Extremely well done and remarkably perspicacious. I knew which one was for me, an INFP, before the letters popped up on the screen. Perhaps even more interesting, I was able to tell, pretty much unerringly, which ones out of the rest were "almost" me, or much like me if not quite pointedly, and whaddya know, in each case when the letters popped up on the screen they contained two to three of "my" letters as well. And the ones that I couldn't relate to at all were, sure enough, utterly different from my set of letters. Fascinating.

Then like 2 seconds later I realized that's probably a good opening to use the "best, worst, most likely" strategy. It's mainly used to stop freaking out about future outcomes, but it could also be useful for reaching a state of calm uncertainty about the contents of people's brains.
What's the best case? They're thinking about how amazing I am.

ENFP was perfect and exactly what I’ve come to terms with this year (or I guess last year, happy 2023!) Cant sit around waiting for the perfect pathway to pop into my head. Turns in the road will come and you’ll have to make decisions to go different directions along the way that will eventually bring you to where you need to be but you have to be on a road for that to happen. Avoiding your potential because there’s too many possibilities is a great way to be depressed forever and deeply disappointed in yourself, basically decomposing in stagnancy.

I honestly feel like all of these points (or I guess counter points for the bad advice?) is good advice for almost everyone. Not just the personality type it corresponds to.
As an INFJ, not making decisions based on how I think other people will react is something I definitely need to work on. There have definitely been situations where I decide to do or not do something because I fear that I will make someone angry or they will find me rude for doing what I actually want to do. Or sometimes it is because I feel peer pressured to do something or fearing that I will miss out if I don't do that thing.
A good example I can think of at the top of my head, back at my now ex ballet studio, it was a very big thing for the students in the top four levels (levels 5-8) to participate in this international dance competition. A lot of people at my studio participated in this competition either as a soloist, in an ensemble, or both. And to be honest, I've never really liked the idea of a dance competition. Because to me the reason why dance stands out as an athletic activity that isn't a sport is because you can't measure a dancer by how many turns they can do, or how high they can jump, or how flexible they are. To me, dance has always been about performing. About playing a character. About artistry. And dance competitions kind of undermine that. But I still did it anyways. Because all of my friends were doing it. Because *most* people my age there did it. Even during the year covid was still a big issue! Because I wanted to feel like I belonged there. And admittedly, it wasn't a bad experience per-say. But the stress and anxiety our teachers put on us to win didn't really feel worth it once we got to the end of it. At least it didn't to me. I don't even think I realized that was why I wanted to do the competition so badly back then. It took me leaving the studio entirely and a month of introspection to realize that I didn't really do it because I wanted to compete. I did it because I was afraid of what my teachers and classmates would think if I didn't.

    • @juxtapositionyounme
      @juxtapositionyounme Před 8 měsíci

INFJ here as well. You and me my friend. I especially appreciate as well the part where you mention not even really realising the reason for why you entered the competition. I believe my general experience is also pretty similar. I know I can't speak for all INFJs, but I do feel some of us (esp those with the "stronger Fe"?) do just automatically and instinctually behave in a way that we know to be "socially acceptable" without even giving much thought to it. It's almost like breathing air sometimes, hard to even notice. The only time you eventually notice is after a string of untruthful life decisions, where you find yourself miserable by the end. I feel like it's even harder with family and loved ones. Theirs tends to be the opinion that matters most, the approval you most yearn for. I used to be a most agreeable child, for what 18 years of my life. Learning to openly disagree with people has been a gruelling process for me and is honestly still a work in progress, 8 years into the effort as I am now. But it's definitely something important for young INFJs to realise, lest they lose as much of themselves as I did. You find that you can't even really make decisions as yourself anymore, swayed by the hive mind as you are. Or, you can, but you find it hard to put those decisions out there into the world, because you learn that every unpopular decision has "consequences". I can only presume ESFJs and ENFJs have it even worse, since Fe is their dom function and I would think have higher sway. Anddd.. I'm not sure why I even wrote this but as I'm training myself not to silence my voice and delete comments after drafting them, here goes! 😂 Wishing everyone leaps of improvement in their personal growth! I think that’s definitely true when you’re an adult, but of course not so much when you were a child. @allieoneal2033 Před rokem +1

One thing that is helping with goal setting is realizing that there isn't one best way to set goals. Lots of people will claim that they know the BEST way of setting goals, but it takes a special system to work for an INFP, and not even that system will work for different kids of goals all the time.

