physical features of an area.
"the topography of the island"
a detailed description or representation on a map of the natural and artificial features of an area.
Here's a useful comparison of topology vs. topography.
wikidiff.com/topology/topography
Camera guy needs to keep still!
I'm sure they are awesome guitars, but does this level of automation leave any room for craftsmanship? Looks like they hardly have to do anything but spray them..
Beautiful finishes except for the relics canât understand why you want a new guitar to look old. When a guitar gets nicks, scratches and dents along the road of life it has a real history your history your story not something manufactured or faked.đž
yea I get it, my 79 Les Paul is beat to crap and I love it but my first ding on my soloist sucked big time and made the guitar $500 cheaper, with these I can play it, ding it, still hold value, great guitar!
So no pic of any guitars !!
Grover Jackson works for Friedman? or is an employed.
He is a subcontractor
Ok.
What a messy workshop. Not a place where ultimate quality is being produced.
oops he said "fender"
Dave's not here!
I would have thought Dave would be making a neck through design rather than set neck or bolt on....for that kind of money for me, that is the deal breaker.
dude thats chong
Sad...
Awful pricey for all that machine work. Friedman's making a mint. Or, that's just how much Grover Jackson cost.
The only Flaw with these Guitar's, is they are made in The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia!!
As much as the other stuff is great, the part when they showed that they also do the relic thing, that was cringe inducing and made me lose most of the respect that has built up until then.
I guess most companies today will gladly destroy their own stuff if people will pay more for it, rather than staying competent and true to their quality products.
Like if his name was Gibson Fender...
Itâs funny Jackson pioneered so many things , but to be honest the relics are a waste! Let it wear over time !! These guitars are way more advanced than the big F !
Damn, the relic work makes me cringe. You silly, guitar players.
Everybody is entitled to their own thing, but I personally cannot understand the relic craziness going on. To each their own, I guess.
The Plek makes up for poor workmanship.
Not really.
It's a time saver. Levelling frets by hand when your making volume orders is a no go, and machine sanding requires too frequent refreshing of the media itself. Plek is just CNC for frets. If I could afford one, I would have one.
@Electricary not quite, it really does depend on the programing, Look for instance at Gibson. All their plek'd guitars still play and feel like garbage. Then pick up any Suhr on the planet and get back to us
@@nickh1933 Yes, you have to have some idea about what your doing -but they are hardly rocket science.
The Plek is faster and more accurate than any human being. Its not just about level frets either. It also crowns the frets properly -which helps with intonation. Especially on large wide frets. You can also program a âfalling offâ of the upper frets if you want.
My only concern is that they are doing the Plek neck scan with the necks off the guitars. The most accurate way to scan the neck is to have it on the guitar and tuned to pitch. But this takes more time. They probably have a jig to simulate string load to get it right. But Iâd like to see it and judge for myself. Gibson does this.
Just received my Vintage T...these guitars are the real deal.
