I remember singing this song along with my work colleagues when we all went to the pub when we were made redundant in 1981. Sums up that time perfectly.
What a great fucking song man!! The drummer has a great fucking voice doesn't he?? Not much has changed since Unemployment Benefit Form 40.....Aka UB40 recorded this back in the heyday '80's!!! 👍
What HAS changed is the fact that nowadays, there are TWO bands named UB40. - The original band. UB40 - Ali Campbell's solo band. UB40 featuring Ali Campbell. Campbell pulled this move when finding out that the big bucks are in the UB40 name, because as a solo act he barely got any reverence. Needless to say, the two bands do NOT get along terribly well.
The Congo is the name of two countries and a river in Africa. A drum from that area would be called Congolese. The gentleman that you are referring to is playing a pair of congas which are of Cuban origin.
Ja de eerste drie albums waren fantastish maar toen verloren ze dat rauwe geluid. Synthesizers vervingen dat skank gitaar geluid van Ali en Jim ging op die foute Simmons drums spelen.
I will always remember the band who did 'One in ten' and not 'Red red wine'...great...😎

Still a classic, still relevant (unfortunately) in the UK in 2015
And now in 2023
Sadly the words are more relevant today than ever! Pistols god save the queen as well, have a listen.
One of my favorite UB40 songs. The drum fills took forever to figure out.
2021 August 22nd: RIP Brian Travers. I remember this concert very well. And now he's dead.
I love this song 💗
Saw them in Digbeth Civic Hall 81 or 82. This was a critique of the times then, unfortunately in 2020 still valid, in many more countries
Watching Summer of 2019
Ali Campbell sounds the same live in the rain as he does on the albums.
Pure groove! Cult Song of a Cult Band✨✨✨
Killer, uk foundation reggae, big up ub40 music with comcrete message on a tuff riddim!
I brought this first time around... Still sing it karaoke!! Tip top😅 lol 😆
Loved that song and video.. Oh hahaha those lads back then were so energetic and fresh faced.

That hand scared the f*#k out of me 😎🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
A band I thought would stay together to keep spreading the message and the reggae music. UB40 Signed Off. Dread times.
Sad times with Ali now long gone.

Nothings changed in 2021
Tinha um aninho apenas
T w o left-handed guitarists!
Astro-permanently stoned, yet clocked 64 odd years. Ironically the song mentioned chronic heart disease which laid him under the daisies.
cool as fuck
that congo player --in the background'

is norman hassan
Was this live or playback? Seems too perfect to be live, anyone know?
Looks live to me. At the guitar solo at the end, at first the sax is playing over him, then he stops.
Totally live
Thatcher Thatcher Milk Snatcher won
Most boring crowd ever
Check out the video of Madness playing at the same gig, crowd are well up for it, maybe because it wasn't raining then!
Because UB40 were considered boring. Now it sounds good but they were so hyped that no-one liked them.
lol maybe cuz it was raining?
i was there ,everyone was relaxed and high on cannabis .
@@FFM0594 NOT TRUE. What are you talking about?
