I really liked just how human Shaq appeared here. The man is clearly upset but he wont let fo of his pride. If only he let go of his pride, who knows how many more chips they could of had together.
I honestly think Shaq got hurt because deep down he knew it was Kobe's team and Kobe had come into his own and he didnt keep his mouth shut so the big brother ego got to him and the next 2 championships stung a little too he coulda had 5 like Kobe
Kobe was going to go to the bulls if the LAKERS had of kept shaq so dr. Jerry bus called shaq and said that he was starting to age and he didn't want to loose Kobe so he kept Kobe and traded shaq to Miami because they didn't want to pay shaq being the old head for the LAKERS so they kept Kobe. Kobe signed a $136 million dollar 7 year deal over the CLIPPERS.
I love Kobe, but the narrative he tried to create about what happened from 99-04 is garbage; lakers didn’t win til Phil Jackson showed up and built the triangle offense around Shaq, because Shaq was the better player then, by far; Shaq won 3 straight finals mvps, a league mvp and a scoring title while Kobe won nothing except in every playoffs from 01-04 Kobe attempted more shots than Shaq to the dismay of Phil Jackson; but Shaq was still the lakers leading scorer every year they won rings from 99-02; in 03 playoffs and 04 playoffs kobe increased his fga over shaqs by astronomical amounts and Kobe became the leading scorer, by like 1ppg, but the lakers lost; Kobe said the triangle offense was “holding him back”, he got rape charge, Phil Jackson left, and Kobe didn’t get past the first round for 3 years; Phil returns brings back triangle offense “expert” Derek Fisher to run the triangle and smart euro player gasol, and other rebounders to make up for Kobe’s high amounts of missed shots as Phil and Tex build a new triangle around kobe who ends up with two rings in the triangle offense he claimed was holding him back in 04; The league and Kobe try to push the “Kobe’s chasing jordan” thing, so the narrative about what happened from 03-04 is constantly put out about “shaqs work ethic” hoping you’ll forget and just blindly go with the “5 rings” narrative; Kobe is a top great with bird and magic; but he has 2 finals mvps; he was the best player in a finals 2 times; 2 less than Lebron, and 4 less than jordan;
I’m a heat fan and grateful for the time Shaq was here. But I wish Kobe and Shaq would’ve stayed together. That Laker team was one of the greatest teams ever assembled, and the Lakers more then likely would’ve won more championships had they stayed together.
i dont care what is said or done its in the past. these two guys are the best 1-2 punch ever. If they didnt split up they would have like 10 or 11 nba championships by now. noone could stop shaq by himself or kobe by himself. so how do you stop both on the floor? you cant double team 2 diff people so that is impossible. you cant have 4 guys guarding just 2 too many people open. plus shaq dominated inside the paint Kobe dominated outside with jumpers 3s fadeaways. they were the perfect duo ever in NBA history. but hey thats just my opinion so is the 10 NBA championships they could have won.....
+thisguy177 If not 10, at least 6. Because Shaq's numbers were dropping after 2006. But if they had worked things out, they would have 3-peated 2004-2006 for sure. Then Kobe would win 2-3 more ring, maybe 3-peated the 2008-2010 finals. And then he could retire as the best Laker, shooting guard and possibly player ever.
I truly believe that if shaq and kobe on the los angeles lakers didn't have that stupid bickering feud going on between them, they would've won another 3-peat from 2003, 04 and 05 like for real and become one of the nba's next greatest dynasties from many long years of long ago but we can all dream.
Shaq was being selfish around this time. His skills were clearly on the decline, kobe was beginning his prime, and shaq still wanted the offense to run through him. Kobe works his ass off yet shaq takes "company time" to heal from injuries not to mention he was constantly out of shape.
KOBE LEGIT COST THEM THE FUCKING SERIES AGAINST THE PISTONS Shaq was killing them and kobes shot jacking cost them the series, nigga got outplayed by chauncey and Hamilton, it was sad Chauncey in an interview even said they let shaq just score at will so kobe naturally wouldnt get enough shots and get disgruntled and start shot jacking. Kobe being dumb as fuck back them cost them that shit
it's wild how people don't realize Kobe was the one in the wrong. Shaq didn't mind Kobe becoming better it was the fact that Kobe didn't play high iq team ball.
Shaq did stick around another 2 seasons after his last Championship with the Lakers so its not like the fall from grace was as abrupt as people want to make it seem...I honestly believe the Shaq-Kobe duo stayes together as long as they possibly could but even Kobe came into his own and was ready to lead and Shaq was better off going to the Heat where he could be the bigger half to Wade
After the LA Lakers lost to the Detroit Pistons in five games in 2004, Shaq and kobe era in LA came to an end, Shaq traded to the Miami heat, kobe Bryant stayed with the Lakers
+QuickStix26 Sure you can tell they are both lying, but Kobe handled the situation like a mature adult. Shaq was like 7 years older and he was acting like a kid who got his feelings hurt.
