Thank you so much for this read out loud! 2years no alcohol, 4 months no drugs. Still have a lot of work, I give a moment of silence to all of us suffering.
Oh wow you are very generous thank you so much I see that you have a lot of shared CDs and tapes hard to find anywhere else so thank you thank you thank you and sober servant that's a very insightful name I appreciate your efforts I hope to be there someday again thank you! I appreciate your sharing!
A combination of reading it, then listening to it helped me a lot. I was reading step 2 and lost myself several times. Maybe the fear of looking at myself made my mind wander while my eyes were going through the lines. But then I listened to this recording and the words came in like knives through butter. Thank you for your help. Later tonight I'll go through Step 2 with my sponsor. My questions for him are more concise now. Love you all.
I think that anyone who's addicted should try to find the root of the problem. People that start using are trying to escape. Don't put a Band-Aid on a bullet wound
Some time's quickly and sometimes slowly 🐌. But it works if you work it! I have found that to be true also, it's truly never ever let me down. In fact them 12 steps have changed my life for the better a long time ago, and it just keeps getting better as I go day by day one day at a time. From 1976 to today it still works! If your drinking yourself to death? The 12 steps are within the first 164 pages in the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Thanks again for sharing!
"Father Fred And The Twelve Steps" book shared experience is verbatim ✝️A Jesuit 39 years sober 89 year old Alcoholics Anonymous member who was a spiritual director of ours, and at age 57, 35 years sober, we all stay sober as Father's said, "AA First God Most"
Having a rough morning... With the wrong glasses on this book is depressing...having been betrayed by my wife of 12 years, (she's out with him or a Tinder date now, and ignoring me). The powerlessness is astounding...self pity run riot. I can't even listen to another person talking without my mind straying to the betrayal.
I know this is 4 months later but keep listening to recordings and going to meetings until the positive out weighs everything else. I've had problems with thoughts myself lately. Or take a favorite promise or phrase out of the book and keep repeating it out loud to yourself is something else I have tried.
Try reading and watching videos on the history of AA... Bill Wilson had family and friends who were community bonding making a greater difference. Some are mention in the making of the literature. Please have a sober and clean just for today DAY... IT WORKS ONLY IF YOU READ THE LITERATURE....AND APPLY IT INTO YOUR DAILY LIFE OF BREATHING.. LIVE LAUGH LEARN
Some people are not and that's fine. The 12 n 12 was written as additional insights 14 or so years later. There was a time when the 12 n 12 was so heavily focused on that the Big Book was in the background. I like both in different ways. As long as you are using some AA book with your sponsor and getting the Steps that good.
Bill Wilson wrote the book Alcoholics Anonymous together with Hank Parkhurst whose story was in the first printing of the first edition but relapsed a few years later and never returned. There was also a lot of input from others as well. You can find copies of the original manuscript which show markups on it everywhere. The 12 n 12 was written mostly by Bill Wilson in the early 1950s mainly to get the traditions published but added some additional insight on the Steps as well.
Dude, the 12x12 is about extended application after the original 12 step instructions. It's like 124 pages of solid application and instruction. It can transform your life as much or more than the Big Book
