As a non Brit I don't care what others say, when the Brits push the Pageantry/Ceremonial button it leaves all other countries flat and in the dust.

It's June 2024. I still can't watch these channels without the tears flowing. Queen Elizabeth II was my Queen - I was 8 when her father passed away so I lived through her entire reign. And what an amazing 70 years it was. With all my heart I wish she was still with us. Gone, but never forgotten. ❤
I wasn't born when she became Queen. But I did love and respect. Her..Not a fan of Charles but like William a lot.
I am still mourning our beloved Queen. I respect this commentator watching the proceedings with respect and without interruptions. RIP dear Queen Elizabeth 😢🇬🇧
@user-iq3mp5zo8z . Me too, I was 9 yrs old when my Queen was crowned, it was the reason my Dad got our first TV. I knew she was getting really old, like myself. But it still came as a shock when she died. I still can't watch her funeral without crying. GSTK.🇬🇧
The queen would have been so proud of the servicemen and women who participated in her funeral. They did her proud.
Did you know that Princess Anne went to every barracks where every young Royal Navy sailor was to personally thank them for honoring her mother by pulling her gun carriage? She was so moved by their dedication and perfection that she had to shake every sailor’s hand. I think that’s amazing….talk about dedication.
I served her majesty over 13 Years in the British Armed Forces. It was a privilege to salute her coffin on the first night of her lying in state.
Monarchy isnt “outdated” it is TIMELESS. Eternal. Never give it up.

As a patriotic Englishman I can honestly say that this was both the saddest and most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed. So proud to be British. Rest in Peace my Queen, and thank you so much for your dedication and loyalty to our people.

As soon as they started up i was overwhelmed with such sadness yet immense pride, they are a wonderful emotive sound, simply magnificent.

The Queen was head of state of 14 nations including Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc etc. They have all lost their Queen.
@@truckerfromreno I am a Canadian. Queen Elizabeth is the only monarch I had known.... up until her death. She was very much revered, and loved, respected. I am still thinking about what it means, now she is gone? Honestly, a lot of us Canadians are very sad, feel very empty. It is the end of an era. I think she was a lovely woman, as well as my Queen, and I will miss her. Very much.

I think the same men have been in action each say the coffin moved . I noted that the two members of the bearer party issuing commands have white gloves on , but that the bearer party have bare hands. Is this so they have better grip?
I feel the same about the pallbearers, such an honor but aiso such a great responability Itake my hat off to them and all who took part.

@@garytheplumber the pallbearers only arrived back in the UK about 2 weeks ago. They were on active duty in Afghanistan guarding the British Embassy there until then.

Several of the coffin bearers were serving in Iraq just a few days ago. They did their country proud.

One of the pall bearers is from the village in Nottinghamshire where I grew up. They marched with the gun carriage as well. Immensely proud today.

The BBC estimated that 5.1 BILLION people were watching, that's 63% of the population of the planet!
Those statistics are truly jaw dropping. When you consider many of the 37% dont have easy access to tv

This is absolutely magnificent! I am neither British nor a royalist, but boy, the Brits are the best in the world regarding pageantry. Their uniforms are stunning! I got quite emotional watching this.
We are the best and we now have a King who we all love.
There was actually a BBC TV program prior to funeral showing how the traditional tailoring methods were used to ensure the uniforms were perfect for the day. Only one tailors company are permitted to make/repair/alter the ceremonial uniforms and the patterns are sometimes hundreds of years old. All using actual gold thread!
It was fascinating to watch each soldier get individually measured and fitted.

