  • FROM: Porlock Weir to Lynmouth
The one with the 10 million river crossings, a damaged ankle and some tree hugging!
DISTANCE:- 13.5 miles, although Devon miles are very different to Northants Miles!!
HEALTH:- woke up with sore quads, aching calve muscles and dodgy ankle but a couple of pain killers and I was starting to feel better.
WEATHER:- we’ve been so lucky with the weather! A few drizzles but mainly dry and warm.
CAMP SITE: staying at Sunny Lyn Holiday Park and we are the only tents here! Pitched right next to the river. And a lovely lady in a nearby caravan made us all hot chocolate while we pitched our tent!
    SUMMARY:
After a full English breakfast in our hotel, we set off to Porlock Weir to begin today’s hike. We left our tents and camping stuff in the car so our packs were more manageable today. The trail was mainly forest walking and lots of river crossings (we all had a slip in a river /waterfall at some point today! I also fell over on a gravel track which made my right ankle a bit sore. The steepness and drops were a little too steep and we gingerly passed landslides. It was a tad scary to say the least and I’m not afraid of heights! 13.5 miles later we were in Lynmouth eating hot scone with cream and jam. Life is good!

Definitely Chestnuts and not Giant Rhubarb but a plant called Gunnera. Im hoping to walk this route on Monday, fingers crossed for either Minehead to County Gate or Porlock Weir for day one and onto Lynmouth for day two. Thanks for the videos, looks like a lot of climbing,

Chris, it's a beautiful area and you will have a great time. We are continuing our trail this November for the next section (Wollacombe to Bude), so it will be chilly and challenging but good fun. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

How did you try to dry your boots?

i'm not sure why i've only just had the notification for this. Taking the insoles out helps with out with drying the boots and I hang them up inside my tent. Apart from that i'm open to other peoples tips. x

Try scrunching newspaper up and packing into the boot. Old army trick and works a treat 👌
