Had a work that sounded desperate when calling for replacements. Some people had the same thing as you did, getting "I'm drunk in Mexico" to "I popped a Viagra and about to bang my wife." I once worked 6/7 12 hour night shifts and they called me in "desperate" to fill the 12 hours before my next shift... I was so out of it, I agreed, but told them that they'd have to cover my next shift (being that tired). Boss didn't realize it was my replacement he was trying to cover.

That’s so weird because that is almost the exact same with my story, I was on a plane to Germany for a Magic the Gathering tournament but I had requested time off 4 months in advance. I got a phone call asking where I was while I was literally flying over the ocean. I just told them no though. It was a impossibility for me return. I got yelling at for “missing work”, worst part it was my own family. Uncle cussed me out even though he was the one that forgot my time off.
We plan it that way. It was my turn to be one of the guys left at work while 5 of 9 took off for a 3 day weekend. I take the OT this time and we’ll switch it up in a couple weeks.
I am going to my son's wedding in June... in another state. I have told this to my company. If they were to ask me to come in ... I would flat out laugh at them.
One time I was working a job that consistently had me pulling 6 days a week 50-60 hours. I put in for my week's vacation a month out. Only to see myself scheduled when the next two weeks schedules were published. When I went to the boss he said "I know you're here to talk about your vacation, but we're just short handed right now." I said "oh I'm just here to turn in my two weeks notice" That was my last straw on being treated like a rented piece of equipment. Not sure why I even bothered putting in notice. I was a lot younger then so I thought I mattered if I did. Now I work for myself 👍
I never understood the whole 2 weeks notice thing, like why should I care about being on good terms with people at a job that I'm actively choosing not to stay at? How does that make any logical sense?
My boss asked me this once. I said NO! but then he went straight to triple overtime, with confirmation email to payroll with his signature... I asked for the days back that I worked. He said yes.... I came to work

My brother once got told he could not take a vacation, because he had no vacation days left. Giant WTF!!! He had not taken a single day of vacation in almost 5 years, and had not used up his vacation days on any of the previous 5 years. Turned out, the secretary (only one - small company - radio install & repair) had been taking my brother's vacation days so SHE could get extra vacation. Her reasoning? Well, YOU haven't been using them. !!!?!!! Bonus - she was Not fired for this. But she had to be collecting more bumps on her head from the bosses desk, for the next couple years. She DID get fired a few years later - after embezzling almost 100k and threatening to tell the boss's EX(!!) wife about the two of them. Not a bright woman.

"how much do i get to charge you to bring my whole family back a thousand miles early and then drive them back out there?" or....."you want me to leave my family stranded in a strange country / the woods?, for how much money?"
I actually did come in on vacation once to help cover lunches. Someone's father had passed away and someone else had to go to the hospital. So they asked if I'd come in for a few hours. I was there for about four hours, got paid for the whole day. I'd also not mentioned my plans to while I was going to be off but I was on my back patio in a nice chair, really nice weather, warm, cold soda, and a good book and my 3DS, all with my feet up. They didn't know it wasn't that much of a hassle to come in but I let them pay me and give me two vacation days in exchange for one. So saved 8 hours and got a bonus 8. Plus, someone's dad died. And another in the hospital. Horrible luck for my coworkers and can't fault the company for having the backup, and the backup's backup, both have emergencies at the same time. Not a lot of good memories there, but they did right by me that day. No guilt, just asking and offering bonuses.
I’ve had that happen before where I was taking a month of vacation in Europe…. And they asked if I’d still be willing to come in a few times and cover some other days on call…. And when I responded with sarcasm that “Yeah, I’ll TOTALLY fly back from Europe to come in a couple days, and just call me whenever, I’ll be there in 24 hours” They started to thank me like I was being serious, then i just said no, absolutely not, you can call all you want and I will not be answering. They still called me while I was over there and left messages asking if I could come in the next day, then when I got home they pulled me in to say it was “unprofessional” that I didn’t answer any of their calls, or call them back. Needless to say I left that company.
This is why no matter what you actually do on your vacation time, you tell them you're flying out. Even if you don't leave your home, you tell them you're going to be in Mexico or Alaska or Puerto Rico, anywhere that is faaaaaaar away from your job. They'll never ask you again once you ask them to comp your airline tickets.
Tried that crap with me once. Three different managers gave different people off the same week without talking to each other. I had my time in 2 months early, they wanted me to cancel my plans because i could cover everyone elses jobs. They tried getting me to do it so everyone else didn't have to give up their vacations. When i asked to see when their vacation requests were submitted they got real quite. I told them have fun informing everyone else you fucked up and they need to work.
I worked a job where this same situation happened. Just less politely. When it came down to my last work day before vacation, my exboss said he denied vacation due to staffing issues. Hehe. I laughed at him and took my vacation anyways . Had another job lined up at the end of those two weeks. Hehe never even turned in my resignation. Best work moment ever for me.
2:00 That's exactly right, Ricky. None of us are getting paid anywhere close to what we're worth. They get thousands for one hour and only throw you 20. Maybe 30 with overtime.
I used to set up a vacation countdown timer in my bay of the shop. It was mighty entertaining giving the uppers the silent treatment while pointing to the timer when they would pull this crap.
That reminds me of a friend's wife, who was asked by her supervisor to work late, on her last day before retirement. Her response was "No, that's not going to work for me."

