What helped me was putting the Dino count to, “.75” instead of “1” so the game doesn’t freak out. I also saved constantly, usually every 15 minutes, I’ll also change a setting so I can save while in the settings menu. Hope this helps

It's going to happen to you eventually. I tried every single possible workaround including yours and this video's. It ended up happening anyways. Lost all progress.

This happened to me multiple times in three days, back-to-back. No matter how many times I tried to save my game (I even used console commands to save), every time I left and reentered the game, it always rolled it back to the same previous point several hours prior every single time, costing me hours or days worth of grinding, tames, gear, building, and progress. This in infuriating and inexcusable. Didn’t the devs admit at one point that they used single-player to search for bugs like these? You think they would have found it and fix it by now. How many people do we need to shout loud enough to get the developers to notice and do something about it?
I'm having the same issues, so I'm quitting playing it. No point in playing if I can't do anything anymore.
Mine didn't roll back hours it completely deleted every on e of my saved worlds including the saved player so I am at square 1 with the game completely
@@user-my9is5ep3z I had a similar incident, but I unplugged my console and back in, and I somehow managed to get my stuff back.
This bug just started for me, after the update that was supposed to fix it. I haven't been able to save anything for about a week now. It's completely unplayable. You would think that wildccard would have addressed it sooner because most of their players are solo players
@@joshuamckenzie831 I’ve noticed that if you put your items and dinos you want to save in the obelisks at a certian point and then leave to the menu without doing the Destroywilddinos command (the save function is tied to the number of animals spawned on the map for some reason, causing the bug), it is a possible chance that you could end up unintentionally duping your items and dinos repeatedly, a potential exploit. I once hatched close to 10 or 15 ceratosaurs, which I then put into the obelisks to save for the boss fights, then after a game crash, the game rolled back to a point before I hatched them, but the ones I hatched were still in the obelisks with around ten additional eggs in the fridge, causing me to have twice the amount of ceratosaurs. I guess it's a nice little reward for all the frustration of this bug.
Unfortunately this didn’t work. This time structure and Dinos I tamed to test remained however all storage containers and inventory is now empty. This is actually worse than before as now I’ve lost all the thousands of materials and resources gathered before this bug appeared.
All items looted from red blue green yellow drops gone, all crafted narcs, darts gone, everything.
Just a real sh!t show of a release by WC and Snail.
Thanks for trying to find us a fix though. Not your fault the devs sh!t the bed on this one and then ghosted players.
Do you have the AA control module down ? If soo all items get sucked into it and should still be there
Ya I tamed 3 Dino’s and they stayed but I can’t use them or do what ever and lost a bunch of good weapons and blue prints

Dude hours of taming/cave/ gear grind gone finally hit me tonight I’m done I’m sick so close to running broodmother also seen a lot of comments about the over 500mb mine just reached over it started crashing and not saving did change Dino setting to 0.5 seems to have fixed for now but feel this is just temporary till more data builds
Yeah I've been rolled back twice and had my whole inventory just wiped. I refuse to play this game till they fix this bug because I'm not spending several hours grinding to lose everything to something I have 0 control over.
Happened to me twice now. Both with and without your work-around. I have also been consistently saving about every 30 minutes. It worked fine for about a day. I would save, quit the game, relaunch, and it would be where I left off. Guess I should have kept doing that because it lost roughly 4 in game hours worth from where I left off compared to where it saved. Since it was seemingly working fine, I kept the game running between the saves. I just give up trying to play until this is fixed. Way too frustrating not knowing what will save.

the screen thing has nothing to do with game or console u have to fix tht in ur monitor or TV settings. this is ridiculous we shouldn't have to do any set to make the game run or work properly we paid our money for a working running game wildcard are just a joke of a developer and thts all there is to say abt it im afraid
Interesting, did you have the screen area issue yourself and have to fix it? Would you mind sharing what you did to fix it?
To me, it doesn't seem to be a memory leak. And time doesn't matter either. While still testing, it seems to be a problem with the main save file and switching to another. SO, if you start the game, play 5 minutes, but log off to the menu screen, then go back into the game, without fully exiting the game. Sometimes, it starts using a different save file. So, you play a few hours and log off, then come back later and your 5 hour play session doesn't seem to be saved. But it could been an hour or 10 minutes, had nothing to do with it being 5 hours, was just using that as example.
My only work around that seems to be working is NOT just exiting to menu screen, but fully out before starting a session.
welp, it won't save at all now.... can't get it to save on xbox or windows.
On xboxi had a save crash to home then we restarted and now randomly loose random chunks of time. I'm willing to try both, lost 4 hours yesterday
@@negativehp7653 deleting dinos works sometimes. Something is going on with how the game picks the save to use. Or decides not to use one. Right now, I'm good to go... for now.
I think the problem is the save file from the previous version is incompatible with the current build.

