This is why people like an Anthony Bourdain who seemed to "have it all" wind up killing themselves because of the demons they have to live with in private. Enjoy your youth young people..but believe it when I say your young years and the decisions you make now will revisit you at a later time.

At one time Kevin Hart was the “real comic not getting air time.” Probably around the time Dave Chapelle was getting all the air time. What most also do not know is Kevin Hart could work on 3 films at a time, all he is required to do is show up to his trailer, know his lines, and hit his mark. And he could move on to the next shot in an entirely different film. The editing, the sound, and storytelling can take on a life of its own outside of Hart’s involvement and therefore the final product is not 100% his doing. I do not understand the one comic at a time thing and would like to know more about that because it’s bull. It would be good for us the consumer to allow competition resulting in better quality films.
Judah TheOracle the one black comic at a time theory is obviously not something liberal Hollywood will expressly admit. However, seeing that when that one comic is hot, the market is saturated with their product in the mainstream. Historical data supports this. He was probably one of the wealthiest men ever and yet he realised that in comparison with spiritual things, mans idea of what's important is rubbish. The apostle Paul said the same thing in Phil 3:8 where he said " I have taken the loss of all things and I consider them as a lot of refuse, that I may gain Christ".

Every man has a spiritual need. Most people though are not conscious of it. It lies dormant for most people, sadly all their lives. Instead they fill their lives sub consciously looking for meaning and fulfillment in hobbies, careers, drugs, alcohol, dissolute lifestyles etc. The famous end up in rehab or living in houses with 22 bathrooms, as if its the 22nd bathroom that will give their life more meaning!
Look at people whose children leave home and the parents end up rattling round in a big old house. What do they do? Scale back? No for the most part they will often extend the property by adding an extra couple of bedrooms and garage. It's as if they hope that materialism will somehow fill that gaping hole in their lives, that by building this extra rooms, that somehow a hole in their lives will be filled. Only it doesn't. They bed up wandering around from room to room, lost and deep down unhappy but unable to put their finger on exactly why! And why? Because they are not as Jesus said "conscious of their spiritual need".
What did Jesus say in
Matt 8:20 "Foxes have dens and birds of heaven have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay down his head.” But was he unhappy at having little in the way of material things? No. He was a very happy and contented man because he was extremely conscious of his spiritual need.

And the final confrontation with the equally great Ivan Dixon, (Lonnie) who knew his path (an intended robbery) was a dead end, doomed to fail, is just as riveting too.

Very interesting perspective. Contrasting to my own in many respects. I think the challenge is that success requires a lot of effort over time. We know that effort requires overcoming laziness. We know that means waking up earlier, going to bed later, working when you're tired etc. But what isn't talked about enough is the real sacrifice. I'm talking about turning down social activities to focus on your goal. It might seem trivial to think about how you aren't going to the pub with your friends each week and how that's a small price to pay. But that choice means that you are slowly becoming less a part of that group, meaning that you are endangering your social support network. You also are missing out on life experiences that you would share together. Those stories you can reminisce on. Or maybe you turn down the invitation that night when that special someone is tagging along and you would have got together and maybe fallen in love, got married and started a family.
That is the cost of success. The price is real sacrifice and there is no guarantee that it will be the right choice. Overcoming laziness is one thing. Turning down the life you want for the life you feel you should have? That is another entirely.

I moved to NYC in September of 2017 to pursue acting. A lifelong dream on all fronts. I got work almost immediately, TV roles, plays etc within 2 weeks of moving to New York. I spent the fall and winter acting, being in major productions. Then the truth about the industry started to spill out and I heard the whispers about it on some of the productions I was involved in. I moved back to where I came from just this past September lol. A year was enough. Dream or no dream, I dont want to rub elbows with people who assault or molest or rape, or those who are complicit with silence in exchange for reward. Not for me. Maybe if the industry cleans house and becomes about the craft, the work, I'll give it another go. Until then, I'm perfectly content where I am.

I was one of the kids that always listened to the older generation. Even though they thought I wasn't. I always took what they said and ran with it. Specially when I would see things in my everyday life that they would warn me about. It was like I had all they answars to the test of life. It's steered me in the right direction till this day👌🏿.
