UK - 1969 Smile were a London-based blues rock band best known as the predecessor to renowned rock band Queen. The band was formed in 1968 by Brian May, who went on to become Queen's guitarist

This song reminds me of the good times when I was in primary school this song was on my playlist. This song is so NOSTALGIC I have no words to describe how much I miss these times.🥺
Was pleasantly surprised by this. Expecting Staffel's voice to be poor in comparison to Freddie's but he did a great job. Good to hear the original version of this before Queen made it even greater.
I love Tim's voice, but I have to say, I feel like Freddie just did a better version of the song. Tim's voice isn't as soft as Freddie's, and that's what makes me like it better.
Tim was very good bass player and an amazing singer, sure wasn't as brilliant as Freddie, but he also should have been very successful in his music career.
I REALLY like this song and LOVE Tim's vocals. After watching bohemian rhapsody I was hoping I could find it on CZcams! I know he ventured off to do other things after the band but does anyone know if he ever got back into music again after leaving smile?? Of course no-one can replace our beloved Freddie but Tim had an awesome natural talent himself! I'd sure hate to know it went to waste!
I adore Smile version!!! If they would not renown to Queen band name, Tim Staffel can do any lyric songs in this band. I feel like they sound like jazz singers: Chuck Berry, Ella Fitzgerald, Roy Orbison and Liza Minnelli. My dream is to play like Queen and any other bands from 60s to 80s to have a best female voice. 👍🎤🪩😀😍
Steffan Pila Tim Staffell's lead vocals on this song "Doing Alright" is absolutely Amazing. I prefer Tim Staffell's lead vocals on this song with his lower but higher octaves vocal style. Freddie Mercury's version of "Doing Alright" is good, but i still prefer Tim Staffell's lead vocals on "Doin' Alright." Thank you!!!
Man I agree that Doin Alright is a bit better,Just sounds more natural and Has a chill vibe meanwhile Queens Version is more rock n roll.Still love both of there amazing songs tho
i thought my headphones were broken at first
😂
Dude me tooo I was like what the heck/wait I just realized they are 😂
Yeah it's just because this song is soooo dang old. Honestly I thought so to
Me tooooooooo
Me too
Brian had perfected his solo in the later queen version
Exactly.... One reason I cant really dig this version although Tim's voice is nice in this one.
And was better in the revisited one
I like this version better in my opinion
I Don't Think At This Time He Knew What Distortion Was
Now His Solos Are More Vibrant and Clear
This version is nice with the Tim's voice but the solo is better with Queen. It would be perfect with a mix of the 2 versions.
Tim had such amazing voice, so clear and powerful
MM C his voice is still good imo. Aged obviously but he’s got power still :)
MM C He still does
Most of the singing is done by Brian in this song believe it or not. But either way yes I agree he has a great voicr
You're dam right
Still does
Thank you tim staffell for giving us a good band
Yep
Yes!
The band was formed by Brian May in 1968, not by Tim Staffell
@@luciadelsol2504 yes but due to Tim leaving, freddie was able to join. Which led to the creation of queen.

Only in my deepest dreams mate
I'd love to go back to 1969 to see smile perform and just think about what is to come for them
Tim's voice is amazing but Freddie is just another level
Ok?
@@MacTonightGaming ok? and??
I love Freddie’s voice, but if this video is with Tim Staffel, then enjoy what you’re hearing here.
It's easily explained Tim is natural and freddie was supernatural
@@kookiesforlife computer
Funny to hear Tim's voice and recognize some parts where Freddie kind of mimics that.
Freddie was better tho
Totally
I get so mad this isn't on Spotify, I love Freddie and his voice but I like this song better in Tim's voice

On a scale of 1-I wanna shoot my foot, how much do you think Tim Staffell regrets leaving smile/Queen?
He doesn't regret it. In an interview he said he's glad that he left so we got Queen we know today.
@@HaNguyen-zc5zo that's actually a pretty nice thing to say I guess :)
Nah cuz he said smile wasn’t going anywhere at least not with him so I’m sure he doesn’t regret it cuz needed to leave in order for Freddie to join
I’ll go with “i wanna shoot my foot”
if he didn't leave, freddie wouldn't have joined lol
At least Tim Staffel remade this song with Smile for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie 50 years later
Imagine, Tim and Freddie singing together in the group along with Roger, Brian, and Deacon.
Sad we never got to hear Freddie Tim Brian and Roger Harmonize 😞

Queen is actually smile but freddy force to rename it to queen

Here's a good interview with him from December 2018. That should answer your question.
thestrangebrew.co.uk/tim-staffell-smile-queen/
Sounds very Badfinger… definitely one of Queens most underrated songs, the production on the album version adds something extra…
The bassline is also improved on the Queen version IMO. Staffell’s playing does not disappoint on this version though. :)
I’m impressed that there is only one thumbs down
1 dislike is disappointing, it should have none
I somehow agree with you both
Look at it now it has like 34 shouldn’t have any thumbs down in my opinion
A good song and if that's Tim Staffel doing the lead vocal he's a great singer. I liked Queen's version even more but this is really good.
Tim sings most but Roger sings the first verse then repeats at end.
Both are beyond beautiful...

I find this better then Freddy’s version❤️ Tim’s voice had his own unique and this song fits perfectly for Tim 👋
He has a very nice voice. Sounds like Freddie borrowed a lot of his style, then developed it further. But "Humpy Bong" was calling, lol.
