      +Mini Mini Not really. The inhibitor chip explanation is much more plausible. Had the clones known about order 66 beforehand, the Jedi would have found out before it ever happened. Jedi, especially those on the council, are adept at sensing and reading thoughts. It may not have worked on the high-ranking clones, but a low-level Private? They wouldn't have been able to hide their guilt about the impending executive order. Yoda would have read one of them like a book. With the chips, the clones had no idea that order 66 was even a thing, so none of them were feeling any sort of anxiety or guilt about it, beforehand. This element of surprise is what made it so effective. There was almost zero chance of the Jedi finding out about it. Also important to note that without the inhibitor chip that essentially forces them to carry out order 66, there would likely have been many more clones who would have rebelled and refused to carry out the order - due to their immense respect and admiration for their Jedi commanders who fought alongside them in battle.

    What I remember about the rise of Disney, is how quiet is was. During the whaning months of the Clone Wars animated series, Lucasfilm was discreetly transferred back to the studios. It was a silent trip, we all knew what was about to happen, what they were about to do. Did we have any doubts, any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but nobody listenend. Not on the new board of directors, not when the script got written and not when we marched into the theatres. Not a word.

      CapColdblood I'd prefer if disney never happened and we could place that it was only after the chips were activated that these thoughts of this clone could've happened. When The Clone wars series came and so did the chips, it just made things even more confusing when you are listening to this. Yet let's be glad the two are separated now well sort of.

    • @UnchainedEruption
      @UnchainedEruption Před 7 lety +156

      Jacob Jimenez I hate the idea of the "chips." Mostly because it takes the blames off the clones and makes the war one-dimensional, which is the exact opposite of what Lucas was trying to show through the prequels. The whole point is that there were no real winners and no good guys to root for, which is often what war is really like (think ww1). There were people on both sides whose plight was understandable and people on both sides who were evil and manipulative seeking power. The clones themselves were essentially just mercenaries, like Battle Droids. They follow orders to the dot, whether they want to or not. They were also genetically modified to be more docile (except for ARC Troopers, Republic Commandos, and certain generals, but most clones were.) Nonetheless, they were still living beings consciously making a wrong decision because from their perspective it really looked like the Jedi were attempting to overthrow the republic and they had been brainwashed and trained only to defend the "republic," no matter how bloated, corrupt, and totalitarian it was.

    • @jacobjimenez6753
      @jacobjimenez6753 Před 7 lety +24

      Karl Hiramanek Look what we know is of the clone wars series and lets be honest here the show did explain alot what other previous attempts (movie and etc) couldn't. Now What you're going on about is of the now legends or old canon. Again when the clone wars came out and the chips it was confusing. Now did the clones know about the order yes, but it was not meant for a large scale massacre as we saw in the movies. Now wouldn't it make more sense that what the clones and jedi had gone through together formed a bond of which would've been too difficult to break and let go/ betray if the order came and they didn't have the chips? Yes in the old canon there was many interesting and great stories of the war yet the involvement of the jedi encouraging the clones to think independently would've been very strong. This would've been so strong that without the chips the clones would've been too resistant to comply with the order. As we've seen in legends and now canon clone wars, the clones were brave, loyal, and had close friendships with their jedi generals. Honestly to me it makes way more sense of them being forced into complying with order 66 instead of doing so without hesitation. The without chip story just threw away the influence and friendship the jedi gave to the clones, it just doesn't seem fitting.

    • @UnchainedEruption
      @UnchainedEruption Před 7 lety +55

      Jacob Jimenez No they wouldn't. Episode 2 already said the clones were genetically modified to be more docile and follow every command. Then on top of that they were essentially brainwashed all their life into believing the Republic is always right. That's more than enough to make them loyal. You don't need chips.
      Yes, the clones still felt emotional ties to their Jedi commanders. But they did not dare question their orders and risk insubordination.
      "What I remember about the fall of the Jedi...is how quiet it was. A contingent of the 501st was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. Did we have any doubts, any private, traitorous thoughts? Maybe. But no one said a word. Not on the ride to Coruscant. Not when we marched into the jedi temple. Not when Order 66 went down. Not a word."