    • @whitebirchtarot
      @whitebirchtarot Před rokem +1

@@allieoneal2033 That’s a very wise statement. I think we INFPs operate by a different set of rules. I know everyone is different in their own way, but you’re onto something. The typical goalsetting behaviors probably don’t work for us because we’re inherently geared toward interpreting others’ feelings and incorporating them into our actions rather than simply thinking of ourselves and what we want. I also think that our rich, interior lives sometimes get in the way of our outer manifestations. That’s not an excuse, but it is a reason. I have so many dreams and my imagination is so vivid that it’s difficult for me to choose one particular path because I feel I’m excluding so many things. I don’t think anyone can really understand what that feels like unless they stand in our shoes. I’m in a metaphysical discussion group and we met this afternoon and I made a comment and I felt like no one understood what I meant. So often the way I feel is invalidated by others and I realize that they can’t possibly know how I feel, and yet they act as if the way they think and feel applies to everyone. Your comment really fits in with how I was thinking and feeling after yet again having my experience misunderstood by others. I appreciate your comment. It’s nice to know that there’s someone out there who is open to different ways of doing things and who doesn’t expect us all to be exactly the same. 😊

The big things I want to do are publish my fantasy novel series I'm working on, become a social worker, and also travel. There are several other things I want to do too, but those are the main 3 things. Write, help people, and see the world. If I start working on a time frame and schedule of how to accomplish each of those things, it would really help me out. Great video Frank!

Hiding in the bathroom or trying to escape is futile, the bullies will merely see you as weak and target you more. You need to make them think you are boring or not to be messed around with. One way is to talk all philosophical or just straight up attack them if they try to hit you, if they verbally bully you swear at them. I know this may be hard I had to switch countries to toughen up. If they talk to you(anyone) tell them about your thoughts they’ll eventually get bored(experience Btw if this has worse effects I am not to blame, you listened to an idiot’s advice.

I have extended this to how I treat all media where I take more responsibility to how much something just might not connect with me, but it's not bad. @beanie_bae Před rokem +1

    I do #2, #6, #12, #13, and #14 (ish)
So what I get out of this is:
    - There is never a 'perfect' time for anything, so eventually you must just start
    - We percieve whether life is fair or unfair, but really it just 'is'
    - You decide what you get from events that happened in your life
    - Learn from people who have what you want
    - It's probably you that's the problem, not them (tbh though, this doesn't fully apply to me, but everyone has room for improvement. I only have a few people in my life with toxic behavior.)
I agree with these statements, but some more than others. For problem #12, you have reasons to be upset or frustrated, but also reasons to be happy to be alive. Considering both rather than negative card-stacking is more helpful. Those are my thoughts, but thanks for the unsolicited advice!
    - I took the test and am ESTJ, but fit with other types as well so yeah

Oh, INFJ, thou art a rare and gentle soul
With a heart that doth reach out to all
But alas, thou art never left alone
By those who are needy, and do thee enthral
For they doth seek thy understanding
    And thy compassionate ear
They doth drain thy energy, most demanding
Leaving thou feeling drained, and with much fear
And though thou doth try to set thy boundaries
They doth ignore them, most unkind
Leaving thou to feel overwhelmed, most contrary
And in need of solitude, of a different kind
But do not despair, dear INFJ
For thou art strong, and thou art true
And thou shalt find a way to be
    Alone, and recharge, and renew
For thou art a gift to the world, most dear
And thou deserveth time to be clear
So let us all respect the INFJ's need
For solitude, and time to recede.

Honestly, I can't find another profession where you can help people more, at school there are people who want to stand out, exploit their talents, but there are also young people who have a lot of problems. I don't know if I was interested in helping students because of some emotional shortcomings I had in my childhood, but I feel like I don't see myself in an office making a company richer, instead of helping young people (mostly because I'm from a poor country)

Too often I felt like I had to internalize the whole conversation and exchange of emotions between me and another person. There was no place for me to be spontaneously myself, because everything had to go along with some sort of abstract plan of the entire interaction. Everything had to go right to avoid any sense of conflict or any remotely negative emotion. Again, thank you Frank James.