Exactly Ricky! I actually got a raise after I took a vacation. On site boss had to call me 4 times when the owner showed up. When I got back, I had a new shiny truck and job title.
Once I had a fire truck come blowing past me with it's lights on, and turn up the road towards the plant I worked at. I've never been more disappointed than I was when I got to work and it wasn't on fire. Seriously, that's when I knew it was time for a change of scenery.

Jokes aside, this was how an employee at my old company died. He was a maintenance worker for the factory, and was on vacation fishing in some local ponds and lakes. We had a power outage, and something in a VFD needed to be replaced. They called him to do it, saying they'll pay him double time for the work, and refund him a full 8 hours of vacation time. He was angry, got in the truck and drove up there. Still in his wet shoes, shorts and shirt he put his screw driver somewhere it shouldn't have been.
he already getting paid single time to NOT go in...he is on PAID vacation hows double time anything but the bare basics? did they pay double time for the drive?...AND....8hrs vacation isnt enough time to cover the ruining of his day and possibly the next 3 days of his wife complaining!!!.... 1 day in the middle of the week at triple time minimum AND 2 vacation days tacked onto the end of his current vacation would be a starting point....I'd demand much more.... call in an industrial electrician cheapskates
I worked at wonderbread for 7 years , when they demolished the building for condos - multiple people I hadn’t heard from for years because I moved out of state - sent me pictures they were that happy.

