My bunnies have recently broke their bond. It was so disheartening as they have been bonded since I got them. Just now starting the bonding process for the first time. Your videos give me comfort in that bond breaking can be fixed ❤
They're like an old married couple that love each other one minute and then are bashing each other the next. The initial interaction in a smaller space scares me so much, i've let both of my buns out into my pergola area for about 10 minutes. It is such a large area that they mainly explore and never get close to each other.
I don't mean to flex but I bonded my bunnies Honey and Muffin in 2 days 😘 That was a month ago, I'm so glad that I saw this video because I didn't realize they could need to be rebonded in the future. Thank you so much! And your buns are so so cute 💕
I still just adore Jelly trying to scratch her ear and scratching Turbo's instead. How did Turbo choose Jelly? How can you tell if your bunny chooses another even though they still have the regular tiffs pre-bond?
My girl is getting desexed tomorrow, gonna wait 2 -3 months before bonding. I’m so scared about my boy hurting her ! They snap so quick it’s scary. My girl is so gentle and small I’m so scared of the initial body to body interaction. Stresses me out 🤣. Thank you for this video ! I loved how you started in a larger space and allowed them to move more. A lot of bonding groups I’m in are so strict and are against larger spaces. But whatever works works !!!❤
I just adopted my second bunny this morning. She is a little bigger than my other one and she settled in so well that we had them both meet for the first time tonight. There was some mounting, mainly her mounting my boy so we are going to put her in his room seeing as she seems to be the more dominant one and we want to make sure she knows not to overdo it. Thank you so much for this video it has really helped me set everything up and I will be using techniques i have learnt from here for my buns!
I know its an old video but i laught when you said "Turbo busted into the room and saw Jelly" The first encounter with my rabbit was like "WTF im not the only of my kind ? what is this ?"
I just started bonding my bunnies but I'm not sure if can I put two pens next to each other in room which is my first bunny territory? Or the pens should be on neutral ground? Btw your videos are so helpful ❤️
How do you go from the side by side to meeting one another ? Would it be difficult to try alone? I've got a baby mini lop and a Netherlands dwarf he looks exactly like jelly but male! He's fixed and nearly 8mnths old Koko is 13 weeks . New bunny mum so any tips would be great 😊
I had them meet first before living side by side but the rules for their first meeting are always the same which is that it must be a neutral space. You can put them on a table or a playpen in a space they've never been before
I cannot get my rabbits to groom each other. They have been together for a couple of hours everyday for about a week and I cannot get them to bond. Yesterday they got in a fight and I didn’t separate them immediately after so there wasn’t a bad memory. They won’t assert dominance, they won’t groom each other, nothing like that. One of them (pebbles) wants to bond and will flop in the pin with the other (Cadbury) and will try to get her to groom her but she won’t. Am I doing something wrong???
They are both neutered and spayed, I imagine? I wonder though how come the hormones come in the way. I thought this slows down in rabbits that have undergone the procedure. Would appreciate if you could advise. Thank you
When I got two I thought the same, also everyone saying same thing, but now I'm stuck with two rabbits who hate each other. Now for 10 years gone live with two rabbits in separate dividend places. Was so mislead.

@@viktorask I have no practical experience. However, I've learned from research and speaking to bunny people that bunnies to be bonded should ideally be in similar age. I understand bonding can be difficult or easy it really depends. I've also been told including by my Vet and a bunny rescuer that he's used to me now after all these years being the only bunny so he would not necessarily need a bunny friend. Some bunny fans on the internet would disagree with that. There is no one size fits all. If yours is neutered I'd definitely give it a try to find him/her a friend. As a trial adoption under the condition they will bond, if not you can return it. Mine is not and I was thinking hard to get him neutered in order to bond him. However, he's turning 9 years soon and while my Vet says we can do it, another one said he would not put him through the stress at this age. So I don't think I'll take that risk now but I really wanted to get him a friend. And I would try if he was neutered. Some bunnies don't make it to this age it seems so I am really blessed and perhaps my care for him shows also that way. Also finding a bunny lady in his age to adopt may be challenging.
You really shouldn’t be inside the bonding pen with them. You should be close enough by to stop any negative behavior. It just doesn’t give them the opportunity to be themselves . ❤
I’ve a bit more experience of bonding, I’ve kept pairs, trios and a quad. I’d say you interfered too much and stopped a lot of the bonding behaviours which need to happen, too soon, too much change and space all within the first few days, too much, too soon. You rushed the bond which is why it broke, well done for doing it tho, they need the company of their own kind and it is very daunting. Spring fever is a real thing.
I agree. Them being over them constantly and in their space is not something they should be doing. They are not allowing the bond to grow by interfering
I hate when most places say Rabbits are social and advice to get 2 Rabbits. They most vicious ready to kill each other. I inly have twi in separate place as my daughter wanted and everyone say better have two. Now I stuch with two rabbits who ready to eat each other. Never again will have bunnies.
Just like humans not every bunny will get along with another bunny. I will say there is too much pressure and guilt tripping to have 2 or more bunnies. A bunny can be happy without another bunny present, but you will have to be the substitute for it. If their personalities don't match, it might never work out. But it does take a lot of time and patience with many bunnies. Depending on the bunnies, different bonding techniques might work better than others too. I have had one bunny who couldn't match with any other bunny, but it wasn't "evil". But out of the many bunnies I have had, that is rare. When you have a bond with a bunny that is a very strong bond and very much worth it.
@@JN-se4ok Thank you for words. My bunnies still separated, but now have wider between gaps in barrier them, now they sleeping always together. Still not ready for bonding just yet. One bunny is licking forehead, but another refusing to do the same. But seems they got more quiet now and always looking each other comfort. I will try colse to autum to bond them.

Something important to keep in mind when bonding is that you yourself need to make sure you take care of yourself too. If you are relaxed, the bunnies can easier relax. If you're stressed they might pick up on that and also get stressed. So if you need some time and breaks even when you try again in autumn, that's completely OK. It's also good they can still see and somewhat interact with each other even if separated. Good pre bonding method. Also if they don't bond but you do keep both, they still will have each other's company. As for one grooming the other, but not the other way around: The other doesn't have to groom back, as long as they get along and there are no fights it's alright. I've seen bunnies who are bonded but one of the pair never gets groomed 😅 At least it is clear what the hierarchy is of the two.

Hats off to you and your partner, this looked like such hard work, people don't typically have this kind of committment when it comes to their pets.

We tried to bond two bunnies and they almost started world war 3. Male and Female both neurered, but she was so feisty
Same for me. Rabbits nothing like social creatures. I was misguided, I would better get one or none.