The lads carrying the coffin done her proud..
Every member of all the forces on that day did the whole country Proud. Its like the Queen floated, not a jostle in sight. I am a bearer and they didn't put 1 single step wrong.
A soldier from our village was one of the Bearers.
The personal pulling the coffin and around it were from the Royal Navy one of the oldest military units in the world.
Followed by members of The Royal Family including her son's and Nephews
And HRH The Princess Anne the Queens only daughter.
That is a lead lined oak coffin. The boys did us proud. They were magnificent. The reason the Royal Navy pulls the gun carriage, during Queen Victoria's funeral procession the horses bolted.
Also the weight was around 250kg-317kg

You don't often see the navy parade. Last time i saw them in real life they were shoddy uniformed, scruffy, overweight and out of step. I can really be proud of this lot though who kept better time and line than the army. Well done.
According to The Times this morning, it was Prince Louis Battenberg, a German serving in the Royal Navy, who suggested having sailors pull the gun carriage at Queen Victoria’s funeral after it was damaged by the horses. Prince Louis became First Sea Lord in the First World War, changing his name to Mountbatten, was father to Lord Mountbatten and grandfather to Prince Philip.

As a Scot the most emotional part for me was. The lament by the lone piper when the Queen was lowered to the vault. Always very powerful. And i'm not a royalist.
I'm not a huge fan of the bagpipes but they sounded so right both here and in the lament by the lone piper.
The Queen said at Prince Philip's funeral, it was the lone piper at the end that almost undid her, and I can understand why.

The most poignant moment for me was when , at Windsor, the service after this one, the Sceptre, Orb and Mace, were removed from Queen Elizabeth 11 coffin and returned to the alter, It was as if the Queen had been uncrowned. I then felt as though the queen was gone.
Yes, me too. I was thinking of the coronation where the sceptre and orb are placed in her hands. Almost three quarters of a century later they are finally taken from her.

It was the undoing of her Coronation oaths. As such it struck me as a freeing of her from the oaths that have bound her.

The bagpipers brought a tear to my eye. The immense number of them along with the power of that sound and their regal march was breathtaking.
The moment when the bagpipes and drums started really got me. Incredible. No other country come close to the pomp and circumstance.

Hi Connor. On the day of Queen Victoria’s funeral in 1901, her coffin was to be carried on the gun carriage through the streets of Windsor but in the bitter cold of that February day, the horses which were going to pull it panicked and reared up, threatening to topple the coffin off the carriage.
Captain Prince Louis of Battenberg - the future First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy - intervened and suggested to the new monarch, Edward VII, that the senior assembled Royal Navy should step in. Ropes were found for them to pull the 3 tonne gun carriage. It became an immediate tradition and the same has happened for every state or ceremonial funeral since. The gun carriage used today is the same one used to carry Queen Victoria in 1901

Today I'm very proud to be British. We do this stuff better than anyone else in the world. The armed forces (particularly the bearer party), the police, security & support staff have done a marvelous job. God bless our departed Queen & I hail our new King. I'm not a royalist but sometimes you have to accept that pageantry has it's place in our history & culture. We will not see the likes of this for generations to come. This is history in the making which will be replayed time & again throughout time immemorial. God bless you Queen Elizabeth II for all your hard work for the UK, the Commonwealth & empathy for all faiths in the world. The world has much to to learn from your example.

I watched it from 9am, I cried I smiled, I remembered. My dad served all his adult life in the Army, she was part of our lives. Her family, her military and those awesome pallbearers did her proud ❤

I,v just finished watching all the service at the Cathedral then the service at Windsor Castle, I can honestly say that the service at Windsor when they took the crown off the coffin and placed it on the alter and the lone Piper walked away was one of the most moving things I,v ever witnessed

All countries have a dark past, unless you only read about the British Empire of course then you wouldn’t have a clue.

This so-called 'Queen' leaves behind a legacy of denial of treacherous plunder from nations, killing of innocent, unarmed civilians through inhuman laws and staying defiant on the crimes against humanity that her Empire perpetrated. She had 70 years to openly repent for their actions, but never once did I hear I'm sorry, or please forgive us, not once. She also had all the time in the world to return some or all of the stolen stones and artifacts from Africa and Indian subcontinent but never did. The torture, and Mutilation of people in the colonies can never be forgotten, or forgiven.She must be remembered in the light of her greedy, selfish actions and not some romanticized, redundant title. May those who perished because of her family's greed find peace. May humanity be spared from such characters in future.