    • @jacobjimenez6753
      @jacobjimenez6753 Před 7 lety +10

      Karl Hiramanek ok look yes the movies said they were docile, and we're modified with beliefs, however what you forget is that what you've stated is no longer canon nor is it true. The part of the clone journal is legends now, the part about them following orders no matter what is false. We've seen clones disobey orders in the clone wars series. Remember Umbara? They were ordered to keep moving even to do so and ignore the clear loss of soldiers that would happen, they went along part way yet they devised their own plan and went along with it even despite the generals opposition. They did so again when it came to taking out the air supplies the umbaran militia was receiving from the sepertists. They did this to avoid any further casualties and showed clear regard for life when it came to lives being at stake. Stop going on old canon, it's now irrelevant, were they modified yes, but they were not completely compliant as we've seen in the clone wars. It makes total sense and if old canon was still canon it would go against the morals that the clones clearly showed in the clone wars series.

    Bit of revisionist history with the ending but perhaps I can give something for if the campaign had continued to Endor.
    *501st Journal - Endor Orbit*
    *Second Chances*
    "While we had believed that the rebellion had been defeated on Hoth and sent scattering over the galaxy, a straggler group of rebel forces had amassed near Sullest and planned to take out the new Death Star hovering above the forest moon of Endor. Needless to say the men of the 501st weren't exactly eager for a repeat of what happened over Yavin IV despite their increadably low odds but we didn't take any risks plus it was a chance to make up for not protecting the Death Star the first time. So the men of the 501st took to our ships and engaged the rebellion one more time for old time's sake. Even though we felt this was the end, we wanted it to end with a bang."
    "As we received word that a strike team had begun an attack to destroy the shield generator protecting the Death Star, the 501st tore through enemy fighters in space and landed on the planet. It was time to put this rebellion to bed for good."
    *501st Journal - Endor*
    *Our Final Stand*
    "As we landed on the forest moon, we knew that things had become a mess near the bunker where the generator was located but we didn't expect the natives to put up a fight with such primitive weaponry which caught us all off-guard. Regardless we pressed on and while we didn't know this would be the final stand for the 501st, we were going to make sure it was a memorable battle and finally bring peace to the galaxy ."
    "As the Death Star exploded from orbit, we realized the battle was over but not initially. As we fought on we slowly realized we were fighting a battle we couldn't win but we made our stand and lost alot of good men on that dark day. I now sit in a rebel cell as I dictate this journal waiting to be tried for my actions. Do we regret what we did? All the atrocities we committed in the name of the emperor? Perhaps some but I don't. This was the story of a legion of men who fought and bled together as one, a group who could make planets quiver in fear and respect at the mention of our name and while history may not look kind upon us and what we did I wouldn't change a thing if I could do it over again and I will always be proud of the men I served with. This was the story...Of the 501st."

  • @the_fat_oracle4290
    @the_fat_oracle4290 Před 6 lety +123

    "After the victory at Hoth, the 501st retired from frontline combat, after what should be deemed an adequate service to the Empire. We really were convinced that the rebellion fad had blown over, and that the ever-mounting tension across the galaxy had begun to finally ease itself. I knew some rebel's would've survived Hoth, but I couldn't have ever anticipated their strong number's after such a crippling defeat. The majority had amassed upon the forest moon of Endor, so reports stated. They had persistence, impenetrable persistence, we couldn't have matched as such. It wasn't long until the Emperor ordered his main fleets to the outer stretches of Endor, where they'd slowly close in on the forest moon.
    What amazed me was he amount of 501st veteran's that reenlisted for this battle. I guess they felt the same way I did, we felt as if we hadn't done our duty, since the rebel threat hadn't deterred; the galaxy was still very much at war. We didn't want to see the empire we'd helped forge over such a period, collapse into nothingness. We were old men by this point, but we still knew how to fight. Unlike these new enlisters, we didn't fight through demanded protocol, we fought off our own backs through our own decisions, we were fuelled by rage and the craving for vengeance. After seeing the loss of so many fellow soldiers and dear friends at the hand of the rebel scum, it would leave me forever indebted to the 501st's past forces not to help finish what We started so many years ago..."