JG32 Shaq averaged 27 pts 11 RBS shooting 63℅ against defensive player of year in Ben wallace in NBA finals. Kobe averaged 22 shooting 38℅ from field and an 18% from 3. Kobe shot 118 times compared to shaqs 84 times. Kobe shot 34 more times than Shaq in 6 games and Shaq still averaged 5 more points than Kobe. A declined Shaq still better than Kobe. Look at lakers next year with Kobe as leader. loosing record while Shaq was leading Heat to title. Kobe is just lucky because he played for Lakers where it's easy to get free agents because they want to go to LA
Shaq said if there will be another coach who can take a team to four finals out of five years, he will kiss his feet on fear factor with cheese on it. Since then, Erik Spoelstra managed to bring the Miami Heat to four consecutive finals (2011-2014), while Steve Kerr managed to bring the warriors to 5 straight finals (2015-2019)
2:26 "If a coach takes a team to the finals 4 out of 5 years, I will kiss his feet on Fear Factor, with cheese on it. That will never be done again." Since then, Erik Spoelstra, Steve Kerr, and Ty Lue has been to the Finals 4/4 times (Kerr 5 times)
after taking them to their 5th Finals too. Weird. But it'd be hard to suddenly say to Shaq. On the other hand, Shaq sounds upset and disappointed. You can see the difference between their two personalities. Kobe's just different. He's more serious and has a vision of where he wants to go and what he wants to achieve. Shaq is more laid back and casual. You can see how their two personalities would clash. Lots of other NBA players in other interviews said he didn't quite respect anyone who didn't commit, work hard or take the game as serious has he did. Shaq does seem immature in this interview. I can see why their relationship strained. Shaq said he left for Miami because he wanted more money than what they were giving him. But if they gave him more money then there would be fewer quality role players. That team was getting old and injury plagued. I think Phil left because he didn't want to coach a rebuilding team. He wanted a contender. It's interesting to see how Kobe came to mature after this point, figuring out the balance of the game, and lead his new teams to championships.
@@bretcarr2001 kobe was great but he aint no best player on that lakers team for sure, he did prove himself in 2009-2010 but during the 2000-2002 three-peat Shaq was the man no doubt and btw Kobe ain't no shit compared to Shaq when they both joined Lakers in 1996

You know what's funny, fans and Kobe criticized Shaq for being out of shape. Shaq only started to decline his production in 2003-2004, when he was 31-32 y/o. Most of the great centers like Kareem, Moses and Hakeem declined in their production at the age at 31-34 y/o too, look at the stats, and they were in great shape and still decline, due to age. Calling out your teammates in public is some bitch behaviour. If Phil Jackson at the time thought Shaq needed to be the first man, it is because he knew was the right move, Kobe just needed to play great and step up his game, so Phil would have give him the chance to be the main guy after 2005 or even in later 2003-04 season, but he didnt step up as a leader and acted like a bitch. Also, dont forget that Shaq stepped up in the 2004 finals and put 26 pts on 60%, agaisnt one of the best defense of the decade. He didnt dominate them, but he really did the best he could, not like "other players". Sooner or later they would have get rid of Shaq, the Lakers didnt want to pay him the money he was asking, and playing that amount of games in 5 years would have let the Lakers without gas in the tank, but, IMO, Kobe acted impatient and that costed him 1 or 2 rings, even an MVP and FMVP. I'm pretty sure Shaq was way more happier than Kobe, he truly appreciated his teammate with the UPS and downs and he maybe still have a great relantionship with them. In the other hand, Kobe is respected as a competitor, but he left so much to fulfill as a human being.

I mean Steve Kerr did go to the Finals 4 of 4 years....
Shaq get ready to kiss Steve feet lol 😂
You could hear Shaq was still salty and a kid but Kobe was over it.
Shaq needs to kiss Steve Kerr’s feet 😂
He said in the next 5 years, no coach did that from 04-09 so he’s good lol
Seeing made me realise shaq was 34 35 when he won in miami
Yup. 34 in 2006
Here are two Guy's won 3 ring together and shaq mentioned he doesn't have kobys cell # what?
Shaq has hair?
"it'll never be done again"
(Meanwhile Steve Kerr takes Golden State goes to 5 Finals in a Row)
Shaq owes Eric Spolstra a kiss on his feet with cheese on them, on the last year of that 5 year window he started a run that took the Heat to 4 finals in 4 years 🌚🌚🌚🌚
Wait so shouldn't shaq be licking Steve Kerr's feet on fear factor?? Someone call Joe Rogan, this needs to get done