The ‘round thing’ Connor is the orb. By the end of all the ceremonies I think a lot of people were full of admiration for the pall bearers. The coffin is made of English oak and is lead lined and is said to weigh over 250kg or 550lbs and the pall bearers had to carry it on several different occasions during the day’s events.
The "orb" is the globe, under which all is ruled by "god", whom in turn gave power to said monarch.
It's the same in Norway, our fantastic King rules with power from "god".
It's a little silly since we all know there is no "god", but whatever floats their boat.

At her Coordination 70+ years ago she was Anointed Supreme Govenor of The Church of England and took an oath to serve her people as she believed God chose her to serve. She certainly lived by her convictions, even when sorley tested in the past couple of years, our Queen led by love, understanding, compassion, acceptance and forgiveness, all things she believed God expects of us all. When on person can be so loved by so many, she definitely got something right bless her.

I'm not a patriotic brit...( such mixed heritage) but this gave me legit chills....we will never see a monarch like her again, she served her country through the war, through the minefields of countries wanting to be republics....even when her family caused her tears, she put that smile on and did her duty.....I could go on, we will never see her like again, but God bless and rest nana.....and to the absolute pathetic trolls, have an opinion when you haven't spent your life asking for the State to support you

I read that the lead lined coffin is anywhere between 500-700lbs which is staggering. They did us proud. A very sad day but our police and armed forces were remarkable.

Rest assured that no one on this planet does ceremony like we Brits, but with a history as rich as ours, we’ve had much practice, celebrating tragedy and triumph equally. God Save The King. 🇬🇧
The main procession happened after the service at Westminster Abbey and was on a much grander scale, with the Canadian Mounties leading the way!
Those 3 horses the Mounties rode where the last ones gifted by the Canadian people to Her Magesty our Queen.

I was lucky enough to be on the mall near Buckingham Palace today, very emotional and spectacular, we are the best in the world at paegentry and ceremony it was done to perfection down to the last detail .

I get ready to man up, but I end up a blubbering idiot as soon as the drums roll and I hear the skirl of the pipes I'm in tears. Gets me every time, I'm so proud of our Queen and our Countries Heritage.

Respect to the close family especially the King who has not had a moment to grieve for the loss of his mother and had to go on official duties all over the place from basically the moment of her death . It`s only now they and him can have time to finally grieve at their personal loss.
The gun carriage was pulled by 142 sailors, men and women. The large procession at the end had Mounties and service people from Canada, as well as miltary folks from New Zealand and Australia.
In fact all 14 nations which had the Queen as head of State sent a detachment so more than Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
I thought it was an excellent part of the march out with Her Majesty.

It was naval ratings, so young enlisted naval recruits.
What got me was seeing the coffin stripped of the orb, scepter and crown to disappear into the burial chamber in the floor for yet another "service". You realize this was an event of the century and it happens with seamless precision, from the announcement to the crowning of the new king. To see little George in the limo with his parents, the new Prince of Wales (next in line) William and Kate, knowing that when his grandfather passes away his father will be king and he will be the new Prince of Wales. He probably gets it but doesn't understand the changes in his life that will happen.
Everyone from the services did her Majesty proud . This is the early procession to Westminster Abbey . It's been an emotional day for the whole Country and our thoughts are with the King and family . The most emotional part may have been later at Windsor where the Crown , orb and scepter , the symbols of Office were removed from the coffin and placed on the altar , representing the transfer of power .
That was indeed a spine tingling moment of such significance.The utter silence in the Chapel. I was eight years old at her coronation and watched it on black and white TV. I clearly remember them putting the sceptre in her hand and the crown on her head .All the men in the room stood and saluted ,most veterans of either the first or second world War.
Those guys were magnificent carrying the queen.