I personally prefer the old canon as it makes Order 66 much more impactful to the clones and it made for great story explorations. CGI is faaaar better then in moder movies and that can be seen in bluray and flatscreen with surround sound, unique expirience
      You believe that stone age teddy bears defeated strongest imperial legion like in ep VI? That was comedy. Rebels could when arrive with fleet send soldiers down and that would be realistic while what ep VI done was joke. Ep I made better fight Gungans vs Droids and gungans had chance because they had some technology. How Rebel fleet even survive against Imperial fleet that had more and better ships on their side.
      And Leia being Skywalkwer was comic and put last minute so that Luke had more to fight for.
      Entire OT is just comedy repeat destroying death star in IV and Vi, great villians like Boba Fett was never used unlike Jango Fett and his battle strenght vs Obi Wan plus his excellent ship.

      Duel of the Fates
      Rise of Palpatine
      Ep. 2
      Civil war in Republic. Separatist with leader Count Dooku which is one of best characters in prequels. Palpatine started his scheme to bring close Anakin and Padme to make him that eventuale choose between Jedi and Her making him susceptible to dark side. Palpatine worked on turning Anakin from Ep II asking for him and Obi Wan to protect her knowing how Anakin feels toward Padme..
      Also on note that in Ep II Anakin was creepy in his approach toward Padme is easily understood because Anakin as Jedi should never be in position to make advance toward girls because Jedi lives in celibate and he was teen who didn't know better.
      Jedi is huge numbers.
      Creation of Clone Army and their first battle where they had many Jedi, control over air with those gunships and Capital ships.
      Ep. 3
      Great space battle at beginning, great swordfight soon after.
      Palpatine started to pull strings to show that jedi planning something against democracy while he worked on Anakin to show him that he need to look force from all angles if he want to be most powerful to save life of his wife. We realize that clone army was trap because they was created by Sidious and Count Dooku to create conflict and had army loyal to Palpatine/Sidious.
      Killing of Jedies under cover of their rebellion against Republic
      Palpatine play with Anakin emotions and leading to moment where he choose between Jedi Order that doesn't trust him and Sidious who claim that can save his wife from death.
      Anakin chooses side that would I because he had no reason to be loyal to jedies because they don't trust him.
      While Palpatine put Galaxy under his control in senat, Anakin started to kill potential enemies to bring peace to his new empire.
      Leading to this Fight on Mustafar where Obi Wan won and didn't kill him because he still was The Chosen One and sooner or later Obi Wan knew that he would destroy Emperor.
      Before mask he wasnt full on dark side which show that he cried after he killed everyone on Mustafar.
      He just went on dark side to find way to save Padme from death.
      After cutting Mace Windu hand he didn't have any other option anyhow.
      Prequels develop cast and story in remarkable way.
      Just from beginning how Sidious become Chancelor, his manipulation of senate, both side of war and Anakin and ultimatly leading to Anakin cut hand of Mace Windu to stop him to kill Sidious because Palpatine had knowledge how to save his wife.
      After being part of killing Windu, Anakin choosed his side and he cannot go back so he accepted, otherwise he would be also killed by Clones and his wife would die certanly.
      Great story connect prequels, and that is story of rise of Dark Side while story of OT is boring except Vader, Emperor and Luke final clash.
      Obi Wan from young angry padawan grew to one of the best jedi, Anakin from Teen with long crush toward Padme and having no control of emotion because Jedi teachings that emotions don't exist to great warrior, Padme becomed senator later and among first started to talk about rebelion which can be seen in deleted scenes.
      Haters like to joke about line I don't like Sand which is not bad as they make it to be because why would Anakin have any good feelings about Tatooine where he was slave.
      Still he return despite all that sand to try to save his mother.
      Luke's story was brilliant and I like him very much because of his point of view. He was last real Jedi after Qui Gon that followed what Force told him and not what Yoda and Obi want who told Luke that he must kill Vader. Luke went his own way and redemed his father.
      Anakin story was darker and was forbidden for him to see if feelings and premonitions that he had about his mother suffering and dying making Jedi guilty for his fall in darkness.
      Later when he had same premonitions about Padme, he knew that this will come to pass so he acted.
      Palpatine played him from ep 2 asking for Obi Wan and Anakin to protect Padme from hitman knowing how Anakin feels toward Padme because Palpatine was only one who Anakin consider as father and he told him how he like Padme even before he saw her again in ep 2.
      Palpatine when he revealed that was Sith lord told Anakin that he can save his wife from dying and when Mace was ready to kill Palpatine, Anakin disarm him, didn't mean to kill him, but Palpatine used oppening and killed Mace and after that Anakin choosed his side because he played part in killing leading member of Jedi council so life he knew was over so he went with side that had possibility to save Padme and Jedi constantly undermined Anakin not giving him recognition he deserved and was obvious that Obi Wan was jealous of Anakin power holding him back.
      Also love story between Padme and Anakin wasn't bad because we can see how Padme changed toward him when they went alone on Naboo making him jealous, starting to know him better and see how he care for others. When Anakin was in pain of loosing mother and murder entire tribe of Tusken raiders, he was in real pain claiming that he will become more powerful so that can save others from death at same time he was in horrible grief because killing Tuskens although they they were monsters, tortured his mother for month and killed majority of peoples that went search for her. Padme saw that he was good but made bad choice.
      Only funny part was Anakin aproach to Padme at beginning of Ep 2, but he had crush on her 10 years and Jedi don't teach about that kind of fellings so he was just teen that didn't knew playing cool.
      And he was slave on Tatooine and later slave to Jedi order while Padme being Queen and later senator also having no relationship as she said that last crush was when she had 12 years. Also in extended scenes this was also mention.
      So they were both kids falling in love not having prior expirience while their civilization was falling apart around them.
      As Dooku said in extended editions to Padme and Anakin:
      Republic cannot be saved.
      Prequels gave us better story of Fall, they explained universe better and had better action scenes.

