      Well, that's the problem with Burmese definition. They consider "natives" for those who came before 19th century, which the officials think they shouldn't apply because large numbers came to Burma during the colonial era and therefore not indigenous in their rule. There was a kingdom but the inhabitants were displaced and no records. Also the fact that they have a bad history with Arakan natives, at least from 1960's. Also military have control over defense and budget didn't help at all. Strangely enough, this does not apply to Chinese or Indian.

Today, Native population at around fifteen million, while European population (in continents of America + Europe) at a staggering ONE BILLION! As a matter of fact, China has made no secret that it would one day help liberate continents of America which it sees as rightfully belonging to Indigenous Native people. English = Anglo

    • @simonenicolosi6975
      @simonenicolosi6975 Před 6 lety +14

      The last two are simple: Franco from the Frankish kingdom around the VII century, or by its latin name: Francia. While Anglo came by the people who settled Britain in the Ancient Era (he talks about it in another video). While for Sino I have no clue. Have a good day!

    • @rodrigopaim82
      @rodrigopaim82 Před 6 lety +4

      Both French and Franco relates to the early Franks, a germanic tribe who settled the region and created the Kingdom of the Franks, what later became Francia (or France in english).
      English comes from England, which is a corruption of "Angle-land", the land of the Angles, another germanic tribe, that with the Saxons migrated to the Isle. The word Anglo relates in this case to the Angles.

      While they might both come from the same etymology, one is Latin ( _Sinae/-rum_ ) via the Greek ( _Σῖναι_ ), while the other entered Europe via the Portuguese ( _China_ ), apparently those prefixes are called a combining form. In Spanish we use the prefix "nipo-" for Japanese related things, clearly from the Japanese for Japan (日本 nippon)

(Can be found at the National Museum in Yangon) "Myanmar Pyi" or roughly translate "Country of Myanmar" to include all other vessel kingdoms such as some parts of Thailand & India. The word Myanmar has been in the kingdom long ago, its not a new word. Rohinygas are not part of Myanmar.. they are Bengali because they look like them, speak their language and totally different culture from Myanmar people. Which look more South East Asian

    Myanmar or Burma; what's in a name, why it's such a big deal!
    Burma/Myanmar would have been much better off without notorious Anglo British Colonialism.
    Moreover, all thy Colonizers did in their Colonies was build infrastructure such as roads and ports so that they could ship abundant natural mineral resources back to Europe to make goods.
    Without these raw materials, what can they do with their industrial revolution?
    That is what Colonialism is all about; 'divide & conquer' 'divide & rule' 'divide & loot'.
    [For instance, it is agreed upon the fact that Africa in general has progressed a lot more in the past 20-30 years than 200 years of Western Colonialism.]
    Anyhow, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Myanmar, and it's long suffering people. Long live, peace and prosperity to people of Myanmar & Indochina!

    The “Our Burma Association” of multi-ethnic lords, led by Thakin Ba Thaung (1902-1980), awakened the nationalism of various ethnic groups across the country. "Myanmar" does not belong to one species. The statement of the Our Burma Association explicitly states that the country should be called "Burma" because it belongs to all ethnic groups and minorities, including "Myanmar". The name of the organization was given as "Do Burma Association" to represent all and not "Do Burma Association". It is also historically and linguistically appropriate for the name of a country inhabited by other ethnic groups, including Burma, to refer to the "Burmese" instead of the original "Burmese" instead of the original Burmese name. Its actual use has been satisfactory to non-Burmese ethnic groups as well. The official name of the Japanese-era country, which used the name "Our Burma Association", was "Burma Kingdom".
