My wife wanted a Lazy Susan for the downstairs island. She entertains down there often and would like a way for all her friends to be able to easily enjoy the variety of snacks and goodies that she makes available. There's actually very little that makes a Lazy Susan interesting since it's basically just the hardware mounted onto a board. With that in mind, I tried to come up with a way to spice it up a bit and to incorporate some artistic interest into the piece. Well, I think I did it! I used the "weaving" technique that I've explained in a previous video and managed to work in eight different species of wood into the piece. Walnut, Maple, Honey Locust, Purple Heart, Yellow Heart, Ipe, Marblewood, and Mahogany. Check out the video and see just how I ended up making, what I think just might be, the prettiest Lazy Susan ever!
Like the circle-cutting jig? Watch the Ultimate Table Saw Jigs pt.3 video to see how I made it!
I can’t get enough of this weaving technique! The woods you used were so cool looking all together. And I really like those last few stripes of maple you put in there for continuity.
Thanks Bruce. Yeah, I think those last two lines really brought it all together.
@@FishersShop Those last couple of strips ready made it work. I'm keen to give it a try....then turn it on the lathe as a dish.
Same here, addicted to the weave design!
“About donuts, I figured I could fit in another if I tried hard enough”
Had me wheezing. Fantastic video as always ;)
😋
I bought a Lazy Karen. It refuses to spin until it gets to speak to the manager.
Seriously though this is gorgeous, the weave down the side is great and the way that Yellow Heart stands out... just a perfect combination of fluid lines and textures.
Thanks, Alex! :)
Echoing all that was said before - the design, your teaching style, the humor, the professional a/v - bravo!
I'm going to try your method to make some serving trays with curved handles similar to one I found in Wood Magazine but with the handles made from woven wood like yours. Thanks for the lessons and the entertainment!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Simply stupendous. From the cinematography to the sound mixing to the jokes to the way you explain what you're doing, I cannot think of a way to praise this video more highly.
Tip of the cap to you, sir.
Great to hear!
Your description of the making process with puns and jabs on self are so much fun to watch.
The humor is just a cherry on top... Sweet work bro
I just want to pop in and say how much I appreciate your blooper reels. I listen to your videos while I game, and the combination of your voice and gorgeous visuals is really calming. The blooper reels add a level of unpolished humanity that's really comforting, because it knocks on the fourth wall enough to remind me that it's okay to make mistakes and small bloopers, because in the end it's all about the glowing wood finish, not the splinters you encounter on the way.
You did a damn good job brother
Thanks!
You are a good storyteller as well as a creative one. Good sense of humor too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
He is honestly the funniest wood worker on CZcams
This is beyond woodworking, this is art!
Would've been nice to see your wife's reaction to it!
There is only a couple honey locust trees on my place but a neighbor has quite of few. I was not planning to save the wood because of the three inch thorns but seeing how pretty it is, it will be harvested.
Start with the neighbor's trees. :)
One simple word for this work is "BEAUTIFUL"
Thank you! Cheers!
Anyone else have no clue what he was making for about 3/4s of this video but u love him so much you stayed and watched till the end . No just me. Ok
You should make something in a weave for your kind neighbor. After all, he does donate so much material for your projects. Great job. I could watch you using this technique for hours. Btw, your humor is awesome.
:) Thanks for watching
Beautiful piece!!
Thanks
That's amazing! Pure geometry and beauty.
I’m loving it.
As always, great technique, beautiful work and lots of fun too. 👏👏👏👏

So cool!
Looks amazing beautiful work
Thank you so much 😀
Too beautiful for only a table.
Wow! Absolutely amazing work, as always
Awesome !
Another great project, Drew. Thanks!
I love the woven look, and a lazy susan is a great alternative to endless takes on cutting boards. 😊
A few years ago I made a maple tool handle for a bowl gouge on my lathe, and I did a wavy cut in the maple blank and glued in a piece of green-dyed maple veneer. After drying, I then turned the blank 90° and did another wavy cut, and inserted another piece of veneer into the blank. Looked really nice after turning. I will have to try your technique to bring in other wood species, maybe on a cutting board, or perhaps on a lazy susan.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Great video Friend! Thanks for always sharing them with us!💖👍👌😎JP
Thanks for watching
Your very welcome Friend! Have a great week!😎
Stunning
Just wow!
"Oh crap!". Love the outtakes. Lol!

Wow. I love it. It’s beautiful not to mention functional.
This woven pattern you do is gorgeous! Keep up the great work, it's always fun when a new Fisher's Shop video shows up.
Thank you so much!
I really love that woven technique. That's just beautiful.
Really like this Lazy Susan and it's given me food for thought, so thanks very much. Cheers
Very cool!
Interesting techniques. Just beautiful.
Great stuff. Outtakes @ the end are a bonus
This is officially my new favorite channel!
Very nice Mr. Fisher. You are a true artist.
Thank you kindly
I love you voiceover so humorous!
That is beautiful.
Drew you are about to hit 250k subscribers. To celebrate you should get a Festool sander and vacuum and you wont have to deal with a mask while sanding ever again. I found a set used I got hooked on Festool. I put a glass of water next to me when sanding several cutting boards and couldn't find a single spec of dust in it when I finished. Check craigslist and facebook marketplace for used festool and it no different than keeping money in a savings account. It wont depreciate any further. It's how I sell it to my wife at least. Keep up the great videos.
Yeah, I've been eyeballing the Festool and the Mirka
Very nice job. I like the bloopers nice touch 👌.
Brilliant!
Wow!! Love this! You’ve moved from builder, to Maker!!
I love all of your videos!

the purple heart is eye catching. please build an entire something out of it
Wow! That’s beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful piece! I love your deadpan sense of humor. 🍩🍩🍩 This video especially made me laugh to tears.🤣🤣🤣 Maybe I'm easily amused, but I'm fine with it. Outtakes are a great idea!
Glad you enjoyed it!
There’s a genius level woodworker beyond this bloke’s self effacing humour. Outstanding.
That is a very cool project!
Magnifique!
Thank you for the video! I got a bandsaw right after seeing you first weave video! Amazing work, making this idea now but, not on a lazy susan. Thanks for ALL the great videos!
Truely beautiful
Thanks
Lovely does not begin to describe this project.
Amazing work wood !!!!!!!😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

Thank you!
Beautiful result! And your neighbor didn't lose anything! Thanks!
I am a new fan and find you fantastic. Love the lazy Susan
I used this technique to create cabinet panels in my van renovation build. The panels turned out simply amazing! I take the credit when I receive compliments on my wood working but when I'm asked how I learned to do it, I say youtube baby, youtube. Thanks for this excellent how to video... really. You make me look like I know what I am doing. Thank you.... no really... Thank you!
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it
Once again I love your projects
Thanks, Robert

Thank you!
Beautiful, very well done!
Thank you very much!
That technique and those woods would make an incredible solid body guitar - it would be gorgeous!!
Great video and amazing end result!
I just cannot believe that we have just about identical workshops! With the exception of the great space and the tidyness of course 🥴, all the nice tools, the timber and the great things you make... Yup, identical.
I love your channel! What a great result on an amazing idea. Cheers!
Thank you so much 😀
That cove bit was well worth doing, I think that added a extra dimension to it. I think we're all thankful that walnut was in short supply for you during lockdown 🤣👍
