Now I can finally play Minecraft
With shaders+tessellation+RayTracing+textures
Gimme those shaders
WolkerSam tesselation 🤔
But you'll never be able to play minesweeper..
You need 2 rtx quadra 8000 and 4 cpu xeon phi 56 cores
Now i can finally see that enemy beside me in fortnite from the reflection off my gun
you joke but that's definitely going to actually be a thing whenever these ray tracing cards are actually affordable for the masses.
BarfyMan362 minimum of 10 years to have an affordable price for them.
BarfyMan362 i know that, after watching videos explaning ray tracing i figured i could see the enemy from the gun reflection
This will certainly change how the game is designed...I can see lots of raytrace exploits coming. Hopefully sound design matches the background action in the reflections to some degree as well.
+Dipyaman Chattaraj
They're already affordable for many. The cheapest one is $500.
Graphics already are better than ever but AI, gameplay and dynamic nature of the games is far behind.
It looks weird when such realistic looking games don't have proper physics and are kind of static
But that's nothing NVIDIA can change. The hardware won't influence how developers write their code and implement such elements you mentioned.
The AI used in these cards is very different from the "AI" in games. The "AI" in games is just manually programmed behavior. The deep learning which will be hardware accelerated in this generation is to make a computer replicate given examples.
One thing they showed off with their AI is that they let a computer compare images with no AA with versions which had extremely high AA settings so that it can now make images without AA look almost perfect.
I guess it could potentially work to get better bots for competitive games by training the networks against the best players, but it is too unpredictable to use for AI in singleplayer games.
Not to mention how stuff like physics is really tricky to get done. You get your character to fall at some normal looking speed, and enemies that react to bullets or arrows nicely, on the other hand you have boxes and enemy corpses flying around like nuts. You get those boxes nice and heavy, enemy corpses are not easy to drag around, suddenly you have enemies who are shot with a freakin shot gun from up close, yet they just impotently drop down on the spot.
What else would you expect from happening when you shot someone with a shotgun? The effects of people flying several meters in Hollywood films are ridiculously inaccurate. If the shells of the shotgun could indeed deliver such an impact, whoever shots the gun would also experience the same force as in Newton's 3rd law: F=F'
Since that is not the case, the target of a shotgun will simply fall down as the momentum of the shells is by far not great enough to move a person of about 80 kg.
@@Ygerna but like in movies, most real life things don't look good in video games. No one wants to shoot things and see them nonresponsively collapse, people want to see violent reactions to violent actions.
Nice shirt. Is he working for ThePiratebay? XD
pirategay
I think it’s the Blackwake logo.
Thought it was an AC black flag shirt at first
pirating UE4 😂
I just want realistic 3d VR games ..
ZeeC this will help
Like a lot. U guys need to realize that vr games are more demanding because u cant fake 3d with 2d maps. A lot of stuff u see in games that looks so real are just clever 2d maps.
"games"
This is two $1000 video cards running 60, maybe 30 fps, getting to 144 will take some time, not to mention affordability.
Detroit: Become Human: VR Edition
This technology is revolutionary. This is the future of graphics. So excited to see what they do with this!
TazerGlen waiting to consoles to catch up..
TazerGlen Tech behind raytracing is older than your mom. Nvidia is pushing raytracing too hard (for selling more cards). Takes few GPU generations before I am impressed.
Dilly Vesper well i mean its quite possible they'll do it in a year. The next gen is coming up if nvidia parties up with them for cash, which is what i would do, you probably won't have to wait long. Nvidia will be pushing this tech to all developers they can so to hold a monopoly on the industry until amd orb Intel come up with their own ray tracing gpu's. Its both good and bad, the good is that it'll force everyone to up their game, The bad is that nvidia will hold more power than they previously were.
treymtz yeah... not likely maybe in few games but yeah we will see. Normally new tech will have new features and the support will come after few generations.
In games 5 years later...
What excites me a lot more, is the implementation of open AI. That will forever change game development.
I think the most impressive is the AI optimization Nvidia talks about on their blog. Apparently AI is a big part in how they get ray tracing to work so fast (it is used to estimate which rays will be useful to render and can build the rendered image from a relatively small amount of rays).
If it works as well as they claim, then the performance of these cards may even increase significantly when driver updates come with extra training data for those networks.
They also had a demo which could upscale images without making them blurry or pixelated, also using their deep learning process. This could be great for retro gamers if it is easily accessible to make old games still look good when scaled up to a full HD resolution. (I know it isn't magic and won't turn it into a remastered version, but it will probably be a lot better than the upscaling options we have now)
AWWW SHIT... MINESWEEPER IS GONNA LOOK SWEET.
oh dude solitare will be LEGENDARY
I just love it when they make the ceiling light bigger, it is so satisfying
Can it play raytraced Crysis?
Миша Шевченко Shit that would be awesome
Миша Шевченко raytraced crysis 2 -3 oooh yes ! those games still look better than most of the shit out there today.
