What are YOUR reasons for homeschooling your kids?

To be completely honest my number one reason to homeschool is for quality time with my children. I can write a book on the many other reasons why. It hasn't been an easy road I had to learn how to teach and guide my children. But I'd change nothing. You can give your children a wonderful education whether working on a slim budget or no budget. Follow your heart and it will all fall together :) Good luck!

My top reason for homeschooling was because my kids were not doing well in the one-size-fits-all environment of public school. My oldest needed more of a challenge and my youngest needed more individualized support.

I was sickly, covid came, my view of the world changed after the last election. We absolutely love it. Best decision ever. About 4 years in and have no regrets. ❤️

I’m glad that we pulled out our kids from school as they develop at different paces in certain areas but where doing awesome in other areas and now they can go on their own pace and are now loving travel schooling!!! My older daughter was put in a class above her grade level but she was behind in other areas!!! I had to learn that I could teach my kids!!! We love the flexibility of homeschooling!!! We are homeschooling round our work schedules as we travel!!! We love non traditional learning!!!

Yes! You can totally give them a high quality education. I like to say homeschooling is like a private school education for a fraction of the cost lol

My state passed a law requiring all public schools to teach comprehensive and inclusive sex-ed to ALL grades K-12. This was right after all the Covid restrictions. Between the constant opening and closing of the schools, the forced masking, and the sex-ed law, it was very clear that homeschooling was the best option available to us. I could literally do nothing and my kids would still get a better education than the local schools provide. I had always wanted to homeschool; 2020 was the year my husband finally got on board with it.

These reasons are some of my top reasons as well! Covid and then what they started to “learn” in school are reasons why we are not going back either.

I'm 66 years old, and I went to public school back in the mid-1960's. Even back then, just like it is today, a public school education is a one-size-fits-all education. I had emotional problems when I was in public school. I was always crying and carrying on in class, and yelling at the teachers. Back then, there were about 40 kids in a class;, and the Catholic schools had about 50 or even more kids in a class. There was also a very mean and nasty first grade nun in the parish school that I was raised in. And it was this very same nasty nun that sent me to public school instead.
After fourth grade, I was sent to special education schools because the public school felt that I needed a much smaller class, and it was simply for the best. After all, there were no special education classes and programs in the public schools back in the 1960's. But in the long run, I gradually stopped acting up in class and I started showing respect for the teachers.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Right… public school is just not a great place for many kids. My kids had great teachers when they were in public school and I know they did their best, but all in all, their best in a difficult environment is not the best…

Two ND kids-9&6. We utilize public school for IEP services related to social skills only and academically homeschool. My kids attend for art/music/gym/lunch and recess only. 2 hours 3 days a week. Along with speech and OT privately. Allows for growth in all skills but doesn’t overstimulate and burn them out.

Yes! That is perfect! We also go to the public school for speech and OT, as well as an extracurricular here and there. Works for us!

In the beginning it started with kindergartener at the time was being bullied. As the years went on it was Covid, my son safety and didn’t feel comfortable what they were teaching in school, and we can go at my son pace. Now I have a list and I enjoy it and I wouldn’t want to go back to public school.

I am so happy you are here. I hope that I can help you get the confidence you need and the information you need to convince your child’s father. I will say that if you and the child s father are still together, it will be a much easier road to convincing him. If it is a separation or divorce situation the natural animosity makes it much more challenging. If you would like to message me on Facebook or IG or email me, I could help you do more brainstorming about your specific situation. There are also alternative education ideas that could be easier to convince someone else of, depending on the circumstances. Otherwise, I’m here to answer any questions I can. Feel free to ask here or message me.

I plan to homeschool. The kids from church who are homeschooled are so much more pleasant to be around and more intelligent...to me at least. My friends from church, 6 of them homeschool. Their kids are great. Not saying public schooled kids aren't great but they have a lot more cons unfortunately. Plus, I'm in western Washington that is really good at teaching kids to hate America and God.
