    Cortina's current parish church, dedicated to Saints Philip and James, was built between 1769 and 1775 on the ruins of earlier churches from the 13th and 16th centuries. The spectacular bell tower ('el Ciampanin'), symbol of the famous tourist resort, was built by the Ampezzo architect Silvestro Franceschi between 1852 and 1858 to replace the previous tower, built at the end of the 1500s. Its famous concert of 6 bells, sung in B flat major, was made by the bell foundryman Johannes Grassmayr from Wilten (Innsbruck), then the best known in the entire Habsburg Empire. The RE3 bell dates back to 1851. It was initially made to replace the big one of the previous concert bells made by Luigi and Osvaldo Soletti of Treviso in 1821 (the big one) and 1834 (the two small ones), after the numerous breakages of the previous bells (also by Soletti). The other five bronzes, including 'el Canpanon', date from 1857.
    Bb2 = J.Grassmayr in Wilten, 1857 - 3073,77 kg; 176,6 cm
    D3 = J.Grassmayr in Wilten, 1851 - 1454,76 kg; 137,2 cm
    F3 = J.Grassmayr in Wilten, 1857 - 860,50 kg; 115,5 cm
    Bb3 = J.Grassmayr in Wilten, 1857 - 361,50 kg
    D4 = J.Grassmayr in Wilten, 1857 - 192,29 kg
    F4 = J.Grassmayr in Wilten, 1857 - 120,53 kg
    In addition to these 6 bells, 2 others are hoisted, the largest for ringing the hours while the smallest is the Agony bell from the (no longer existing) church of St. Catherine:
    C4 = Angelo Ottolina in Bergamo, 1959
    F#4 = anonymous bell founder, 1570
    All eight bells are mounted on a spectacular, mighty and dense wooden frame, in some places adorned with carvings.

    La "firma" Grassmayr è riscontrabile dal giro di decorazione goticheggiante che si trova sulla parte alta della campana...

      Quella in fila con le 3 piccole è la campana dell'Agonia (suona per annunciare la morte di un parrocchiano quindi). L'altra credo suoni solo per le ore
