Pacific rim uprising could have been better if they work with the story of the first movie and did something for a backstory between the first movie and 2034 in the story. Something that's explains why obsidian fury shows up, what's happened that made people make they're own jeagers and work on the scrapper story line, it must have been more to it than little helper on the field.

I love the fact the universe went from First contact to MK1 Jaeger within a 18 months...In reality Governments around the world wouldnt have finished defining what to call themselves within 18 months!

That wouldn’t work either because the breach was designed to keep out unauthorized objects to prevent the outsiders from entering the Antiverse, and even if the Jaegers do that, the Precursors would become smarter and the Kaiju would adapt.
The pacific rim universe has soo much potential, but damn did uprising fumbled the bag, thank goodness there's pacific rim the black, there's a chance for this universe to become known again.

Everyone likes to talk about how the Jaeger's don't feel heavy enough in this movie, but I think one of the other main reasons why this movie is horrible is because it's too light hearted. This movie would've been so much better if it went for a darker tone like the first movie. It feels like frigin Power Rangers up in here. We save the day by killing the giant monster, sure we lose a couple things here and there, and then boom... end of story.
Contrary to that, in the first Pacific Rim, everything is at stake. The first intro scene is an epic battle where Gipsy Danger gets beaten up to shreds, showing how vulnerable humanity is. One of the reasons why everyone cared about Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon's deaths in the first movie is because we knew who those jaeger's were. They were iconic Jaegers with multiple kills and each one of them represented each country. But in Pacific Rim, the jaegers are presented as just plain old tools. They have no real background or history to them, and we never learn anything about them. No Jaeger is designated for one country or another, giving no sense of representation. That is the exact reason why no one cared when the Jaegers in Pacific Rim 2 died, but we cared so much when the Jaegers in Pacific Rim 1 died.
I think it would've been better if there were more stakes at risk in Uprising. The movie is called Uprising, isn't it? This is supposed to be the uprising of the Kaiju's. What if, for example, the Kaiju's actually won the whole battle and earth went into an apocalypse? Then, for a third movie, humanity rises up again and kills the Kaiji's again once and for all. Yeah that might've sounded a bit cliche there, but it would make for a really good trilogy if done correctly.
But, beggars can't be choosers... GUILLERMO DEL TORO PLEASE COME BACK!!!! Also if you made it this far into my rant then I salute you!
And thats exactly the reason why I rejected watching the second movie! I totaly like the idea of a son fighting with the legasy of his father and adoptive sister - but the reason why I liked the first movie is, that the jaegers had their own character!
I had to admit that these gigantic machines had live for me!
They represent their country - or at least their pilotes! :)
And from what I have heard is the biggest conection one of the new jaegers in Uprising has that he is named after the last jaeger standing (and sacreficing herself - Sorry, Gipsy is a female jaeger for me) in the first movie - `Gipsy Avenger´ is the only one who has a bond to the old ones we loved and sort of cryed for. They never got any kind of caracter for me.
I just wonder how all of these facts given here fit together - I mean, Chuck himself sayed in the movie, that mutavore is the 10th kill of Stricker Eureka. And other interesting facts like that Herc before drifting with his son piloted Lucky Seven together with his brother.
Or that Onibaba was the last kaju Stacker Pentacost killed together with his driftpartner Tasmin Severin. And Cojote Tango got new pilotes after that because the two of them became sick due to Cojotes Nuklear Reaktor.
I miss the details in this video! (And some jaegers too I think - Echo Saber or Vulcano Spectre for example?)
I had to admit I learned a lot from researce in the internet, only saw the frist movie (My absolute favourite one) and sadly never read a comic - But I still refuse to watch Uprising.

A good excuse to make them clunky again is to say the ones from uprising prioritized speed over defense way too much and that’s why they went down so easily, so the hypothetical new ones would be like striker, fast and agile, but clunky.
Not sure if most people know this, but before the mission in Tokyo against Onibaba the co-pilot of Coyote Tango, Tamsin Sevier went unconscious forcing Stacker Pentecost to pilot the Jaeger solo throughout the rest of the mission.

Nop, this kaju in the middle made himself guitly killing Gipsys right arm - and for that was `force feaded´ with Gipsys Sword - Raiju is the fastest kaju ever seen (At least in the fist movie, dont know about the second one) but he was `only´ a cat 4
Slattern, the kaju on the left is the cat 5 - and was killed by Gipsys core and used as their ticket into the breach
Skunner, cat 4 on the right side was killed in Strickers self detonation - before that he distoyed Gipsys knee - Poor one! Got the smalest part of this battle :)

I've been hoping the Godzilla and Pacific Rim universes would merge. Titans make for a good reason as to why the Precursors failed in the Triassic period and then came back with titans of their own.

@@Megalon6973 not sure what you mean. Merging the Kong and Godzilla universes turned out pretty well. It would also be a good change of pace by allowing our Titans to work together to stop theirs. Maybe theirs wiped all of ours out and what we learned from building MechaGodzilla, we perfected with the Jaegers. It did take the help of Ghidorahs mind to pilot MechaGodzilla until Ghidorah took full control. Just like it takes 2 people to pilot a Jaeger.

I'd be interested in seeing the materials accessed to create this report. According to the narration in the movie, before Gypsy was destroyed the Jaegers were taking down kaiju left and right (remember him saying the pilots became rockstars and showing people laughing and joking on TV with them because they were so dominant?). Also Stryker had many kills as did the Russian team, but there doesn't seem to be enough room left in the timeline to account for that.

This is what was wrong with that movie (well, one of the biggest things). None of this was explained so everyone immediately thought the movie was silly for us deciding to use giant robots. But if the only way we could stop them was a nuke for every kaiju (ruining large areas of the Earth for decades or more), suddenly giant robots that could fight them (and win) seems much more logical....and the movie becomes much better.
I want to have drift technology in real live! I defenitly would try to become a jaeger pilot!
And then there are some people thinking that establishing energy weapons or whatever is more logical 😂
The movie never mentions using nukes as it would be stupid. The Kaiju attack coastal cities……which is where 80% of all humans live. It would be extremely dumb to use nukes there.
I love the Pacific Rim franchise, but the ending of the second movie showcased the best solution that should've been implemented years ago: non-nuclear, orbital strikes (COD fans, you know what I'm talking about)
If there's one thing to take from this, the Gipsy jaegars are absolute units.
