    with overdrive it sounds really magical, especially on Neck pickup - very sweet and vintage sound. regarding Veritone - it hard to say - it adds something and cuts something. I think combination of this vintage Gibson + Okko Overdrive + Amplifier + very nice playing give in summery this feeling of "old true sound", which is so nice

    THAT...is what an ES-355 was originally designed for; a smaller, light weight alternative to the big jazz bodies, while being punchy enough for good blues playing...
    Great guitar, great tones, great playing !!!

    1970's Gibsons are amongst the most distinctive, beautiful, and underrated guitars ever. Walnut stain, nitro finish, fantastic pickups . . . mmmmm!

    Good demo of the varitone. Gibson came up with a good innovation with that.
    For the poster asking qestiion about the stereo designation Going back into the 60s when Gibsom, were making amps,
    they produced a stereo amp. The switchcraft jack has a stereo contact for that, but it is not used in normal mono.

    @clapton101 The backing tracks are collected from the web within the years...
    Sorry I don't know anymore from wich site. When I find a nice Track I'll store it on my computer and don't make a list with an archive wich track came from wich site... Too many tracks too many sites. I can't help with this question! Seach for "backing tracks" or "jam tracks" and you will find a lot

    It seems the Varitone cuts the Bass in a steady fashion .. Does it bypass the tone controls or do they also interact ??

    I've noticed on the trusrod cap it says: "STEREO" and was wondering what it means??

    • @Tonetwisters
      @Tonetwisters Před 7 lety

      The pickups are totally independent of each other; you would send each to a different amp, and if you separated them out by maybe ten feet, you would get a "stereo" effect with the totally different sounds, as in a stereophonic record and playback music system. Gretsch had a stereo system that divided up the strings left and right, which I think is waaay cool!

  • @Tonetwisters
    @Tonetwisters Před 3 lety

    Just wonder why no one -- or almost no one -- ever demos these guitars in stereo ... I've seen one, but the guy was also demoing a Gibson stereo amp.

  • @mikemalone9404
    @mikemalone9404 Před 2 lety

    Was this guitar wired mono? Looks like your only running one amp. I can't figure out how to get mono from mine. It's also stereo.

    Hey what pickups do you think are best for a ES335 I like the way you play and the type of music you play but my ES 335 does not sound as good as the ones you play on these posts I bought it used and it has some crap pickups in it I want to change them but don,t know what to buy?????

    • @Tonetwisters

    when you play live, is it ok to repeat some licks throughout the setlist?

    • @victordewilde8639
      @victordewilde8639 Před 5 lety

      Of Course its how you play rather then what you play. PS Is your enjoying yourself on stage the people will enjoy themselfs n there fore love the group. At any avg show the odds of 1/5% of the people knowing you repeated, that would be rare. Even less rare if they didn't like or say anything. PPS My fav is even if some idiot speak out agains't you while there friends are having a good time. The people more often then not, will just excuse them as Jealous that your on stage and the Idiots is not. Lol
