    Tribute to Alyn, and a night-sky calendar, just like Alyn did. What a wonderful video.

    Thank you for mentioning Alyn, he will be missed. I am still shocked by the news, he was such a nice young man.
    Thank you for mentioning comment Pons-Brooks I will try to photograph it with my secondary camera. The main camera will have an effective focal length of 630mm and judging by your view of the sky the view will be too narrow to get a close up of the eclipse and the comet.
    Thank you for mentioning me and congratulations on correctly pronouncing my surname. When I graduated 42 years ago, the professor of the English department was reading out all of the names and he mispronounced my surname. My parents were not impressed with that.

      You're welcome, I'm glad i pronounced your name correctly! The 630 mm will probably work very well to capture the solar eclipse. The combi with Jupiter and comet Pons Brooks may be possible with a widefield lens if you have a second camera. I'd not change the lens during totality. It only lasts about 4 minutes. Clear skies.

      @@AstroForumSpace The second camera is a Fujifilm X-E3 with the 18-55mm lens. The plan is to use an intervalometer with the main camera with the camera set to do AE-autobracketing with a sequence of 9 images. The intervalometer will be set to take the images every 6 or so seconds. I will also AE-autobracket the second camera and hand hold it, this camera can do a sequence of 7 images. The zoom can be adjusted to get the framing right, the main camera should manage itself. If will be mounted on an EQ modified AZ-GTI. When I used it in Argentina I forgot to reset the alignment, the mount was set to my home and it tracked for the northern hemisphere. Hopefully I will do better this year.
      Have a wonderful time on the 8th, whatever you do.

      @@mikehardy8247 Thank you Mike. I was shocked when Wido mentioned his death. There is a tribute to him on the BBC news website, the article is called "Welsh astrophotographer, 34, dies in Turkey".

    Sad and surprised of Alyn's passing. In one of his lsst documented adventures he ssid he got sick on the mountain top. Gallbladder complications I just read. His "Z " and "V" brackets ?

    I hope the forecast will be wrong, but most of the US where you can see a total or partial eclipse .... is supposed to be cloudy.

      Still some days left for the weather to change. Let's hope for the best!

    On April 10 2024, the Comet 12P, a sliver of the Moon, Jupiter, Uranus and the Pleiades will be pretty align, to where you can use a 50mm lens to capture them all. Do You have any suggestions on settings and time exposures for this.

    • @AstroForumSpace
      @AstroForumSpace  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That will be very tricky to capture as 12P is (too?) close to the Sun.
