    Thank you so much for creating this wonderful tutorial/demo for my new VCO - it was really needed! And the comments here about the module also mean a lot to me - thanks everyone! I have been dreaming about creating a VCO like this for a couple years, and am thrilled with the results. But I was almost panicking at the thought of trying to create a tutorial myself. You covered so much material in a relatively short amount of time - amazing. And I learned something - I had never thought about driving 0 Hz carrier mode via phase - love it! Note to everyone - the "Mix" phase is actually a global phase that affects the core VCO phasor, before any mixing, so it affects all waveforms equally. I hope users take the time to read the documentation, 'cuz there are yet more details that Omri could not fit into the video. And if anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to post a question in the VCV Community Forum. Or if you are shy, you can email me - contact info is in my VCV library pages, and also in the module context menu under "Info".

    That sounds awesome. Thank you Omri, I've learned more from this tutorial than me playing around with it for a few days. Also, please don't feel like you need to apologise for the length of these vids. The more info, the better. 👍

    This looks like one of the most interesting VCOs I've seen in Rack so far. So much possibility.

    A great way to explore phase distortion is to send a pure saw or ramp wave (maybe from VCO Lab) through Reformation, and then to 0Hz Carrier VCO Lab phase input. You can explore all sorts of phase (phasor) distortion via the Reformation. The ultimate might be to simply use ShapeMaster as the phasor driving the 0Hz Carrier VCO Lab phase.

    So much depth. Love it. Sometimes i long for some of this great functionality with less “remember all these quirks” workflow.
    Being able to tune the different shapes seems like something obvious that i miss quite a lot.
    The 40% trick seems like a strange way yo get around tuning one up an octave, etc.

      Yeah, I also missed it at the beginning, but it's nice having some limitations that open up doors to other creative ideas like modulating phase. It's also easy enough to have 2 or 3 Labs just in case.

    Terrorform by Valley has a one shot sync mode, and, really, any oscillator can be used for pulsar- type effects if you control the level with an envelope whose duration is close to the wavelength of the oscillator, triggering the envelope and the sync input at audio/sub audio rates. You don't have to do the math, just use your ears and maybe a scope to find the right combination of trigger freq, oscillator freq, and envelope. (PS Rampage has v/oct control.)

    Wow!This is incredible. What a deep bit of kit… Serious kudos to the Developer on this one 👌 I really like what Venom are producing, really interesting stuff. Would you consider doing a video on the Benjolin Oscillator coz that thing is a mystery to me. I’ve had a play around with it but couldn’t do much beside make whacky noises that would’ve suited some Sci-Fi B movie ;) Cheers for this wonderful insight though man, this is going to keep me busy for some time methinks! 🍄

    There's always at least one, usually several, "Ooh, I didn't even think of that" moments in an Omri deep-dive video :D
    One dev/module set that IMHO deserves a re-visit is the Frequency Domain stuff- you did a Ball of Confusion video in 2020, but I'm guessing more than a few users find them intimidating to try jumping into. FFT/iFFT-based processing is very powerful, but not quite as intuitive as ye olde analogue methods.

    Hey omri not to get off topic of the video but do you ever send vcos from vcv rack into your rack and back into vcv? I saw your video using vcv sequencers for your rack vcos but an example would be send pitch from hardware sequencer to vcv vco, sending vcv vco output into hardware envelope or lpg, and then back into vcv?

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  Před měsícem

      Hi, I did try that a few times, but sending signals back and forth adds a lot of latency, so I'm not doing this so often.

    • @joeymc5272
      @joeymc5272 Před měsícem

      @@OmriCohen-Music oh ok. Thanks Omri once again i appreciate you getting back to me. I have tried it a couple of times now with that same problem of latency. Not sure if its something that can ever get resolved in later firmwares but one can hope. Its a lot of back and forth so latency is expected.