Real question here
@@Sukyra971 can it play crysis 4, with ray tracing and AA on?! BOOOM
No, RTX 2080Ti is too slowly for raytracing
I can't wait for the ray-tracing version of Dwarf Fortress!
I don'y even use 3D programs, but the technology that Nvidia has worked on makes me want to build a new sims game.
Flolus this is an interesting question. The limitations in Sims games are its "sims" which are very unrealistic but acceptable in their universe, with this technology, we might be able to finally create convincing people and may lead to the development of VR sims game.
Nam Le ah i see you're a man of culture as well.
+Nam Le "VR Sims" what has humanity led to
Flolus not gonna lie. Sims 4 has some great graphics
The Sims have more issues than that. Removing terrain tool and pools, then making it look like The Sims 2 was really.dissapointing. I pirated it to try. Quit after half an hour and will never buy or play again. Even if I get it for free.
But can it run crysis?
Santa A You said that joke the wrong way around
We don't care about CGI commercial, we need to know can it run crysis!
Have you noticed that none of these demos contain soft, organic surfaces? My answer is NO or if I am more optimistic - NOT YET. I have a strong suspicion that this technology might not work very well for games with nature vistas.
Since it's ray tracing, I don't think it can run legacy raster renders that Crysis uses.
raytraced Crysis that is..
I love that Sweeney has this pirate shirt :D
Arrr..... welcome to ThePiratebay!
lol :D
Neurotyczny Kot they don't care... thers no way you can pirate ther shit :D
Most beautiful scene I could imagine. What a huge step forward in technology!
Wow I thought that the future of GPUs was more cores, but now I see that it's so much more. Now that it's here, I can see how the Turing architecture brings graphics to a whole new level with ray tracing. Keep it up Nvidia!
I was an ATI user long time ago, but I´ve been a loyal Nvidia Geforce fan since more than 13 years. Keep crushing it Nvidia
Though the price is steep, this advancement in consumer technology is a good step. I might even prefer the reference card over a partner version.
If it pans out, the next racing games will look phenomenal
Unreal engine just keeps looking better and better.....killing it
"We never dreamed"... well, some of us did. There were concept ray tracing game engines 20 years ago, just not in 2K and not PBR.
Damn just imagine 20 years from now.
I just want a 3d realistic rts game with incredible depth physics and customization.
Destructible physics is still not a thing how is this not possible yet.
Top down rts with incredible effects and interactive map would be amazing.. Some older games like battle realms touched on that with immersive maps and we can always combine old school rpgs easily into rts.
Combine the games combine the genres.
Did everyone just forget that 7nm GPUs are coming soon? Ray-tracing performance is going to get a big bump soon.
I wonder if nvidia owns the ray-tracing tech or just the tech to render it, if so, imagine the moding scene for introducing ray-tracing to older game.
The lighting is great. I wonder if that will help with gaming performance or just the way it looks.
Can't wait for the day, where gaming is possible not only using ray tracing for reflections or shadows, but for everything at once.
Nice shadow and reflection effects. We will get a new gaming experience.
COME RIGHT UP FOLKS!! It's only 1000$ for some fancy reflections
Ray Tracing is insane! This technology makes is so realistic...
Nice to see Tim Sweeney talk about tech.
Nvidia creating new standards:
Rasterization globalized (ultra high graphics always, 60 up to 90+ fps, in 4k)
Rasterization (polygon detail) and raytracing (tensor) progression go in tandum (RTX-OPS)
Holy trinity of flavors (with NVLink starting mid tier)
Shift between master-race pc (high end, optional raytrace/rasterization/hybrid methods, along with traditional rasterization) and consoles (which focus will remain on rasterization and 4k)
Affordable raytracing at consumer price level. The world will never be the same.
This feature could bode well for the future of gaming I guess.
GREAT leap towards photorealism!!
Now I want a meteor shower just to see the reflections on the cars lol
With every seismic-shift moment in home computer graphical capability I think; "wow, that looks almost real". Then, a couple of years later, the next one comes along and I think; "wow, that looks almost real". One day, I may realise that I know nothing and I should keep my sucky opinions to myself but for now, holy shit that looks almost real.
I wonder if one day entire animations for whole movies can be made at the snap of the fingers.
I think the RTX turing cards will change the cinematic experience for the average and fanatic moviewatcher.
Pretty Amazing stuff. the future looks bright, on a secondary note does any1 know what dell monitor that is at the bottom?
This rtx series is going to be beast
Nice model. Now show it animated in engine with physics at 60fps
So how do you turn on raytracing in ue4? The thing though is that you will still need to make both types, baked and non-baked, otherwise the raytrace turned on will look fine but the without the usual tricks but when you turn off raytrace you can't see anything in non-lit areas and mood and attention will change drastically. This is a long discussion.... I WANT 1!!!
Very interesting and will be unique to see it in action from a game developed from the ground up using RT rech
Very cool to see him so excited by the tech.
