    I feel exactly the same way! Have had mine for 4-5 months. Always debating keeping it and draining more of my money or just selling it away... but alas when I get it out on the road there is no better feeling :)

      what would you say are the main money drainers in a 944? repairs? I'm looking into getting one myself.
      Also I realize im 3 years late to this comment but if you do see this did you enjoy your experience with the car? ever sell it?

    I just bought a t-shirt and sweat, I have my own 84 944, had to rebuild the top end, rewire the radiator, find a rear caliper, all the regular 944 maintenance, and I can't even think of everything else, I still have to fix the rack which is leaking from where the lines from the pump connect to it, but once it gets warmer I'm getting the fucker finished I can't wait to drive it! But anyway I love the 944 shirts and you're vids so keep up the good work I'll be watching 😁

      Thanks for the support! These cars are a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end 😀

    Add an OMP deep dish, alcantara steering wheel or something equivalent. I was actually surprised how much it transformed the car. I am 6’1”, I thought it might be too close but it’s not. Makes the car feel so much newer, gives you much more leverage to steer, especially without PS. It does make it harder to hit turn signal and wiper, good for auto cross, not as good for street driving but you’ll get used to it. I still need to fix ground so horn works but mostly just haven’t gotten to it. Just don’t buy the China knock off...

    Do a MAF conversion and get your power back.
    If you just started tinkering you probably have the fuel metering adjustments from the 70s, different fuel, and deterioration probably screw you over.

    I'm 5"8 and I feel super small in my 944, I thought it would've been perfect for tall people! Weird!

  • @P1983sche

    Door sounds like a tank when you close it. Makes a great sound. Car is not for a tall person. I am about 5’10 and I feel too tall for it. It’s kind of uncomfortable myself. You must be like a Daddy long legs driving that thing! Haha. Keep that car running and driving, they’re going to be the next ones to really take off value wise. The 911, 912, 356 are getting nuts value wise and out of reach for the average person. Your 924, Boxters 928 and 944 are still in reach. For how long? Who knows? The turbo models are popping up pretty crazy...and are getting out of affordable range. I kick myself everyday, I had the opportunity to get a 944 turbo with 75k miles on it for 3k; it was near perfect. The 83’ 944 I just picked up has 100k miles on it, has all the service records and got her for $1500!

    I'm 6'8" and mine has more legroom available than I can use and enough headroom. No real issues getting in and out and no problem steering. Have you got your seat back far enough?

  • @SJsSonsQueef
    @SJsSonsQueef Před 3 lety +1

    I’m 6ft and have no issues getting in or driving. It might feel slow because you’re not revving it out. You need to adjust your hatch pins if it isn’t popping.

    Are you sure your car is a 1984 model? I bought one new in 1984 and it had a different steering wheel than yours. Just wondering.

    • @QuickshiftCars
      @QuickshiftCars  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, it's definitely from 1984. A lot of parts have been switched out over the past few decades though, so a few things may be different. The whole interior was re-upholstered a few years ago.

      I just got a early 85 model and my steering wheel is different too, mines more of a trident with 3 points instead of a rectangle
