I really enjoyed your video. You very clearly described each technique and your images were beautiful! I wish I enjoyed coloring, but I find it a tedious task, no matter what type of coloring tool I use.
Thank you so much! Coloring is something that has grown on me over time. Especially once I started getting better at it. 🙂
It’s best to use the water brush directly on the bottom of the pencil rather than the tip, then you won’t lose your sharp point… same as with Neo 2 crayons 🤗🤗🤗

Love all the techniques you shared. I agree with you that the fact that they’re Distress colors make them very special and very useful. Another idea-One crafter I saw put the pencil shavings in empty watercolor pans and eventually ended up with a 36 pan Distress watercolor palette.
Thanks! Great idea in the watercolor pans. That makes me want to try mixing the shavings with mica powder in pans for shimmer colors! 🤩

Good thinking! Have you tried it? I would think though that you would need a fixative spray after or mix into the palette a tiny amount of white/pva craft glue. That might/should be enough to fix the mica in so it won’t rub off.😊
I haven’t tried it yet. Still on my mind though! 🙂
I have all 3 sets & haven’t sat down to really create anything as of yet. Cool coloring into a stencil then adding the water & pressing with the embossing folder! I like how every method turned out, very versatile & great options depending on what mood you’re in to create! Nice job, l’ll try everything you demo’d! Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻💖🙏🏻🫶👍🏼

I watched several videos after receiving these pencils as a gift and this video was excellent because there were several techniques no one else showed. well done. I did see a video where someone saved the shavings and used a little water and an empty watercolor pan to make pans for later use, it works amazingly

Loved these ideas and your samples were soooo pretty... a while ago (I cant remember who) I watched a video and they kept the pencil shavings in the TH palette and dropped in some water and they became a water colour block....

I'm a complete newbie, can you tell me do you use special paper for doing this?
Hi Kathryn! 🙂 Yes, I am using watercolor paper. I try to list everything I use in the description box.
Do you fill the 'water brush' with a certain amount of water. I am just starting out and need some direction please.
I just fill up the little tube with water. Once the brush is put back together, I lightly squeeze until some of the water comes out. Then I dab the water brush on a towel and start painting. I would start out by doodling on a piece of watercolor cardstock and practicing with different amount of water, etc. 🙂
I'm in Canada. I saw these in a local arts supply store. They have all three sets. Is there any one set you would recommend?
PS I don't know how much you paid for the sets. Here, I'm looking at over $100Cdn (not including tax) for all the sets.
It sounds like they are about the same price there as they are here. They go for around $25 a set US. I think any of the three sets would be good to start with. Each set has a good variety of colors. 🙂

One of the advantages is some watercolor sets are very expensive, and you end up not wanting to use them in some ways.

How do these differ from the distress crayons? I don’t have either one.

I suppose I can use my crayons watercolor pencils.

Watercolor paper?
Hi, Ruth. I generally use the smooth side of Distress watercolor paper. I just recently purchased some Strathmore hot press watercolor paper. I’m trying to find something smoother than Distress paper. I’ll probably do a video with it in the future. 🙂
