  • Ryan and Greg are back for the season finale of American Horror Story: NYC. In the emotional “Requiem 1981/1987: Part 1 & 2,” AHS emphasizes the very real horrors that so many people had to deal with in the 1980s as they suffered and died alone during the HIV/AIDS epidemic. With nods to ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘Angels in America,’ we see the heartwrenching conclusions to our characters' journeys. We also get answers to Big Daddy’s identity, and why no one can outrun him.

Needless to say, this was a difficult finale to watch - and having lived during that time made it all the more real - - and I think that's what made this a "horror story" because we lived through it. I think it was a great reminder of what happened... the suffering that people endured and also the lack of support from the government etc. Not what i expect from AHS, but well done. i also saw the lack of diversity in this season as a problem but the more i thought about it this season became even more heartbreaking because it so directly mirrored that period where the black and brown communities were not only ignored but simply treated as invisible…we didnt even get the honor or being treated poorly we simply were invisible…this season is a message of a larger reckoning our country has to have and shows just how horrific and traumatic real life can actually be. He represented the virus, the fear and anxiety of the community at the time. He only ever went after the people who were sick or in danger of being sick. Remember in the park when Patrick shot him, his partner didn't see him? He didn't see him because he wasn't sick or in danger of catching the virus.

I think that is the explanation they were going for - tho we do not get an explanation about what happend to his body.

I love Patti Lupone & her version of the song is good. The song “ Calling You” was recorded in 1987 by Jevetta Steele for a movie called Bagdad Cafe. Jevetta Steele version is hypnotic. The movie was released in 1988.

Ooft were these two eps emotional. I think the general tone of this whole season was jus sad cause of how real it was. I had a great time. Do I wish it were more of the campy supernatural AHS that we usually get. Kinda. But that woulda prolly did a big disservice to this season. I think I wanted more answers to the more supernatural theories of the show specially big daddy and the weird subway lady. Was he jus a metaphor and how does a metaphor throw a molotov, or was he a ghost and was waiting for others infected to die? I dunno. Great season, cant wait for more of your content to come.

I had to pause it several times it was so emotional although I am an 82 baby I still remember the late '80s early '90s so this hits very hard out of all the seasons of only cried twice that was the end of 1984 season 9 and at the end of season 11 out of all the seasons those of the two seasons that made me cry for the last episode it got me and I'm typically not a crier but boy did they get me this season I was a wet mess over here 😦😥 😭😭😭😢😢😢😥 truly one of the most powerful endings throughout all the seasons this was the most powerful the most emotional it just hit very differently

This tbh is my least favorite season just for that reason. I am a AHS enthusiast, lover , and a loyal viewer... But as this world gets more n more PC.... This season was good, unpopular opinion, but it's been the most real one so far. Maybe the majority of AHS fans prefer to go back to the fantasy types with Witches vs Warlocks, Haunted Houses and Hotels, Vampires etc. Maybe they don't like to see a real story.