I hadn't gotten to the end of the video before I was starting to type something, and I'm so glad Randy said it himself! Yes, if me being gone is going to cripple the company, we have to talk about my compensation because it is not nearly enough.
Ricky talks to his employer the way I actually do in real life. I work extra hard to get away with it. My strategy for every job I've had is to be so good they just have to deal with it. It's backfired a time or two but for the most part its worked for me.
Yeah, I was thinking no, but when you mentioned the hard times my coworkers would have, I changed my mind, to a hell no. And when you mentioned how the company could fail, I changed my mind again, to a hard hell no.
Happy to work in a factory when all take vacations at the same time with a few flexible days. All overtime is voluntary and all the bosses up the system are reasonable and have their heads on straight. As happy with work as I can be! (Easter off, 3 weeks of summer off, christmas time off, so yeah.)
Just had a supervisor ask me to cancel a vacation day I had scheduled. Said he was going to be short staffed. Meanwhile admin is telling the free world we have no staffing issues and can run the place with less staff. There was no "sorry" saying no from me.
Ricky's got really good fire insurance for the company. He can't wait to watch it "go up in flames". All he can think of is that insurance check on its way. Also, why do you think he "accidentally" sets all the equipment on fire? Insurance my man. Smartest owner ever
We used to have a foreman that did this and canceled employees' vacations so he could go on vacation. He's no longer a foreman and only a pee'on nowadays, and everyone continually reminds him. 🤣
On my days off, If I was called in, I would always be somewhere conveniently the distance away it would be that I wouldn’t be there in any time to do anything. Happier where I am now, weekends are sacred and I haven’t been called in almost 2 years.
Had a boss call me in while I was on vacation. I live in Ohio, he called when I was driving through the salt flats. Good luck, boss man. I'll see ya in 12 days lol
Damn straight. If this place can't handle me taking a week off. Then I definitely need a raise. And if it goes up in flames I'll get the marshmallows and weenies. Only reason to shed a tear, is if smoke gets in my eyes. Don't forget a vacation request is really a notice of absence. Cause I'm taking the days off.
I once put in for vacation time to ride my Harley up to Sturgis. I put in for the time almost 2 months ahead of time. They asked me to postpone my vacation. I told them, umm, the rally will be over, thus defeating my vacation in its entirety. They dragged their feet until 3 days before my departure date. The boss finally tells me, hey good news you are going to Sturgis!. My response? I WAS ALWAYS going to Sturgis. However, It is nice to know i still have a job when i get back. Life is too short to play games.
Not vacation but almost as ballsy. I took a part time job at a neighboring counties fire dept, I filled out the paperwork, did all their tests and passed with flying colors, I told them I could not work any C shift and if they wanted me for A shift, I would be late bc our shift change was a 8 and theirs was at 7. The very first time they called me to work a shift, the VERY captain I told I couldn't work C shift, asked me to work a C shift. When I told her I couldn't and that was part of me coming to work there, she asked me to take a vacation day from my primary job to cover their shift. When I told her I wouldn't do that bc I would be fired from my primary job, she got prissy with me over the phone. I asked her what she would do if one of her medics took a day off, on short notice, to work at another job. She told me they would fire that medic bc they obviously didn't want to work their primary job. I then asked why she was wanting me to do the same to my primary job? Crickets. I found out later that bc I wouldn't screw over my primary job, that she took me off the part time list and told everyone else, I refused to work when called. Found out later that their dept was far and away more messed up than my primary one was, and that says a lot in and of itself.
This reminds me of when they called me about how to do a procedure at work to fix something, and I was the only person in the shop that knew how to do it. But I wasn't on vacation. I was in the hospital with a heart attack. I told them. The production manager had always treated me exceedingly well, and this made him feel like shit. Management was cool until the company got bought out by the Green Tractor Company. They just hate their employees even more than they hate their customers. I left them a couple of years ago. Hear they've been going downhill, don't care how much money they made their investors.
My wife was in the maternity ward with our first kid. My boss asked me to come in at 3am to fix an electrical problem that none of the other techs could figure out.
asking the owner to come in on vacation..... thier goes the crews bonus! lmao!!!
No the owner is trolling the boss on his employees pay
There there now, simmer down. Their bonuses are safe. They’re going to be fine.

