Hi Tyler, thanks for the review. I have been interested in one of these rooftop tents, but I can't get to a dealer and see them for myself so watching your reviews and others is a really good way of collecting background information. Cheers Ian.
Thank you so much for this video. I am hoping to get to NSW to get my tent ASAP (Qld store won’t fit them and it is beyond me). Am absolutely thrilled that you can enter via the back of your vehicle - (I’ve only seen them enter the side)- as I want to add one of the Drifta’s shower as I already have an awning on one side and I was trying to work it all out in my mind. Am really happy after seeing this - thank you so much
its good to have Honest feed back on tried and tested equipment. Well Done Mate keep up the good work !!
Great work TT, as usual up front & honest, my fam is loving your straight shooting viewpoint & interesting content. ✌💪
Love your honesty Tyler. Good job, love yr bloopers.
Love the outtakes at the end of all your videos too. Great work as usual mate.
Thanks mate!
Before the sponsorship police get carried away with their accusations please read the following:
I do work with Drifta and was given the rooftop tent for free but I was not specifically asked or paid to make this video, I did it for two reasons:
1) Content for my channel.
2) I get a shit load of questions about this rooftop tent every week so I now have a video that will hopefully answer everyone questions.
Everything I say in this video is 100% my honest opinion and feedback on the RTT after using it for roughly 12 months. It is also my personal experience/opinion which will vary a little person to person on any product.
Thank you!
To late already made my comment before I read this. Haha
There is hundreds of products out there and it’s very daunting. Knowing you have used a product and it works well for you means we can have more confidence in buying that product.
Keep the product videos coming.
@@fourbyforester yes I know.. I am not against Tyler showing us products. I am for it.. suggest he does more..
Ahhh the old sponsorship police….. my favorite
@@OverlandTravellers you need Coles to sponsor your Canned spuds.
Did you pay full price for the tent ?
Good review bud. I've been curious about these units. Drifta quality is usually pretty good. All in all, seems it's main advantage is weight and size. I still prefer a clam shell style unit though for several reasons. Mainly because they are quicker to set up and you can keep all bedding inside. I have mine on a trailer so weight or size is not an issue for me but something like this is definitely much better for a car. Cheers.
Good honest review, I also love the out-takes 😁
For sure the out-takes are always great!
Thanks for the info on the tent..hurry up and give me the next episode of the Cape!!! 😁
Great channel mate👍 keep up the awesome content & the bloopers at the end of each episode are hilarious 😆
Cheers mate!
Good honest review good job! Love how it’s so thin and light.
Classic the outtakes at the end are gold we know exactly what you are going through! 😂😂
Cheers guys!
Great honest review thanks mate 😁👍🍻
Great review, very comprehensive.
Good honest review mate. Cheers Steve
I love your out takes LOL! Gold!!!
Hey bro! Something to help with the condensation under the mattress: place carpet tiles on the wood. There are self-adhesive carpet squares that you can get to stick down. I have done it and it helps loads with ventilating under the mattress.
Okay thanks mate!
Mate, seriously Tyler, your bloopers just on their own are pure gold! But yeah, great content big fella!
Thanks mate!
@@TylerThompson90 keep em coming big fella!
Mate, good review and I even let the ads run through, just to help you out a little bit.
Been waiting for this one Tylzz. Lots to think about before I spend my tax return on an RTT.
Loved this video
Cheers for you opinion bro, I sleep with my dog, no way am I lifting a 40kg boy up there. Love Luke's products and this one is another rippa!
Always love the out takes 😀
thank you!
Great video and roof top tent mate 👍🍻
A great video Tyler.
I live in Cairns, & I bought the same tent from Drifta in January this yr.
I bought it mainly for the tropics, & it works perfect up here 👍
Awesome mate!
Hi both, about heat and RTTs, other reviews for other RTTs comment on how hot they get in the sun. Do u find that to be the case?
@@surfinwaves4769
I honestly have found that all RTT are hot as it’s all a compromise.
There is no insulation in the material as it’s very thin.
I use a Ryobi portable fan in mine to help move the air around as I live in Cairns, & the tropics will kill you.
