  • Laminating a surfboard with a resin swirl tint and cut laps. I used Greenlight marine grade epoxy resin with their colored tints. The fiberglass cloth is 6 oz with two layers on the deck and one layer on bottom with a tail patch. Logo was printed on rice paper by Boardlams and laminated with 1.5oz fiberglass cloth. Surfboard dimensions are 9’2” x 22.75 x 3”.

    @merrittwurts9254 Před 3 lety +3

    Wow this was so freaking awesome! Your videos make my day.
    Couple questions though:
    How did the resin not roll off the board when you were adding all the different mixtures?
    Why do you use extra fiberglass when applying logos?
    How do you know how to deal with the tail and nose when cutting the fiberglass so you dont have spots that are just foam?

    • @BendheimBoards
      @BendheimBoards  Před 3 lety

      Thanks man. Some of the resin does roll off but it just gives more fun colors on the rails. The fiberglass patch protects the logo when sanding so you don’t sand into it. You learn where to cut the fiberglass cloth to overlap correctly and cover the corners

    Wow that looks amazing it came out so nice! Really loving your video's and I'm learning a lot from it. Also your video style and editing is a real pleasure to watch! Soon I'll attempt my first shape and hopefully someday a beautiful glass job like this one.
    Did you use more colour or resin for the deck or same procedure? colours seem more vibrant on the deck and looks like more colour or resin was used, but may just be due to different colours?

    • @BendheimBoards
      @BendheimBoards  Před 3 lety +1

      I used more resin on the deck since I had 2 layers of cloth to get through. I also stirred my clear cups longer on the deck. Both those factors lead to the difference in how the colors bled together. I liked how both sides came in their own way.

    • @BendheimBoards
      @BendheimBoards  Před 3 lety

      I’ve switched to epoxy mostly due to not having the strong resin fumes that poly has. But yes it’s also easier with lamination since it doesn’t kick as fast.

    Hello, I’ve been trying to learn how to glass and I’m confused by how much resin and hardener needed? If I were to glad a 6’5 board and was using two layers on top, 1 6oz and one 4 oz on top, and 2 4oz on bottom how much would I use for each layer? Also if I were to do a resin swirl like you did in this video, which layer would I do that on? Thank you

    • @BendheimBoards
      @BendheimBoards  Před 3 lety +1

      Depends on if your using poly or epoxy resin but you can use Greenlight surf supply’s resin chart to figure that out. You’ll do both layers at the same time for each side, not separately. So the resin swirl will go over both layers.
