    Great video mate. We've had the same awning on our rig for 2 years now and agree with your review, for the money it's a great option and overall we've been happy with it. Definitely had the same issues with sag as well as the bolts coming loose, that said with 2 years of full time travel and pretty much daily use I'm still impressed based on the price.

    Just found your channel while researching 270 Awnings and was tossing up between OCAM Wingman and the Drifta Stockton and was leaning towards to Drifta but now after seeing this 'real' review I am gonna get meself a 30 second Stormchaser 2.7m as its going on my HIace so weight doesnt bother me when you said its a great awning and I need a good 1 for weekly use. I appreciate you & your integrity, I subbed also. Cheers mate.

      Cheers thanks for tuning in yeah definitely if you’re going to be using it a lot I would go with something a little bit stronger like I said it’s a reasonable awning for the price but there’s a lot better ones out there. I only purchase this basically because I wasn’t going to use it a lot and it was cheap Cheers good luck with your purchase 👍

    I like that rain guard idea. Cost? ... I just checked the Drifta website and if it is the 3m x 3m gazebo rain gutter, the cost currently is $39.

      Jason made me that as a bit of a favour. I’m not sure exactly on the cost that’s why I said go to your local Canvas or upholsterer. I’m sure they could make something up for you and it shouldn’t cost that much. It is a good idea for the back of the awning, or for the side as I have used it cheers thanks for watching I appreciate your support 👍

    I have seen one new and thought it looked pretty good but that looks like it has way too much sag. The dye they use looks like it doesn't like the sun. At the end of the day it is an Alibaba special with a huge mark up on it. Kings have a similar item for a third of the price. That awning is not worth over 1K, especially when it sags like that and the dye goes. No way I could justify spending over $1000 on something like that. Trouble is, the big brand names are just so expensive. Everyone has a budget. Newts has a Stockton brand on his Scrunnel Funnel setup for the shows. Be interesting to see how his looks at the Townsville show next year.

      Yeah, they’re only made cheaply. I wouldn’t buy this awning if I was planning to do any real serious long-term touring, I originally bought this awning because of its weight and basically , just give me a bit of shade around the car. Thankfully, I won’t be purchasing anything else from the producer of this awning ever again. 😉🤣🍻👍

      @@Sawadventures67how about their drawers? They look really well built

      There draws they make at Drifta a awesome my only complaint is weight but most draw systems have the same weight problem so it’s not a huge issue but there draw runners are fantastic 🇦🇺👍

    The sagging in the canvas is poor, the purple colour would bug me too. I had one and sent it back almost immediately, flimsy and poor quality I thought

      Did it not matter how tightly you tied back (opened up) the awning?

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Cheers, yes I have to agree with you on just about everything. It is a very cheap awning right up there with kings and all the other overseas manufactured awnings like I said it’s only there just to use occasionally when I need something just to give me a bit of shade it’s light and does the job if I was travelling full-time, I would definitely go for something with better quality. I would’ve loved to kept the 30 second awning up there. But weight was the issue with that particular awning on my very low GVM FJ 😂🇦🇺👍

      @@Sawadventures67 Thanks for doing an honest review, very refreshing when it comes to Drifta Stockton. I find most people that ‘review’ their gear are supplied it for free so basically they are brand ambassadors and therefore it’s not impartial.

      @@Sawadventures67 what awning are you going to get instead of the drifta? I’m also looking, my favourite is buswakka but they’re 28-30kg! Too much and doesn’t look great either on the FJ (it’s a massive unit)
