Dilla was always able to bring that energy out of Common that other producers can't. I love the stuff he does with Kanye but it doesn't take you all over the place like Dilla x Common collabs.
i would say one of the hottest beats of all time.
When I first heard E=MC2, I damn near lost my mind. I hit repeat multiple times. I agree, one of Dilla's BEST tracks.
how he knew that brenton wood sample would fit perfectly is madness.
Love this beat. Dilla is definitely missed.
Videos Been Up For 7yrs and No Dislikes...As It Should Be... Happy Born Day Dilla #RIP
OMFG YES JEEDO, This track is WAKEUP THE DEAD DOPE. Kinda gut wrenching when that synths mesh with the drums and bass. As Common says GET UP. It make everyone do it once played. Yeah Top 3 for sure. Thanks for continuing to make these joints bruh.
Peace...Netm8kr
throughout the atmosphere this rap here is somethin that I felt in the moment
Joshua McLaughlin cause I write inspires like ROOTS
@@AS-fz5dp of truth... Opponents in the both... Inspired.... Cause what I write is FIRE like ROOF
..of all these episodes......THIS IS THE BEST!!!!!....I'm BANGING MY HEAD TO THIS.......AWWWWWWWWWW DAAAAAAAAAAYUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I def agree Wajeed. One of my favorite beats. The drums Dilla put on that sample were incredible. Amazing
i heard the original for the first time on gta: liberty city stories, when i heard the common version i could never believe it was sampled!
Yes, that's my warmup song at the gym, him n common did work.
that bass THUMPS, such an Ill track.
I will the same way about E=MC2. It was crazy. Common was on hit with his verse, even J Rocc opening scratch intro was nice. RIP J Dilla forever
Great to come back to these videos. The love is timeless!
Need Q tip and Pete Rock to do an episode of this its that serious!
Bellissimo sapere che uno dei beats più riconosciuti di Dilla ha qualcosa di italiano :)
Bananas is the PERFECT word for this..... thank you sir.
The whole album is crazy!
Best ever!
No words. Just Dilla. Thelonius.
Won’t Do
Climax
Donuts…all those joints
Def in my top 5 of all dilla beats
And Questlove, De La Soul and Kariem Riggins too!!!
Absolutely within the top 3! Thank you Waajeed! I pretty much put this track on every mixtape/dj gig I play to get people into decent Hip Hop. Yes, I have doubles of "The Shining" on vinyl. Btw, the only other person I've seen do the track justice is Billy Bang /watch?v=pdJETWEY4yI
Could we perhaps have your collective opinions on "Think Twice"?
GIORGIO!
I was just thinking that the other day.
In top 3 of dilla beats...yeah I can get agree with that
One of my all-time fav Dilla joints. Thas dat ol' scrunch-face headnod cold give you the gargoyle face like you crunched a dorito chip wit ants on it type shit. Type beat, put dat joint in ya car stereo and smoov crash ya whole shit. Car type gaffled up but yo ass STILL crawl out dat muhfukka headnoddin' like a crackhead wit whiplash 'cus the beat just TOO DAMN RAW! Ya'll know I ain't lyin'...DILLA DA GREATEST!

LOL!
In my humble opinion, Electric Circus would've been better with just Common rapping over beats like THIS. Fuck the rest of the Soulquarians--just Common and J-Dilla making an album with songs like THIS.
Sorry, but Dilla and Questlove are a match made in heaven. D'Angelo on keys is a bonus
Fleezy81 Yes, they are...ON PAPER. Sadly, Electric Circus is an example of that old saying of Too Many Cooks.
In Scratch magazine Dilla confirmed in an interview that Electric Circus is exactly what Common wanted to make....don't forget the wave he was on at that time...thrift store everything and all that.
I remember hearing a different version on an unreleased beat tape.
I didn't like that shit AT ALL.
I relayed that opinion to a friend of mine before I heard The Shining when it came out.
He looked at me like... o_O "Nigga... Are you CRAZY???"
I was HELLA confused...
...then I heard the version on The Shining and felt SO stupid.