Happened to me as well today on my single player world. Logged in and noticed my armor was missing. Both equipped and in my inventory. As well as a few wall pieces missing from my base. After looking it up online I found a post telling me to try checking 50 50. Flew there and found a wooden wall as well as a few wall torches and an ass load of random dinos and eggs just floating in the sky beating the crap out of each other. My plan is to just delete my single player save once they fix this and start over just in case my save now has become corrupted. I don't have much progress anyway and I would rather not keep playing only to find out the file got corrupted a while ago and now it's unplayable when I start trying to fight the bosses and stuff. I'm just gonna wait until they release a patch for it to play again.

Thank you. This actually worked for me. I got stuck in the winter area trying to tame a modded dodorex but every time I brought it back home and turned off my game it didn’t work and I’d turn it back in right away to make sure and I was always back in the snow lands. I even tried save word alone and it didn’t work but doing it after the kill all Dino’s cheat it worked. I may finally rest now it is 7 am did this over and over for 3 hours angrily. I was bout to actually give up too so Ty again 💀
ATTENTION!!! This worked for the first few times, but now it simply does not. Not even the SaveWorld* command after the Dino wipe does not work now. Also, the respawn rate on Dino’s is so slow you have to spend upwards of 25-45 minutes in each section of the map to get regular spawn rates with somewhat decent level Dino’s and even then you’ll get reset on the next time you close the game. (My game auto crashes ever time I exit to main menu). I try at least once a day to get it to work but on day 7 now with 2 uninstall and re installs the game still won’t save and still crashes everytime I try to return to menu. Don’t waste your time, wait for them to patch it :/
Do you think this has to do with turning on/off Is hibernation mode??

Is anyone in xbox also getting major screen tearing? Its like bad vsync implementation rather than fps drops.
The truth is I was already tired of not being able to save correctly and thus I lost a game of more than 16 hours, it really worked for me, thank you sir ❤
You can also just change the spawn to 0.5 kill wild dinos once and every save afterwards will work 🤞
What do you mean by this, is this in settings or is it a command?

Not sure if this works for everyone but what I did was load it up as a non dedicated and then also used the savegame command before leaving and it works
8 months later, and i can report this bug still exists
I’ve noticed the bug happens anytime I go and try to change the settings and then when I reload up, I’ll be one or two saves behind with a bunch of progress loss . Bug still happening to this day.
Happened to me. I played a good 4 hours, saved went to go play the next day and the game was no where to be found. Only option it gave me was to create a new game. So I did and just to see if it would delete my game again I only played for about 30 minutes, saved it, logged out, back in and it was gone again. So frustrating. Wildcard needs to fix this ASAP
I don't understand how this isn't fixed yet. This has been a problem since the xbox release and the devs aren't doing anything about it. It needs to be fixed asap. The game is unplayable because of this.
For me (ps5) my entire world just disappeared and this was after saving and re opening about 6 hours total over 2 days and I go in today and … there’s nothing there :3 also the menu navigation is so frustratingly awkward why when looking for a save the only other options are back and Delete all saves 😲like why

Still not fixed, the update took the save button away. Logged in and it was saving for a bit, until i tamed an argy and it was gone, almost died when I logged in. Thought I was at base but I was out in map in front of a alphanraptor from hours earlier.

My graphics aren't horrible but it's not super clear. It's kinda grainy looking and when flying on a flier I see the wings leaving a trail behind, I'd like to fix it if I can but it's not unplayable. I'm on Xbox series s, don't think series x has the same issues
Yea X does. I play on PS5 and it’s the same as well. It’s ugly but I haven’t found a way to adjust it. This game should look better than this.
I heard they didn't intend to release it for series s but was forced to by Microsoft. My brother plays on ps5 and he said when trees fall in his they fall like they were intended to with a slight bounce showing realism but on my console they just hit the ground and stop, again it's not unplayable but it's the small things I wish got incorporated into all the consoles (another example would be the water waves from players and creatures I know the series s doesn't show them but it's something I liked when the game was released on pc)
This is crazy, everyone having these issues TWO MONTHS AGO.. I recently bought and have been playing on single-player and IT IS STILL HAPPENING. I get ARK can have its moments but this is a joke Wildcard!!!