I looked at Drifta, & Motop as they were the lowest 2 on the market at 160mm in height.
For me it was getting in the garage at home, & I have under cover parking at work.
I honestly do love the Drifta, & the accessories that Drifta sell are what made me choose them.
@@stephenrogers9664 thanks Stephen, I appreciate your detailed reply.
A good Aussie RTT as it's hot everywhere in this country. Just have a good sleeping bag for winter.
I think I might have to buy one now
Good honest review there mate
cheers mate!
Keepin it real as always mate! Great job!👌 Girlfriend in the singular doesn't have an "S" on the end 🤣😂😜 loved that slip mate 👍 been eyeing these tents off since they were announced. Ticks so many boxes. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the extending side . . . And the cash to buy . . . One day 😜
Haha thanks mate!
Hi Tyler, ...PERFECT!!!...thanks for the review...Beautiful...LIKE!...
Fitted wool underlay. Cool in summer, warm in winter
Good review mate, Wish I had of saved for a better one like this.. and don't worry we know what "WIv Wever" means haha... thanks again
Would be great to also hear Demmie's (sorry if I failed with the spelling) view of your setup. Love the videos, keep up the good work.
I'd be keen on that too.
Yes please.
Bahah bloopers was worth the whole watch. So food
Good work mate, keep it up.
How stoked are you to be sponsored by Drifta? Nice
Thanks for a good video mate
It’s definitely sleek on top, I’ve been looking at the New Alloy Kings Roof tents simply because they are the cheapest on the market, I’ve had a good look over them and they seem fine except for the weight,
Keep up the good work big fella, the little lady gets a thumbs up for enthusiasm, 👍🏻👍🏻 you go girl..
Would love one of them cracking bit of kit 👍 🏴
Good stuff Tyler 👍✌
Best out takes ever love it🤣👍
Great video and looks like a good tent. Two questions, can you enter it from the side of the vehicle using the ladder, and if you rolled over in your sleep and into the side mesh, is it likely to hold or send you to destination f$&ked as Ozzie Man would put it ?
the outtakes are so good lol 🤣
Thanks for great review Tyler been looking for an honest long term review. Just one quick question, do you leave the tent on the car or do you take it on and off when not using it, and if so, how hard is it e.g. can it be done with two people. Cheers
I leave it on all the time mate but can take it off with two people in under 10 mins
Great write up mate
Good video mate
great review and i really don't care if you got it for free. If Drifta have the confidence to give a content creature something to test and review with no obligation's or hidden agendas, it shows they have a great product. Talking about a product is not advertising a product, there is a difference !
Thanks mate!
How do you stop water collecting in the bathtub base? I'm close to buying this but living in the U.K. we get heavy rain. How does it stop it from collecting in the base?
How comfortable is it for 2 people on the 130mm tent?
HELLO!! great review! question... can you keep bedding inside? Thanks!
Thanks! Not the pillows but can keep a sheet and blanket
I always thought the hard lid was part of the wall, well I learn’t something today. 👍🏼ps location, is that near a pumping station?
Yep that's the spot
Up here in Canada there's a company called Wild Land Canada that sells what looks identical to this and is called the Desert Cruiser. Is this the same?
have you ever rolled onto the edge and whats happened? i roll around alot in my sleep and im a deep sleeper i feel like id fkn roll off that thing hahah i am fairly light to around 65kgs tho , what do you think would happen? cheers
nice work mate
Thank you! Cheers!
Good review mate, thanks for sharing. Question though, how warm does it get inside in the full sun? I'm guessing the polyester material would be pretty warm as opposed to a canvas. I'm in the Kimberley WA and do a lot of camping in the top end. Considering this tent but I think canvas would better suit my needs? Happy to hear your thoughts. Cheers, Benny
Cheers mate! My opinion is this tent is better suited to warm conditions then cold, seems to keep pretty cool and can open it right up for lots of air flow. We did 3 weeks in Cape York and was perfect
@@TylerThompson90 sounds good mate. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks very much
have you roll over into the net side? that seems dangerous...
