I am Dutch but live 30 minutes away from the German border. I grew up with semmel knödel and I swear no one here knows what I'm talking about when I mention them. They are soooo good and there is nothing comparable to them here. When we go grocery shopping in Germany (once, twice a year) I always stock up on them. I ate them all the time when I lived in a student dorm too!
Semmel knödel is definitely superior to the potato ones in my opinion

There is so much money to be made if people would just spread out those things like Semmelknödel, Awesome Mexican Burritos, American Barbecue, Döner Kebab and all of those things in the different countries. I never get why people don't do that... it's a fortune you can make with that stuff.

There is a surprising difference in Semmelknödel flour that you can buy. I have no idea how they can be so different.
After I was 2 month in the Netherlands, the first thing I did after I came back to Germany was to buy the darkest, hardest bread I could find. Finally no white toast bread to put the cheese on!

If you go to München and want to do a video on a great place for schnitzel, go to Drei Mühlen. They have several types of schnitzel that are awesome! We make breaded fried sauted chicken in a pan like that here in the United States, some of us even put gravy on it, I make a delicious Hunter's gravy with mushrooms. I also make dumplings and I also make purple red cabbage from scratch and I put raisins in it and it's delicious.

I am Dutch but my parents come from Suriname. My fathers parents come from India and my mothers parents are from Fiji. Back in 1900's when slavery was not allowed anymore, they (The Dutch, English etc.) created Contract laborers. The VOC (Dutch East India Company) went to Asia (India, Indonesia (Java) and others). To get people to work on their plantation's around the world and in Suriname. This ofcours was never done in a friendly manner. Then after 1904 all that contract stuff stopped. And the Dutch wich owned Suriname told them that they can stay in Suriname or go back home. Many stayed and so allot of food cultures fused. It is why you have allot of Surinamese foods in The Netherlands wich tastes different then the original mostly. It is for everyone what they like better ofcours. So i hope when you come to the Netherlands again you try the Best Surinamese restaurants or take aways places. 👍🏽😇

American friends of ours who moved to Ireland 10 years ago recently came back on a visit (we’re British by the way) to us in Reno, Nevada. As I was cooking lunch, the American lady asked us about the food here, commenting that, after living in Ireland she now realised how poor the general quality of food is in the USA. We frequently visit Europe, the UK and Australia and all I could do was agree with her. America gives me cravings for lots of non-American food, especially the basics - bread, butter, eggs, bacon, fish, potatoes, chocolate, candy bars, fruit, all of which taste better and are available with more choice in other countries.

I am german and I love Döner as much as you. It is the perfect fast food. It is so hearty because of the meat and the sauce (guys really try to find a shop that uses real meat and not just minced meat). At the same time it is so fresh because of all the vegetables. Then the bread is the next game changer. It needs to be real flat bread and it needs to be toasted. For Sauces I recommend, Garlic, Herb and spicey (all together)

@@DeanaandPhil Well I love seeing the German scenery and food. I would also love seeing the Poland scenery and food, same with Austria. Also have interest in Italy and a couple other European countries. Not so much interested in Scandinavian countries. Not interested in seeing fermented shark or sheep heads. I also definitely love the USA tours. The next time you come to the USA, please have Deana take you to Williamsburg Virginia and the old country, and also Myrtle Beach for the Fantastic seafood buffets and beautiful beaches. Both places are very close to where Deana's family is in South Carolina.

Ich mag dieses Videoformat, schön querbeet, wie es gerade kommt. Außerdem mag ich Bäckereien. Und Döner.

Since I got my 49€ Deutschlandticket, I went to Cologne a few times and tried the Döner that was voted No.1 in Germany. Spoiler alert, it was good, but not the best I've ever had. The bread was fresh, which was very nice, the taste of the meat was okay, but I didn't really like the texture. I'll try "Haus des Döners" next time and maybe it is better. I'm usually quite satisfied with the Döners you can buy on the "Dönermeile" in Krefeld (The street that starts directly at the central station and is littered with Döner Kebab shops.)

We have a version of Doner in the Netherlands but in Germany the Doner is from a higher standard and a much better quality.
    A good meal deal!

I have to agree with Phil the Döner is my favorite i think. But I've been living in bavaria for about 8 months now (Inspired by you two) and I love the simplicity of german quisine and the best bier in der welt.