Love losing 2 days of progress just cause wildcard is some of the worst developers ever , Ubisoft got some competition for the worst

Destoywilddinos does seem to work but it seems to bug platforms and crop plots. Everything was there but i thought my plat on my quetz was gone ut appeared a couple minutes later. The crops are there if you look in your plots but they still havent showed up
The crops are a separate bug, FWIW. If you log out while in render distance, they're not visible/rendered when you log back in. If you log out OUTSIDE their render distance, then fly over, they'll show up. It's weird.

RIP to all the dinos getting deleted
This happened to me yesterday.. I logged in and spawned in the north side of the island, luckily my argi was still alive. I sfew back to my base and realized I lost about 2hrs. I played for like 4hrs last night building my base up and manual saved like 10 times. I hope it saved. I was considering dying near my base to see if it would auto save there.
Dude you're on single player I assume? Just switch to creative mode. If this comes to official pvp, then people will maybe care.
So in short 1. Boost all the settings before going into the server. 2. Switch to creative mode and you can do what you want. Thst is whole point of single player.
Otherwise, welcome to official pvp. Or train a bit on official pve to get good and then cone over to official pvp. 👍

PSA in Ark survival evolved it would autosave everytime you killed a baby dino
This makes breeding in singleplayer a ^$%@ing nightmare pre egg hatchery because it would autosave for every dead baby dino
In short check if it autosaves when you kill a baby in your singleplayer and just do that because it will without fail if that line of code got copypasted
You cannot say that singleplayer is only for creative mode because when playing games there is a flow
Ark breaking that flow by forcing you to essentially cheat is what turns people off and they just stop playing or don't buy the game
Also not everyone wants to play on a server that will be wiped or pay rent to play on a game they already purchased
Some people may want to keep their base, tames, mutation colors, loot, and more
There is a similar issue on ASE on playstation rn and it's never gonna get patched where upon pressing exit to main menu the game will crash without fail and roll back to your last auto save in singleplayer and do nothing when disconnecting from a server acting as if you had crashed normally
I assume this save bug is copy pasted code from this time period and it clearly needs fixing but this is wildcard we're talking about they won't patch it for a long time because they don't even know whats causing it
My bet is it has something to do with Code added a little before the Ryghnio update during one of the last Fjordur patches as that was when the exit to main menu crash first started for me.

The only thing about using this method is after dinowipe you have to go to each beaver spawn location multiple times before they spawn in then it takes forever for them to spawn, build dams and create cementing paste.
Is there a proper fix yet i cant keep restarting my world everytime i go offline its so bad. how have they released the game with this bug
Not good. I had bad luck. I now cannot get the single player "save" to load in. As soon as I try to boot in, from the main screen of ARK to actual play, it just boots me straight back to Xbox main screen. 100% unplayable now. Hopefully there's a fix soon.

My canteen keeps disappearing if it’s in my last hot bar slot , also had the single player save thing , I just change something in settings and save and so far that has worked for me!
I lost 6 days of progress, 115 giga, 145 rex etc. holy shit never felt so broken playing a game
I will give this a try! Thank you. It worked the test through so ill try it and test it out. Ive lost 6hrs of my life and great progress only to have to redo it and i dont have the motivation for it atm.
30mins after and this is working so far. I'll do an hours progress and report back as well. ❤

Still can’t save Aug 2024
They need to do something. I lost 12 hours of play time. Came back on this morning and everything was lost
I had and still have this bug on the island map. The only time i managed to get it to save was after i kicked a mate out of the tribe from when i played non dedicated with him. The next save worked ok but no more since then.
Tried force saving by killing a tame, taming a new creature, killing myself, fast travelling, console commands, use creative mode etc..... None of it worked.
Im now playing on svartelheim and its fine..... So far.
Tried this several times and it doesn’t work. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. It saved the first time I hit save. After hours thinking it was fixed i found out it wasn’t. Seems wild card isn’t listening. I’ve turned in a ticket immediately and haven’t heard a word.
I know how to solve this problem, for me (ps5) I just need to go to the main menu to save, if I want to reload the previous saving instead i have to directly close the game without going in the main menu then rejoin. It’s easy I hope this works for everybody.
I was really hoping ark ascended would be different from survival evolved, but I’m still having the same old lost save issues.

Doesnt work. And why should we have to do this anyway? Admincheat saveworld doesnt seem to work either, and what about the crashes and roll backs to before a previous save that actually worked?
What do you do if explorer notes and mini maps don’t save? Every time I log back on I have all my progress but the map is blank and then the explorer notes reset

I tried this work around and thought it was working. But, I guess not. I did a lot of grinding and taming only to get back to playing and have all that work gone. You’d think they would have that bug fixed by now or at least give us the option to save our progress and recover from a previous save point. Ever since I used the console commands, the save option has been removed.

