  • We will determine the problem so we can buy parts to fix the DXR2. That’s the bummer is having it down while waiting for parts to show up. Just like full scale! I can’t believe what I found when I got the drive hub apart.

    G’day mate. Thanks so much for this helpful video. I was having trouble re-positioning the o’ring after disassembling. Hope you’re still having fun with your dozer. God bless & many thanks 😊

      Thanks for watching. That o ring can be tricky. Dozer is running great and pushing its weight around here still😉😊. And of course I’m having a blast running it still, it makes working fun. 👍

    Glad I watch this video I was gonna get this Dozer but I'm definitely not now that bulldozer weighs 60 pounds and them gears are way under sized for that big heavy thing unbelievable they made the parts that needed to be beefed up so small.. They should have made that one single gear with mod1 gears they are far stronger and would be perfectly suited for what it does!

    • @digitrc
      @digitrc  Před 5 měsíci

      You should see the gear reduction unit on the 4200xl stock drives. Those are tiny gears! These in this drive reduction unit wouldn’t be bad but the material they are made from is so brittle. If they were stainless or even brass they would probably hold up fine.

    Ah the fun of tiny threads and planetaries.. Guessing no parts available? Just made me think of the cordless drill planetaries that usually fail. Personally I would have to have taken that whole drive apart, de-grease, inspect thoroughly then relube with some quality synthetic grease. There are some awesome synthetic greases out there that repel water, and are white, so you can see the silver of gear wear. Good Luck and interesting Vid!

    • @digitrc
      @digitrc  Před rokem +1

      More difficult to find parts yes! But not impossible. The tiny threads are ridiculous! I wish this thing had a better planetary gear system.

    I saw that you asked someone where to get the steel tracks.There is a guy in Australia that makes the steel tracks and a more to scale blade. Look up rc construction projects.

    Drill micro holes in the tracks for the rocks so that they can fall out instead of pushing the track up getting jammed they sell the track with extra holes for debri

      Weak metal gears would be my guess. We will see if the ones I replaced them with hold up better.

    I was thinking about your dozer again and was thinking? Have you ever had a issue with your pins backing out? I know that was always a huge issue for everyone on these dozers. I had spot glued all mine with still a removable option as I was going through mine out of box. But then I went ahead and bought the steel tracks with the holes and e-clip pins. I have also seen were others have drilled holes in their stock tracks for debris passing.

    • @digitrc

      I have not had any issues with the tracks or track pins. Where did you get your upgraded tracks?

      @@awesomusmaximus3766 it’s ridiculous how fast some of this stuff comes loose so quick. If it was secured well to begin with. There is the other extreme as well, I’ve had some fasteners that they used some kind of loctite and I could not remove the fasteners without using extreme heat. That was on my loader.

      @@awesomusmaximus3766 sweet! The wait can be so long sometimes.
      I just put my last brushed motor in mine and it’s back up and running again. I don’t worry about maintenance on these drives because it gets its maintenance during repairs and that happens more often than it should. 😁
