    Gregor. I pulled this video up in a search. I didn't look at the text or anything, just hit play. I immediately said to myself, that this sounds like Greg Hildon. So, I rolled back up to the top of the screen, and yup. You are such a wonderful, wonderful, soulful player. I have no idea why you aren't famous for your playing in a bigger way, not just amongst those of us who've followed you for a number of years. Geeze....if I had the talent...the hands.

    Love the tone of this one. Been thinking about one of those Gibson 61 reissue SG's. Nice choice of tracks Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. Thanks for challenging me with my own playing, I try to take something new to every practice and gig. Danke

    Thanx bluederek! In fact that's the connection i was told Gibson uses. If you want to completely mix the 2 pickups or using one alone you have to wire the pickups an pots differently.
    I had a LP type guitar but I don't remember how it was.
    Thanx

    Don't let him fool you. It's not the fingers that make the sound .
    It's all in this pair of shoes! :) Just look at the older vids and you will hear the difference!

    Wow, some sexy wrinkles on that cherry!!! My '63 Standard has had to be repainted so many times, but on seeing your beauty, I see that she's still the right shade. And the tone... I think it's mostly just the wood that gives these older SGs those some mean biting mids in their eggnog-smooth voice. Absolutely my favorite sound! You've nailed it with those humbuckers. I keep a pair of Burstbuckers (2 & 3) to get a fair imitation of the T-tops in my '63. Beautiful sounds you're making there!

    This entire video is amazing! Just out of curiosity: What did you replace the stock tuners with?

  • @muaythai4lifelife
    @muaythai4lifelife Před 12 lety

    I mean, if you place the pick up toggle in the middle position and you close at 0 one of the 2 volumes, does the guitar mute?
    Gibson stock wiring is that way. Then if you want to use and mix the 2 pickups you'd have to wire the volumes "independently".

  • @muaythai4lifelife
    @muaythai4lifelife Před 12 lety

    @bluesderek another question, are you sure you can mix the 2 pickups volume on the middle p-up position? I was told it is not possible. If you close one of the 2 volumes, you only lower the volume of them all together. Not only the one you are turning down.
    Thanx

    What are the chords for the backing track?
    I really like the progression.

  • @muaythai4lifelife
    @muaythai4lifelife Před 12 lety

    Hi, great jam! Are you volumes wired to be independent or do they act as a master volume in the middle position of the switch?
    Which Gibson Sg or LP has independent volume wiring if you know it?
    Thanx!

    I have a 65 with the same finish and hardware - almost identical - may I ask why you converted it? Were you not happy with the P90's? How do you feel it has improved it?
    I'm asking because I'm considering doing the same conversion. Hope you are able to respond and thanks for the post.

      For reference: SG shaped Specials have always been SGs. Jrs, Standards and Customs were Les Pauls until late 1963. Not sure why Les’ name was dropped from the Special so much earlier than the others.
