I appreciate this song. I am turtle mountain band of chippewa I was taken from my mother as a child and grew up in a white family whom I have not heard from in over 10 years. But I married a man from Mexico so our son is half mexican and half native american. This year has been hard on my teen son especially I think because of his heritage's. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about my people and our ways. I was robbed of my life because of the white man as much as everyone has been, but not knowing my God given right until just 2 years ago hurts. I don't get to be enrolled with my tribe now. For some reason I e only found peace in my people's ways and traditions. I wish one day I can be united with my tribe as I should have been when I was taken away and to learn everything I can. I appreciate this song. I am turtle mountain band of chippewa I was taken from my mother as a child and grew up in a white family whom I have not heard from in over 10 years. But I married a man from Mexico so our son is half mexican and half native american. This year has been hard on my teen son especially I think because of his heritage's. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about my people and our ways. I was robbed of my life because of the white man as much as everyone has been, but not knowing my God given right until just 2 years ago hurts. I don't get to be enrolled with my tribe now. For some reason I e only found peace in my people's ways and traditions. I wish one day I can be united with my tribe as I should have been when I was taken away and to learn everything I can. Thank you for your song.
