    Hector and the Search For Happiness Official Trailer #1 (2014) - Simon Pegg Movie HD
    Hector (Simon Pegg) is a quirky psychiatrist who has become increasingly tired of his humdrum life. As he tells his girlfriend, Clara (Rosamund Pike), he feels like a fraud: he hasn't really tasted life, and yet he's offering advice to patients who are just not getting any happier. So Hector decides to break out of his deluded and routine driven life. Armed with buckets of courage and child-like curiosity, he embarks on a global quest in hopes of uncovering the elusive secret formula for true happiness. And so begins a larger than life adventure with riotously funny results. Based on the world-wide best-selling novel of the same name, Hector and the Search for Happiness is a rich, exhilarating, and hilarious tale from director Peter Chelsom, starring Simon Pegg, Toni Collette, Rosamund Pike, Stellan Skarsgard, Jean Reno and Christopher Plummer.

      It will likely move you even if you haven't experienced those things, it just may not be AS poignant.

I only realized it has so many bad reviews after I read your comment. I think part of the bad reviews are from people who gives 5 stars to "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" or "Into the wild", and probably people who bashes "Man of Steel" because of the traveller man searching for answers in the world type of Clark Kent.

    Simon Pegg is probably my third favorite actor on the planet. Not just because he has a permanently reserved ticket direct to my funny bone, but because of the ease at which he touches my heart in whatever role he plays.
    This movie was utterly fantastic. I took this almost two hour ride with him and will never regret it. It taught me a lot about happiness and the pursuit of it (the journey) for which I've am very grateful. I've only been truly happy as a poor child growing up in Memphis. We had nothing but things were so much more simple then and happiness was literally free.
    I highly recommend this movie and the accompanying popcorn, soda, and someone or something to cuddle up with you when you watch it. This world needs more movies with Simon Pegg in them. Cheers!

      Ronald James, I hear you loud and clear! I was a poor child from Chicago who was happy with hardly anything but basic needs at just not living in fear ever day. I was fortunate to have the love of one parent with a can do attitude. That makes a big difference. Sometimes we forget how happy we were. I see children today that have every waking moment of their lives planned for them, leaving them no time to discover nature by following an ant or going to the library. When you can amuse yourself with things you find, like twigs or buttons, or drawing what's in your mind, that's the beginning of imagination! The thing I don't understand today is the boredom among those who have everything! Here's to simple pleasures, and movies like Simon Pegg's that encourage us. Be well!

    At the end of "it all," happiness is knowing that you've done good (to give more) for either your world, your people, your lover, yourself, or your kids. It's to wholeheartedly believe that you did something that you believe is right. Previous generations never had to think any farther than that to be what is known as "happy."

    Children are happy because they feel free. They are not slaves for 8 hours a day at job they hate to pay for all the stuff they think they have to buy. The key to happiness is to only do what you love even if it means you dont make enough money to buy a huge house and a fancy car. If you like gardening, garden, sell your fruit and vegetables. If you like painting, paint, sell your paintings, do portraits, do a little commercial work. If you like to work on cars, work on your car, fix cars for money. Just a void getting a job at all costs. It sickens the soul.

    • @auberjean6873
      @auberjean6873 Před 4 lety +1

      I haven't seen the movie yet, Fleato, but am glad it gave you a little hope. Remember that feeling of hope for times when you need to be inspired by that the most. Please try to think of ten things you're grateful for, despite your situation, every morning and every night before you go to sleep. I don't know if it's your health, life choices (like being distant from others or not having kids or not saving enough) or a cascade of events that put a cloud over your head, but gratitude really does help.
      Can't think of anything to be grateful for? If anyone's been nice to you today, if you were able to obtain food and water, are reasonably safe and have a warm coat and shoes, if you can still see or have the use of most of your body, those are great places to start. I'm an only child who was able to take care of my parents when they needed me the most, until they passed away. One of them had dementia and was legally blind, could only see shadows. For me, that would be the worst thing, so I am grateful every day to be able to see and enjoy the beauty and promise of a sunrise, for who knows what opportunities the day might bring, and the fading colors of a gorgeous sunset, which remind me not to take anything for granted.
      I've been in a few situations where it was easy to be depressed. Having to be in bed for 8 1/2 months in constant pain with no distractions like tv, books or people to talk with for most of it wasn't easy. We all have choices, even if we choose not to make any of them, which is itself a choice. Money gives you more options and the feeling of safety and comfort, but as we are seeing in 2020, nothing is more reliable than change. If you ever have the chance or the time to read "Man's Search For Meaning" by Victor Frankl, I highly recommend it. Some of the concepts in there kept me going, as they stuck with me ever since reading it in high school. These two quotes will give you an example: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms-to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.” and “Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'.”
      I hope your circumstances changed for the better and you found a way out of homelessness since I'm writing this to you three years later! Thank you for your service to our country. This is one of the biggest problems today, homelessness and hunger in a "land of plenty". This would have befallen my mom had I not been able to help. I have no children and no job, yet, but am thankful for the good in my life and hope that it continues. I wish you well.

    Excellent movie! I watched it over the weekend and was delighted. Simon Pegg is the ideal actor to play those self-actualization movies where he starts out as a boring loser and ends up being adorable. In case you liked the Yes Man you will love that movie.