      TFA 4/10
      TLJ 1/10
      Solo 4/10
      Rogue 1 4/10
      Rogue 1 would have 5/10 if were epic scenes like in EP I-VI
      But cast was forgettable and story wasn't needed.
      Prequels had better shots/ directing, stories/characters, humor, villains, imagery, payoffs, lore, effects, style and world. They added tons while still being familiar, for new and old regular audiences. Brought in new fans in a nice way. They did it well despite raging nerds that overpraised the dated originals that simply cannot stand on its own.?
      Star Wars from I to VI are not without bad stuffs but epicness of both trilogies outweight few bad moments.
      But need to mention that OT had many flaws in same area like PT
      Bad acting or wierd lines that peoples don't say things like that etc... but this is story about galaxy far away where peoples dealing with things that you don't see in movies that happen on earth.
      So I never mind that because story told is great.
      Prequels show transformation of Anakin, Rise of empire and Palpatine, fall of jedi.
      What was Jedi and their powers which we never get in OT what abilities force gives except force choke, force lighting and weak mind control.
      Shows more of universe and that is thing everyone want because you have entire galactic to explain and explore.

      The clones didn't know what the end goal was other than fighting for their Chancellor. They killed the Jedi because they genuinely believed they had betrayed the Republic. However, they knew about Order 66 because unlike what TCW showed, it was a contingency order known to the Senate.

      TBH it can be consolidated. It is to be expected that at least some clones would come to despise Jedi like the rest of galaxy, 501st just hapened to being legion full of them. And that's why they became "Vaders Fist", since they required no brainwashing.

      @@odinatra The clones' feelings towards the Jedi really depended on how competent their assigned Jedi general was as a tactician. Those who were under talented generals like Anakin and Obi-Wan tended to respect them. But when Order 66 came, it made little difference because most clones would do anything to protect their government.