Just imagine, a decade or so down the line when this is viable for most PC owners and Consoles. And (provided they're still going) Turn 10 and Playground games get their hands on the tech for this. Forza would pretty much be at it's graphical peak.
Think half a decade, not a decade. Also, for PC gamers it's already viable. The RTX 2070, RTX 2080, and RTX 2080ti all support raytracing. The 2070 is only $500.
+Abitamim
Faster than that actually, many of the demos were thrown together within a week or two before launch. They didn't have time to optimize very well.
+Abitamim Bharmal
It's about 40% slower.
Good stuff. And it'll only get better and more realistic from here on as newer revisions are made, improving the accuracy & realism.
So excited for Turing, hope to get one in the near future
Can't wait to see PC only games with these new cards, Sucks for AAA titles though with console specs stopping the full potential of these gpu's.
Won't be that bad, it's a toggle feature as far as I am aware. Sort of like tessellation that can be enable or disable, somewhat like physx.
Not everyone will benefit from it unless they have Turing GPU. Knowing AMD they will make their own version visa software or similar.
i think it will be like physx because 90% of the cards right now dont support rtx
This ray tracing technology looks so good
Does it use AI to denoise? And if so could the algorithm improve over time meaning even better performance?
Can you connect two RTX graphicscards like SLI for GTX cards?
Ray Tracing looks just awesome, so does this car.
I can't wait to see how this looks in a racing game.
Ray tracing is the start of nvidia’s reformed revolution.
I wonder if I there will be VR games that are able to use this Ray Tracing technology. I have a pretty nice HTC Vibe setup at home but the games on that platform are just not really grabbing my attention. Hopefully, with this advancement in graphics, we will see a new generation of virtual reality games that can raise the bar.
That is literally the coolest thing I have seen in 3d
*we live in an incredible times....wow how far they have pushed graphics tech...raytrace graphics for all...such a crazy and beautiful era for gamers and the likes, this is truly historic !*
For developers you mean...Cause gamer wont see this in games before 4 or 5 years maybe more....
even if we gamers still dont get fully raytraced games yet...they still at least paved the way for basic/minimal real time raytracing and its only going to get better and better in the coming years, still better than nothing right?
I agree :)...
Agremen+ :) im glad
Does have any effect in my favourite games which doesn't have ray tracing?
Can't wait to see by myself games with this feature
Nothing better to start a new PC building, than the most powerful graphic card in the world.
Looks fantastic, need this on project cars and Forza.
Was saving for upgrade to 1070ti, but might save a bit more for a 2070 I think.
I saw this car on the live event 8/20 so amazing
Is there a place to download this or other RTX demos?
Looking at that Porsche makes me want to play need for speed porsche unleashed in RTX enabled mode!!
next gen graphics will be mind blowing!
This is the beginning of something great
I cant wait to see gameplay with RTX
How can we have access to Ray Tracing technologies beeing a indi studio ?
soooo on a quadro..... how good is it on the rtx regular cards
Might have a reason to turn on shadows in games now
I feel like this would benefit the upcoming jump force
nVidia are showing a single car rendered on a high-end costly PC, in a complete game even more expensive hardware will be needed, and game settings will need to be reduced to get reasonable frame rates. Current techniques provide excellent reflections, shadows and dynamic global illumination without raytracing, so it is questionable whether paying out an extra $1,000 for a top-end raytracing PC will be worth it, especially when there are maybe 2 games that will support this by mid 2019.
Cheaper than a real Porsche, good stuff
It would be nice to get one, haven't upgraded my 980 TI because of the price increase due to mining :(
Wow...the realism is what we should be all talking about!
Nvidia please bring back the mythbusters guys!! Nowadays youtubers dont know how to show this great jump in computer graphics :/
Being a developer rtx is a game changer for me
Wow car games will be out of this world.
It looks real
I want to use such graphic cards
Amazingly real... Impressive to say the least....
and here I am still saving up for a 1070...
It looks really impressive, like in the real world. RTX =
I want this porche! It looks so real!
Great to see this being pushed to game engines already
About when it will be available?
I really need an upgrade from my 960 this is awesome
If graphics technology has improved "a million fold" in 20 years, how come I am yet to be as impressed with any game as I was on the day i saw "Unreal" run on a 3Dfx Voodoo2? hmmm........go figure?
We will see on Monday
I like this Ray Tracing in realtime, but.... like the guy in this video said, it's for developers making easier to develop games since producing lights/reflections effects will be almost automatic . On the players side comes only more money for a new graphics card and probably a new hardware. Graphically we wont see much impact compared to the current gen.
The car looks realy realistic!
It actually looks so good 😊 can’t wait to see more gameplay
Hoping for the win from Czech republic 🇨🇿
Abortnite that looks like real life.
I wander how cool it will be in VR games!
I need this so bad to use with my UE4 projects!!! Lightmapping takes forever...
we want realistic 3d VR games!
Cant wait to get My hands on One of these
Now i can finally play pacman with real time lightning :D
Then when are we going to get dynamic GI and realistic shadows with moveable light sources in UE?
