I met him in St.Paul Mn during a 10 day silent retreat. He counseled me in dealing with family addiction and depression issues. He was perhaps the gentlest most peace-filled man that I’ve ever had the privilege to meet.

I love Fr. Keating. His contribution to AA is inspiring. I believe our founding fathers would welcome his input .
The big book states, "we realise we know only a little ", a statement of true humility . It goes on to say,"more will be revealed "
Centering prayer has transformed my recovery. I'm eternally grateful to Thomas Keating . He gave me permission to have a mind like washing machine and still be able to meditate.
I came into recovery full of old ideas. One was the belief that meditation was for those who could sit in silence with a quiet mind. I grew up with a FUNDAMENTAL INABILITY TO BE QUIET AT ANY LEVEL. A racing mind.
Today I sit and listen to this with a quiet mind and a huge sense of gratitude.
    Thank you Father Keating R.I.P

Watching Fr. Keating’s face as he listens in the beginning of this video, reveals his total attention. I got more out of that than anything spoken. Thank you!

I discovered Thomas Keating in 2013 in the text Divine Therapy and Addiction. This outstanding book was written with Tom S. My sense is this video is the start of what became this most insighful text on the Steps . AWESOME read!!!! its presented in a dialogue format with Tom asking Keating his understanding of each of the 12 Steps.

An introduction of nearly 7 minutes by Tom S starts to feel like an endless ramble. The world is now so full of messengers, each more zealous and more ardent than the other, that we can barely hear the message any more.

Tends to be a quality in many 12 step people. You can’t compare an intellectual like Thomas Keating to them. Where they’re juxtaposed like this in a dialogue, it stands out.
AA’s need to practise constant reinforcement to stay sober, which is laudable, but there’s not a lot of wriggle room for open profound conversation (including critique) with someone who’s entire repertoire is the AA big book.

This interview really is something, he starts off asking Father Keating questions and before Keating can answer , the interviewer then comes in to answer the questions himself. Not till nearly seven minutes into the interview does Keating get to speak!

Bills marital infidelity and long affair with Ms Wynne is not considered as a contribution to his depressions nor has a medical diagnosis been given. Deciding ALL mental illness is due to a lack of spiritual state experienced by few meditators.

The person asking asking is trying to shape AA in what he would like it to be to fit his personal view. Also he seems not understood the true nature of the A A program