If you watch closely, the pall bearers lifted and lowered the lead lined coffin with just their arms which is an amazing feet considering the weight. Hats off to those boys.
The Royal Navy pulled the gun carriage because they are the senior service in Britian. I believe the piper fading off in the distance was the most moving part. PS: God Bless Her Grace, Elizabeth, Queen of Scots.🏴
They are pulling the gun carriage. Because at Queen Victoria funeral a horse became frightened and started to bolt. Louis Battenberg told the navy to take down their arms and pull the carriage instead. It became a tradition. Not because they are the senior service.

The carriage was used during the state funeral of Queen Victoria in 1901.In the days after Victoria's death the carriage was issued to the X Battery of the Royal Horse Artillery (RHA). It was to carry the Queen's coffin from Windsor railway station to Windsor Castle, where it would be interred in the adjacent Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore on 2 February.
According to the Naval Historical Society of Australia there are two accounts of the events that followed. According to a naval observer, Lieutenant Percy Noble, the RHA's horses had not been exercised while awaiting the Royal Train's arrival and were unhappy when the coffin was placed on the carriage. They are said to have reared up and threatened to topple the coffin. Noble stated that Prince Louis of Battenberg asked the Royal Navy party commander, Lieutenant Algernon Boyle, for his sailors to pull the carriage.
The navy kept the gun carriage and refused to give it back to the army. Royal family serve in all three of the services not just the Royal Navy.
This so-called 'Queen' leaves behind a legacy of denial of treacherous plunder from nations, killing of innocent, unarmed civilians through inhuman laws and staying defiant on the crimes against humanity that her Empire perpetrated. There is something timeless with this. When America is 1000 years old, I hope our descendants aren't totally woke. I feel British this month, and teared up when the ceremony took her coffin out of Westminster to Windsor. I have ancestral connections to Windsor myself. Walter FitzOther was the first Baron of Eton and first Constable of Windsor Castle is an ancestor of mine. By Walter's wife, I am descended from the real Princes of Wales.

I've seen the overnight footage in the week leading up to her funeral of the rehearsals...mind-blowing. These men & women were as well prepared as they possibly could have been - yet still when it came down to it I'm sure there were nerves running throughout - they all did their Queen very proud.

A beautiful procession and ceremony, befitting and celebrating the Queens life. All of the soldiers, sailors and naval personnel were utterly magnificent. The horses were truly beautiful, and seeing Emma her fell pony waiting to welcome her home to Windsor for the final time was so special.
The guys that carried the Queen were exceptional. The focus of attention all day yet not one error with the world watching. Good job! 👌👍
The procession from Buckingham Palace to the lying in State at Westminster Hall on Wednesday was also very moving. Especially sad as she left the Palace for the last time.

The pipes have a particular meaning for me, there have been 4 pipers in my family to my knowledge, Scot’s Guards, Royal Scott’s, and Cameronians were the regiments of the family. No country pipes like a Scottish regiment, they have been copied abroad but it is never the same.
The Canadian Scottish Regiments are just as good so says a Scot.

Hey Connor it's Royal Naval Gun Carriage 146 , built By Vickers, son and Maxim in 1896 . The sailors were used to pull it as the horses used to pull Queen Victoria were spooked and nearly tipped her coffin since then it has become tradition for the senior service to pull the Carriage.

The cameras picked up but moved on quickly when one of the waiting forces fainted or was taken ill. I hope he or she is ok.

The whole funeral was 6 hours which included the state funeral at Wesminster Abbey then the lesser funeral at Windsor. The marching of not only British soldiers but from the colonies too. Loved the Canadian Mounties. See the rest if you can especially Windsor. At the end her coffin is lowered mechanically through the floor into the crypt. Couldnt halp but shed tears.

I was watching from the corner of Parliament Sreet and Bridge Street just across the street from Westminster Hall as her coffin came out, not something I will be ever forgetting. Will not be forgetting the pain in my feet and legs from standing around for 15 hours, but that's a different thing entirely. I'm just glad I got to go and give my farewells in person.

I doubt she's sleeping, probably having a great time finally being rid of that hunch and seeing her husband and sister again. The standing for 15hrs was a literal pain, even laughing from sleep deprivation hurt a whole lot. Hope no long term damage was done to any us.