13:25 body heat… will have to use that one next time lol…
Lov my RTT
No idea how the two of you fit in that tight space dude... Awesome review though
How strong/rigid are the gas struts?
Your review looks very honest mate! I can not justify $3000 for this tent... Its not even australian made... (china)
australian made one''s are $7000
Hey Tyler, have you got a video comparing this with the bush cruiser at all? 🤔
Or have thoughts on one vs the other
I haven't mate but will look at doing one soon
@@TylerThompson90 has this been done? If so, link please?
The only question I have is for un-even ground. Do you carry anything to level things up?
Na just use rocks
Good one mate
Thanks 👍
The little flies are called midgies buddy 🤣
Aka Sand Flies
Aka, the worst thing on the planet
The tent inner measurement is 120cm? 0r140cm?
Great video mate just one question do you feel it’s worth the retail price would you have bought one regardless of any sponsorship which I have no problem with anyway cheers.
Yeah it is if you want a RTT I reckon, won't get much cheaper for a hard shell one
Awesome thanks mate
What’s your overall height?
Great honest apioion.... Ohhh. Sand flies.... Buggers they are.... 😂
Does the ladder store inside the tent?
I keep it inside the canopy
sponsorship police, lol. yep they do lose control of themselves. thats a nice topper Tyler. i love my james baroud grand raid.
Dam I want this but I still love my swag
Have you ever fallen down from the roof rack trying to do no1 in the middle of the night ?
Nope hasn't happened thankfully haha
Mad socks bruva!!
thanks to the girlfriend!
nice soaks
Australian made??? Or Chinese???
What stops the person rolling out the side 🤣
Fantastic review mate.looks like a good product But definitely not worth $3000 plus dollars and it’s not Australian made.
Playa playa
That ausie word for blanket "doona" is weird af :D Thanks for the review :)
Haha yeah, doona is Aussie for quilt. It's a brand whos name just stuck.
@@ryantilley-general.shenanigans oh, thanks for explanation :) That makes sense :) The same way we have "lux" vor vaccuum cleaner (electroLUX)
@@PachezZ In some countries it's "Hoover" e.g. I just need to hoover the floors .
Dont worry tyler, I pretty much stopped watching 4wd 247 because it's so commercialised and dictated by there agreements. You are a long way off that, your oppinion is worth listening too.
It's cringe worthy ey "grab me a iron jack out of the my cool man " instead of chuck us a beer Graham
cheers mate!
12:59 oops.....
Can you walk up and down the ladder in bare feet?
Yeah I always do
You did not get it for free. You got it in exchange for a video/s
It’s taken you time to make the video, edit it and upload it. That’s not free.
Workers don’t get money for free from their boss. The work for it just like you have.
Keep it up.
Hope you can get to the Simpson desert next. Or somewhere out back.
appreciate it mate!
No tents are "good" in the snow. No insulation = fucking cold.
GIRLFRIENDS, Bwaaahaaahaaa.
It’s honestly hard to believe any person could crack the shits over sponsorship content. How else are you going to get the information and look into a product while it’s being used?
I mean at that rate any form of advertising or product review would be offensive. That’s just ridiculous.
Did you just say your girlfriend isn't as hot as you? 😆
Very overpriced for a rooftop tent made in China and it’s quite disappointing knowing that drift say there products are Aussie made quality stuff
$2.5 - $3K for a roof top tent in a hard capsule that doesn't include bedding.......... I think not! Australian manufacturers, wake up to yourself!
Check out a Troopy RTT , 13k or so . czcams.com/video/ZzVLfyhpTak/video.html
Come on mate stretch those T -rex arms and dig deep for Aussie companies
3k is chinese made , for ozzie made 7k
Well what would you suggest over this one then?
Shame they went so political.
Been waiting for you to do one on this rtt im about to buy one I just bought there fire Pitt and table that go’s around it 👌🏻🔥🪵
hope it helped!
@@TylerThompson90 💯% did mate got a soft top Arb only thing I can say is hassle haven to get my son up on top to push it down so I can do the zipper it up so you drifta looks like it will suit my setup
