I've worn glasses for most of my life and was never told any of this which blows my mind.
Also it needs to be said, it's a pleasure watching someone clearly passionate about his trade explain it!
I'm always amazed at some of what's never passed on to glasses wearers, but especially when dealing with seasoned wearers it's VERY easy to just ASSUME they know these things (deifnitely guilty!!!)

Thank you for sharing. I have learned a new way to clean glasses. As a person who has worn glasses for many years, the oil stains on glasses after sweating are very annoying, even if I am very careful.
This is a great video, I try to always run the glasses under water before spraying them to wash any debris from the lens.

One way to learn is to have a Mom who wore glasses. My Mom was wearing glasses from before she was even married, so when I got my first pair at about age 12, I was getting nagged or yelled at for the next several years if I did something wrong with my glasses. "Don't put them down that way! They'll get scratched!" or "Don't wipe your glasses on your shirt!! You're just smearing the dirt around!" As a kid you would do it anyway, but you'd look first to see if Mom was watching. Dad was lucky. He didn't need glasses, but he was paying for yours so he might yell at you too, but without the expert experience in glasses-wearing that Mom had.

Believe it or not, my go to is diaper cloths 🥂. Finish with a nice plush microfiber and it’s the best of the best. 💥

how would i clean the temple tips of my glasses because mine look like scratch marks or like skin peeling not really sure how to describe it and thanks for these awesome tips
check out my video on polishing. if you don't care as much about the finish being shiny a magic eraser or some 800-1000 grit sandpaper will do the job. This is actually a break down of the material itself :)
I've used diluted dawn for years. It was when I tried that spray on dawn that the coatings got flaky and they were destroyed. I thought it was bbq heat for awhile or maybe that I got bug spray/weed killer on them in the garden, but realized far more likely culprit was that dawn spray for dishes and that i live in an area with hard water and I like run on sentences.
I've gone back to diluted dawn and I make sure it gets completely rinsed off. I apply to my finger tips not the glasses directly.

I wouldn't say it's so much a crap shoot, but I am very much a huge fan of the soap to the fingers first! Helps keep from smearing it all into the frame and sapping out those precious oils too :) I'ld say in the far longer term, the dawn is more of an issue for the frames than the coatings, BUT lenses are more replacable :P
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 yeah my old pair turned white from losing natural oils. Was thinking of polishing them as an experiment, I wonder if mineral oil would help in the long run. Like every 6 months or so rub a little mineral oil on acetate frames and let sit for an hour then wash off. 🤔
For horn you can do the oil baths, acetate it won't help anything unfortunately. Sometimes that whiteness is just surface oxidation in which case a good polish does magic!

I've been looking for a good deal on some vintage Shurons for my Falling Down costume 😆 🤣 but I might just get a new pair and cheap glass so I won't feel bad about cracking one of the lenses.
From you experience with glasses, do you think grease and sweat from your face damage the lenses? I understand that it might corrode the temple or frames on the metal one. But with the lenses , i couldnt find straight answer. I just got a new pair of glasses and found that the most comfortable adjustment is when the top touches my eyebrows a bit, and during hot days sweat and grease from my brows touches the lens slightly and they left oily marks there. It doesnt effect my vision though, but can be seen once i took the glasses off and look through it. Afraid that its gonna damage the coating, i ended up having to clean my glasses very often which is really annoying. Wondering if i should just leave the grease there and only clean it once a day, or constantly clean it 5 times a day which risk giving my glasses more micro-scratches.
You’ll do get more damage cleaning constantly than you will leaving the brow grease on there. But finding another adjustment that feels great and doesn’t touch there would be ideal, though I can definitely understand leaving it where it just flat out feels great!
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 since this is my first pair of aviator style glasses and as all my previous ones are glasses with smaller lens and thick acetate frames, i’ve never experienced such issue before lol .. now i either have to adjust the frame a little higher and let the top portion touches my eyebrows, or let it hang a little lower and the bottom portion will touch my cheek. So i will end up with grease on the lens no matter what. Guess i’ll have to let it be and wash them daily with dish soap instead.

Stolen from my video on raybans. I liked the concept but had to make it mine, so customized the shape quite a bit and refit everything, the lenses are actually a very deep blue cat2 gradient with a transition base, so they make a solid versatile pair of sunglasses and very wearable indoors.

This is actually a rayban I completely customized the eyewire shape and a few other things on to make it my own. It’s still a frame I just never wear because it won’t hold an adjustment. (Just a rayban material quality thing) I believe it was the roadmaster to start with
What I want to know is once you start wearing a new pair of sunglasses how do you clean them so that they are as clean the first time you put them on? I could tie my hands behind my back and somehow I still get fingerprints on the lens. How do I get them as clean as they were when I bought them?
I mean… exactly like this video… ? 🥶. If they’re beyond help from this method (how I clean every pair for customers and they always wonder how we get them so clean 😂) disassembly and an ultra sonic bath + polishing if needed (chassis not lenses). The secret is the extra stage of drying/buffing with a seperate microfiber rag that was not used for the cleaning 🥂. Everyone always thinks I’m crazy for that added step. 😂
what make/model of the glasses you're wearing in the video?
It’s a very heavily modified rayban road spirit. The eyewire was completely reshaped to a more flattering shape for my face and I cut custom lenses to it :/ The eyewire shape is based off of some higher end aviators like the Anna Karin karlsson claw voyage. At the end of the day it’s a subtle difference, but I didn’t want you to buy one expecting it to look exactly like these :)

I saw your post on Instagram so I had to find out what was going on here lol. Who made this style of glasses first? Never seen the RB Road Spirit but I have some RE Concorde Fusion with this style of acetate inlay, hadn't seen it before I saw it on Randolphs.
@SKELLZ_ the acetate inner rims have been around for ages. What is a newer trend we’re seeing is a titanium rim lock wire embedded into acetate frames. You’ll see a bunch of these coming late fall this year 🙈. JMM has a few out already.
Is the diaper liner really safe? I have been told that using Dawn daily is a great way to make sure the lenses are clean. I guess it's a wrong info? Thanks.
Dawn daily is a great way to make sure everything is clean. It's very hard on longevity of the frames and lenses, however.
I've been using those cloths my entire career in the field, and ild say my glasses have far less scratches than average with some pairs being over 10 years old 😎
