The pomp, pageantry, tradition and ceremony put on by the Brits is astounding. Never have seen anything like it before and probably will never again. The amount of planning, effort, work, skill, money and man power to present this tribute to Queen Elizabeth with her funeral is absolutely mind boggling. Incredible! As an American I stand in awe and respect.

This was in the pipeline for 20 years maybe longer under the code name London Bridge and has been rehearsed to the enth degree and has evolved over time. The sheer number of agencies involved alone is mind blowing, the sheer number of heads of state in attendance, prime ministers, presidents, leaders from all corners of the globe and can you imagine what it takes to just close a city down anywhere in the world? It’s incredible.
And for those outside of the UK the roots between the Sovereign and the military are very deep, historically so and in the case of HM QUEEN ELIZABETH II, her father was in the military as was she, her husband the late Prince Phillip along with her own children. And, when somebody in the UK joins the military the oath they take is to the Sovereign, not the State. The Sovereign br it King or Queen is Commander In Chief.
Notice of the Queen’s death was given to the new Prime Minister (appointed by HM the Queen just 2 days earlier) by telephone with the message “London Bridge has fallen”.

Then the funeral itself I thought the first service was very formal I was moved at the end. Then travelling from London to Windsor and seeing Emma the Queen's horse at the side of the prosession was when I really started to weep Then seeing the Corgies I was crying openly. I’m a 63 year old man who will openly admit I was in tears, not only the pomp and pageantry but the history, and much of it missed.
For example I was watching the royal channel early before the funeral commenced.
And the cameras were live, showing camera angles prior to the event. One of these angles zoomed in to a most delicately engraved back board on one of the pews. At the end of much sculpture the inlaid words of “God save the King” kind of put me in mind of the tradition of having the winners name on the F.A cup seconds before the winners receive it.
Traditions of this fine old nation run deep.
And even at my ripe age, I never get tired of learning about learning about them.

Dignity & respect. Today there are some leaders that think they are great, some that think that they are powerful, and some that take things by force ... but today they and the rest of the world learned a lesson on what being a leader and what being born into privilege and being referred to as Her Majesty actually means. Apparently, the bearer party were in Iraq just a week ago, and the Navy ratings- those pulling the gun carriage- have only been in the service for a couple of months. That means that they are mostly your age. They all did themselves proud today.
The state funeral was only the first half. The procession in Windsor, and then the committal service in the chapel were less grand, but equally moving. Well worth a watch if you have the time.
The Queen was interred with the Duke of Edinburgh, beside her mother, father and sister, with just her closest friends and family present and away from the cameras just a few hours later.

Not all the Navy ratings are so new - a Navy veteran I work with pointed out some have 4 long service badges making it 12+ years for them

@@tomd2917 However long they have been in, they all did a fantastic job. I saw quite a few tweets by proud relatives, all alluding to their youth (mind you, everyone is young to me), and some could count on their fingers the months since they joined up. I hope the bar they (possibly) hit last night was very well stocked!

VERY MUCH SO. please try to watch the final chapter, it is in St, George's Chaple at Windsor, The King, his sister Princess Anne, his brother's Andrew and Edward then the Queen's two grandsons, William, The Prince of Wales, and Harry, then the Princess Royal's son (Anne), and the cousins and so on are WALKING behind the hearse bearing the Casket -- from West Minister Abbey along the road to Windsor Castle (1000 years old) and up the stairs to St. George's Chapel and the final Public Service. JOEL, did you know there had been a FIRST SERVICE in St Giles, in Edinburgh, Scotland, after the Quenn was Laying In State in Balmoral, in Holyrood House, then Transported to Westminster Hall Parliamentary Buildings in London prior to the march, and Service at West Minister Abbey. (I think it is about 8 hours, but facinating and quite lovely - take kleenex, I cried all over again when I saw the Queen's CORGIES, and Pony waiting for her to arrive.

@@JustMe-ks8qc I actually know how they are picked, when you joined a ship/station/air base as a trainee you are regarded as a 'phase 2' (in training, phase 1 being in HMS Raleigh for basic training) and you are automatically put onto OP Bridges (queen was london bridge) and they remain on it until they pass out of phase 2 training and are no longer regarded as a trainee. The new batch of trainees will fill up the spots left behind automatically, meaning you can never run out of ratings for it if a monarch dies.
The guys with the good conduct chevrone patches denote 4 years each, so the guy with three had 12+ years in, a guy with 2 chevrones is 8+ years - the reason those guys are on it is because they will get pinged as leading hands (supervisors) to represent their ship/station/air base, along with the senior rates and officers. I myself was on OP Bridges as a trainee, but during that 6 month period no-one died, and I was automatically taken off of it.

@@precepts6097 That's fascinating, thank you. Do you rehearse during those 6 months just in case? I'm trying to figure out the logistics of it all in my head, but I can't get past how they would no doubt be based on different ships, likely in different parts of the world. I get that marching is fairly standard, but there was so much more to it than that.

The young service personnel who carried our Queen's coffin were fantastic as was everyone who partook in this magnificent funeral, i'm so proud of them all, the lowering of our Queen in the vault and the lone piper, it got me all emotional. Her funeral was truly amazing and very fitting. God bless you! I couldn't stop crying. I'm so proud to be English. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇲

Proud and sad, Her Majesty the Queen - A life well lived - A story well told. God save the King.

Kings and Queens are supposed have power.
That power was hijacked by the government a long time ago and now Kings and Queens are simply there as an ornament
They have no real authority in this modern world
