HMT is known because of their mechanical watches wo bhi agar duniya ke akele showroom me nahi milta to kya hi fayda itni mehnat karke jane ka. Better option hai ki ye showroom band karke logo ka waste hone wala time bachana chahiye inko. For quartz and automatic watches there are much better options available in the market.
HMT has a great opportunity to recapture watch market by pumping in their trademark handwind mechanical watches to the market. I think they should also start selling through popular ecommerce platform like amazon, Flipkart instead of their own crappy website. Unfortunately they are completely reluctant and indifferent. And that allows fake hmt watches are being sold.

Plus they will have to pay licence cost to citizen in case they decide to produce new movements. All these things aren't practical. At least HMT can make use of the brand value they have in Indian market. ST 96 swiss handwind movement is available at about 1k. If they spend another 1k in case and finally sell the finished product at 3.5k, they can make handsome margin. If there is a will, there is a way. Even miyota 8215 automatic movements comes at under 2k for bulk purchase and they are already using 8215 in Stellar range. Whats the big deal in putting the same movement in pilot, janata or Kohinoor case and then sale at around 4.5 k, it would be cheapest automatic watch in India offered by a good brand.

Sorry Sir, I do not remember. But usually inventory is same as online. If the model you are looking for is out of stock online, it would probably the same in store. Only advantage is you get to try the watch in person and you get a HMT paper bag. At times the store personnel will allow strap replacement as well based on your preferences.
The watches you bought are quite ugly to me. HMT has some very beautiful watches other than these. Government can sell some of its stake in HMT to private watch company to revive this iconic brand.
