On my 2000 Toyota Corolla Linja Terra 1.6 it had a strip of plastic on the back containing the wires for each plug, which prevented me taking out the shock plug covers, I just removed the two bolts and it moved enough to take the plugs out, so if you try to pull the plugs out and they wont come out check the plastic strip at the back :), thanks for a great video!

Hi, the are answers. You can tighten spark plug without torque wrench: First tighten plug so much, that it takes contact and then tighten 1/2 rotation using tool. And you can start motor directly.

Don't forget to gap your spark plugs according to factory specs. During shipping, Impacts close the gap little by little, and if you install them without the proper gap you can have idle issues and, or performance problems... Gapping makes a world of a difference

Thank you for your video. I'm broke and my dad, gotten old, so I have no choice but to learn for my self.. 😅 I'm pretty sure it's this that is the problem. I've heard you should change everyone at the same time. Not just one that is broken? I guess that is why.. A friend changed one just half a year ago. Now another one. And I have no engine shell/protection and the engine heater is broken too. Living in north Sweden. It's cold here.
What about oil consuming Toyota? I never had a car I had to be this careful always checking the oil every now and then. Is it a bad sign? My friend said it's normal for the old Toyota cars to do. I had some power up/ oil cleans in it and try to cleans the gas every now and then. How often should one do the power up to the oil in a car that consumes oil? It made my engine much more quiet. Lots of questions.. 😅

All the best for you. 👍😀😀 It sounds to me that you have the same junk car as I had when I was young, man, my car was a Saab 900 and it consumed 1 liter of oil per 1 km. The engine cut out somewhere in the highlands of Jutland...
But for your car, you have a rotten machine and you can drive it as long as it fires. Remember to add oil to the top of the dipstick up to MAX every day. See Video about oil quantity MAX level.
And buy the next car Toyota hyprid.

Do not change your ignition coils unless you are not getting any spark to a cylinder. You can check that but I would be starting with the induction system to check for dirty throttle body or leaks.

Thanks Peter. I just purchased NGK Iridium plugs. The manufacturer says putting the right torque on the plugs is important and that anti seize compounds are discouraged as they are not needed with the higher quality plugs and can, in fact, cause the plugs to be over torqued as they act like a lubricant.

  • @warretw

I'm extremely anal, when it comes to my car(This is just my wife's opinion),so this is how I'm replacing spark plugs on my 2006.,Toyota Corolla.
First,i blow all dust and dirt with air compressor before pulling spark plugs out.
I like to brush little bit of anti-seez on the treads of each new spark plug. (Like Edelbrock or Bostik)
When I'm inserting new spark plug,i trie to keep it in the right angle as much as possibile and first go slightly counter clockwise until you feel a little tiny jump.
    I always use torque wrench.
Before installing spark plug boot,i rub in and out lightly some "Dielectric Tune-up grease" like the one made by Permatex.
