- Assembly of First Nations (AFN) chiefs voted to remove RoseAnne Archibald as national chief, bringing a premature end to the tenure of the first woman to hold the position.
71 per cent of First Nations leaders voted in favour of removing Archibald, clearing the threshold of 60 per cent to pass the motion.

That might be extreme, but MONTHLY AUDITS THAT ARE PUBLICLY PUBLISHED would be a minimum .....considering this money is coming directly out of CANADIAN TAXPAYER'S POCKETS.

Most of these chiefs only serve family and friends have seen it first-hand. They should be audited very frequently. It's disgusting what goes on the community should get the help and yet only a chosen few do. This has nothing to do with her gender. Everyone's afraid now if they have to prove where the money went.

Such a shame. Apparently the chief of my husbands band also abuses funds, livng large while the rest of the village struggles to make ends meet. Would be nice to see some of the funds go toward some soxial progams or something. Idk. So sad :(

Audits should be mandatory, and yearly. It keeps everyone honest and gives transparency and trust in the system. I dont mind that they get the money i just want to make sure it goes where its supposed to. This happens way too often than it should, which is never. Seems every culture has its criminals

What does the Nation's Chief ensure? What accountability measures are in place to avoid mismanaging band funds or use the money on failing programs, or used to oversee unjustifiable Band and agency spending habits? Nothing is in place, and bands and agencies find ways to enable drug use and sale on their reservations because of family relationships to seek additional funding for health and social further. Self-government should not be about nepotism or the ability to benefit from the privilege of overseeing economic development or providing those dollars to only on-reserve members.
The Head chiefs, and lower band chiefs need to do more to deal with poverty or how bands handle land claims and lawsuit money.
The money offered does not guarantee economic development because the band will use the money for selfish reasons or manipulate the membership's view about how the money is used only for on-reserve members or for those who control the economic development dealings.
Why does the head Chief and lower Chiefs continue to allow reservations to enable drug dealers to continue living on their reservations and or protect family members who run drug operations in their reserves? Is it to find additional ways to swindle money from the government? Or to validate their inter-provincial/inter-country travel that allows those reservations to learn about some religious system on additions or gangs with no scientific evidence backing their claim.
What about expenses used by the Chief, council and executives of their Agencies?
Why can they mismanage funds or justify their need for travel expenses and additional operating expenses that should come from their wages?
What about doing something to make a framework for economic development and prosperity for all Members, not just for on-reserve? The current state of affairs only benefits on-reserve community members and a select few based on family relationships.
What does the AFN do when poverty is a major issue and economic opportunities do not exist to the extent the province's governments, partnership groups, companies, executives and upper managers receive?
What about the biases doctors have in Alberta or Quebec? The issue is widespread across Canada, where we cannot trust doctors or nurses because of their covert views, beliefs and biases toward Indigenous people.
...the list goes on and on and on.
What about how the Chief and Council can travel inter-provincially for meetings without concrete outcomes they can implement immediately?
Or how do they mismanage funds for "professional development" where they have all expenses paid for?
What about Annual general meetings that take part inter-provincially after spending on upgrades for meeting rooms on reserve?
What about land claim money that benefits only a small number of band members and their lawyers?

She wanted fiscal audits and everybody gets upset how dare she want this.