Okay, it's saving. But it's still deleting a bunch of my inventory. Weapons, gear, resources, and ammo.

Every time I log back into my game, I'm not able to ride my argy or enter their inventory. I have to tame a new argy in order to ride one. Just for it to happen again when I get back on. All other dinos work just fine.
This is a serious issue and they need to fix it asap because it makes the game unplayable. This has happened to me several times since the launch. Its pissing me off cause I can't get anything accomplished.
i did destroywilddinos and now the game starts normally but when i click to start my save, the game crashes every time ….

For me. It wasn’t that it didn’t save. It actually loaded a game from like 12 saves ago. It loaded a random older save.
I know I had saved it after the one it loaded logged out back in played it and save it again since the save point it loaded. It was just a random older save
Same lost so much time. That is how it started now it is a roll of the dice if it will save if I spam save game b4 exiting. It's not playable at the moment in my opinion.

Had that happen to me when I loaded into single player for the 1st time. Crested my character and watched the intro cutscene for the island. Then picked my spawn point and when I clicked spawn survivor the screen went white then the game crashed. However after restarting the game and loading back into single player I was able to spawn in just fine. I don't really have a fix for it other than to just keep trying until it finally let's you spawn in like it did for me. Or you could try reinstalling the game. This game is a complete shit show right now with horrible performance and bugs. Best to just wait for a patch before playing.
Found a fix..
Remove all the dino mods, dino count seems to be causing save bug. Then, use console commands, admincheat destroywilddinos
Then
admincheat saveworld
Im on Ps5, i hit R2 after entering destroyworlddinos, and nothing happens. Untamed dinos do not disappear
Honestly I lost 7 hours of progress on my first day, just killed the steam I had for this game atm
This didn’t work for me. I tried moving a couple things around just to see what would save and then did destroywilddinos. Nothing saved and the things that I moved disappeared. I also lost a bookshelf with a lot of blueprints for some reason.
It saved my location, like I came back to the same spot after the save, but the items I moved in my chests didn’t save, and one of them is completely empty now.
This bug makes this game unplayable. I can’t do anything. I’ve lost several hours of gameplay. I don’t even want to play anymore until this is fixed. Even then, I might start over again… I don’t want to start a new world but I fear the world I’m in now might be corrupted.
On PS5. This trick didnt work for me. Neither did change the spawn count. I just googled if anyone had save issues, I wish i knew sooner. I spent 5 hours in my first session. Saved and left come back no save files at all. Took me to create a character. Im highly disappointed. Started a new game waited 30 mins, saved came back in no save file. Went to go back to session. Took me to the create a character screen. Tried this multiple times. Continues to take me to create a character. The game is unplayable just on this aspect. Probably wont be fixed anytime soon. I had plans to binge this game on vacation the next few weeks. Now theres no point.
Also. On xbox. I have many instances where I return from a save and am missing items. Like torches, flags, roofs,and the latest time I came back without clothes. No dinos lost. Just stuff.
3 weeks later and my world keeps crashing and my whole raft base disappears i was hunting a lvl 145 pteranadon and it crashed
Happened to me on play station 5, entire save was gone. Decided id just spawn everything back i lost, did that, saved game and it deleted itself again

I had an power outage and when i went back in to play on my server nothing is there. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game still nothing. Xbox series .
dude, i lost a fabricator, supply drop charcha saddle, grill, power generator, 2 imprinted allos, a greenhouse, most of my base, 4 cabinets of stuff, a bunch of tame levels, even some ascended loot.
I have a big issue every time I try to access my engrams my game crashes and it doesn't save my progress

Caught 2 gigas, tamed a rhynio, collected all artificts, bred 7rexs and finally got a mutation on one! Maxed out my main Rex, exited the game at the red ob so I was ready next time I came on to do dragon, came back on and all gone! About 2 days worth of playing gone! I’m not playing anymore! Never had this problem on ASE! Ridiculous!
I still have this issue. Lost my first beaver tame that took literally 2 hrs and so much work done during that time.
My Problem is that my tamed dinos lost Their Levels but just the buffs not the Whole Levels like their Stamina or else
Spent 5 hours taming a giga, waiting for his health to come back up, and walking all the way across the map just for my game not to save and put me back at my base before I farmed everything to tame him

How does this happen these days, seriously!? For a game that is all about sinking huge amounts of time and we get bugs that almost feel deliberately made to drive into a chalk eating rage! Really really bad!!!
