If Starship becomes operational and has sufficient cost reductions, it may be possible to return some part(s) of ISS to Earth to study and/or refurbish.
The two SpaceLab modules that NASA used on SpaceShuttle missions (anchored in payload bay) have be sold to private enterprises to be upgraded to become modules of commercial space stations. Axiom Space is one of these commercial space station project. The other possibility is some of ISS modules could be reconfigured, or moved to another space station if a space tub was available. They have value for commercial space activities. Not to mention ESA and Japan both have their own modules.

Among other things, energy production is a very interesting topic, as is using it as a skyhook (only knew this as a way for spies to escape with planes, but now saw that it also exists in space travel, as a method to speed up vehicles or satellites. Look also space tether: I was wondering if the space tether simply got stuck on the Agena Target Docking Vehicle in 1966? Wouldn't that be particularly dangerous in terms of collisions due to its size? Well, there was probably more space up there back then...).

Hey Scott Manley what are your thoughts of a “blown wing” blimp I think that it would solve the ballast issue for cargo, and that the fact that it had a larger area than just a conventional wing, allows it to have a higher potential lifting force

at 11:48 Ursa Major mentioned, with Stratolaunch. That test stand video reminded me of Virgin Orbit's stands at Mojave. Mentioned they (SL or UM?) bought VO's Cosmic Girl (just the plane or the Mojave properties)? Loved VO, hope all their stuff gets put to good use.

Nice review of all that's going on. As always.
On the subject of Voyager 1, perhaps they should turn the heater back on when requesting transmissions. I mean the computers started sending garbage right after they turned the heat off. Duhhh!!

I was thinking the same, but they might have to sacrifice another instrument to reduce the risk of crashing the flight computer from too low voltage. Also, there was a voltage reg that was disabled recently as well that might be a factor. I can't recall the exact reason they did that other than power saving.

Concerning Voyager 1, I read an article that sounds like they've figured out that all the garbage data that Voyager has been sending back is actually a memory dump. How old school! If one isn't expecting that then I can see why they thought it was garbage.

So what's up with the Voyager simulator? Was it written in FORTRAN or some other 70s format they can't support or emulate? How hard would it be to write a new one? Or is it a hardware simulator that can't be fixed due to lack of old parts stock?