Kinda his fault for not changing clothes. Gotta be aware.
he already getting paid single time to NOT go in...he is on PAID vacation
hows double time anything but the bare basics?
did they pay double time for the drive?...AND....8hrs vacation isnt enough time to cover the ruining of his day and possibly the next 3 days of his wife complaining!!!....
1 day in the middle of the week at triple time minimum AND 2 vacation days tacked onto the end of his current vacation would be a starting point....I'd demand much more....
call in an industrial electrician cheapskates
Damn that sux
This is either a lie, or stupid…. If he really did die, I’m sorry, but you should never be a wet electrician
@@pandaman1869 Well to be fair. The company never called him in again after that.
I worked at wonderbread for 7 years , when they demolished the building for condos - multiple people I hadn’t heard from for years because I moved out of state - sent me pictures they were that happy.
0:42 the minute he said "Oh good otherwise I was going to have to work" i'd have laughed in his face and not taken him seriously after that. Surprised Ricky didnt pick up on that
A lot of people in the comments didn't get it either.
So many people miss the real reason behind this.
"I'm looking forward to that!" 🤣
I love it! Ricky is totally looking forward to their misery while he is on vacation! Lol 😆
I think it was awful nice of Ricky to actually consider it. 😂
ya for all of 2 fking seconds lol.
@@Puterrrr I think you forgot a decimal place and one orctwo zeros in front of that 2.
@@mikesharkey2010 I think you are right lol .2 for sure or even less lol
Ricky must have a solid insurance policy out on the place lol
"I'm not getting paid enough" Amen!
Must be small businesses. Megacorps don't care
@@madtabby66 Subway cared when they had to hire 3 people to replace me. Well, the franchise owner cared that his labor costs were 300% what they were.
The truth has been spoken, I had the same thing happen to me while I was 4 hours away from my job on my vacation.
Why answer the phone?
Yeah, I was thinking no, but when you mentioned the hard times my coworkers would have, I changed my mind, to a hell no. And when you mentioned how the company could fail, I changed my mind again, to a hard hell no.
A hard no with a hint of “if I’m THAT crucial to the company then let’s talk pay….”
“Amazing Grace, how sweet the blaze!” Lmao!!!!
Hell yes 👍🏿 the company do that s*** every damn time!!!! Right in the f**k**g middle of your vacation 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
Hey boss man
You got to check out
Thomas Benjamin Wild Esquire
“no more f’s to give”
Definitely an English take on Ricky’s life motto !!🤣
I love how he articulates his utter disdain for the company without saying it.
Yall are dropping gold today 😂 like alway brother old Ricky & THE BOSS 😅😅😅😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
0:42, I've heard that before....You come in so I can have my day off still, my god I felt that
Surprised Ricky can afford to take a vacation 🤔
One would assume with Ricky gone, more work would be accomplished and less equipment set on fire 😁
Only rental equipment
Now I wanna see Ricky singing Amazing Grace with a sparkler
It's so funny 😁 😂 😀 🤣.
Keep it up, bro. Legendary
I love Ricky . He is soo funny 😁
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
that sent me on my vacation,
To job twas bound, so it burnt to the ground,
Tip a glass to me in celebration!
Ricky is a savage negotiator. 🤣
Ya know, I agree with Ricky here. There are times where I feel the same way about the company that I work for, like most of the time.
I loved sending pictures on vacation to my coworkers! One of the best parts about vacation.
You guys are my Wing man 💪 love you guys 👍
Love the reevaluating his pay immediately
Awesome
Amen Ricky I feel the same way right now!
Lmao Ricky sounds like my husband to a tee 😂😂😂😂
Ricky is everything I wish I could be 👍😂
Had a boss call me in while I was on vacation. I live in Ohio, he called when I was driving through the salt flats.
Good luck, boss man. I'll see ya in 12 days lol
Straight up one of your best
Ricky's responses are mine in a nutshell. Enjoy that vacation and that bad-day-at-work margarita.
Ricky nailed it
I love this dude! 😂😂
Pay him more money dammit. Hell, the comedy he provides is priceless....yes I know it's you. Give yourself a raise too.
This literally happened to me yesterday at work 😂 😂
I hoped you laughed in their face.
Well said Ricky. You didn't disappoint
With a goddamn sparkler.....singing Amazing Grace.
Boss Man, Ricky really needs that raise. And "NO". not coming in.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A sparkler singing Amazing Grace. HA!!🤣🤣🤣
I love Ricky he says what we're all thinking
Dgaf... I'd start it... Amazing grace
Ricky is right about that raise.
Ricky is a savage character😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmao, so true. I love it
Best one to date IMHO.
Man love these videos hope u don't run out of material to funny big fan
Great video again ❤🎉❤🎉
So not only does Ricky own the company, but single handedly keeps it running, all for $17/hr.
Lol, They're now sounding like they're negotiating with Rocky because they KNOW he's the boss.
Lol so many companies I have worked for in the past , I have felt like that lol. I am happy with what I do now .
I had a boss that called me to come in during my vacation asked if I could come in I said no and hung up the phone and enjoyed the rest of my vacation
This guy is a genius!
Ricky must be going on a little quality time with Tyrone. Let's everyone tell him that we want to see him so we know what his lover looks like
Yup. Was thinking the same thing Ricky. You need a raise
Of course, he'd love to watch it 🔥, hes the owner . Think of that insurance payout and he had an alibi.
Hey breadstick use this one. . . ". Bossman ,a lack of planning on your behalf does not constitute a emergency on mine lmfao
I love Ricky….and Margaritas 🍹
GOGO RICKY...ya'LL Get It
The entire IF the place is in trouble without "me"
we need to talk about a raise right now .....
Hits home with me and EVERY place I ever worked ....
My wife was in the maternity ward with our first kid. My boss asked me to come in at 3am to fix an electrical problem that none of the other techs could figure out.
