I’m not sure if this applies to you, but when my father was diagnosed with stage 4 of an aggressive form of lymphoma we were told that the good new was that the aggressive forms of cancer were more responsive to chemo. Chemo was a rough journey for my dad, but he’s now been cancer free for nearly 20 years and is coming up on his 83rd birthday.

Use cannibus so you can eat and not lose weight. My sister had stage 4 cervical cancer. Medical Marijuana works. She was able to eat,and it was great for neusia too. She went through chemo,and radiation. She is 2yrs cancer free.

Denise, your rant is exactly the most memorable part of my cancer experience. It's excruciating waiting. Every second is agonizingly lonely while everyone else just works like life isn't on fire. I've felt that exact way more than once in my life. The other time was worse because it involved my kids. Your grace shows your character. You are showing us how to do this.

I'm so sorry. Sending a virtual hug and barrels of hope. I'm in the States and the lack of control is a frustrating as in Canada. Diagnosis to treatment plan took months. As you already know, you're on a rollercoaster ride and not at the controls. Take deep breaths and hold tight.

Hi Denise, I was in your shoes last summer (2021). We live in Quebec. Similar health system. I am 100% in agreement with @RickCampbell comment: Squeaky wheel gets the grease... preservere on calling - we were able to show up in person - until you get specific dates for your tests. Stay on top...politely push the hell out of them as far as you can. That's what we did and thankfully it worked! My experience : Breast cancer relapse after 21 years.😬😥 Initial mammogram on May 21, Ultrasound on June 21, Biopsy on June 22, Diagnosis confirmed on July 13, we met with plastic surgeon on August 2 and with oncologist on August 9. Double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (Diep) was on September 9, 2021. I can relate to your not wanting to worry your family but they are stronger than you think and they love you dearly. Please allow them the privilege to give back to you all the tender care that you've shown them over the years. Both my daughters and my son were such a comfort for me throughout this process and in my recovery. We have 3 yr old twin grandsons that were a ray of sunshine for me in these dark times. Waiting and uncertainty is so hard. 😔 I sympathize and wish you you a speedy process in your treatment. Keep your chin up. A positive attitude is half the battle. You are a warrior! We lost Kory's mom to uterine cancer the day we found out we were pregnant with Courtney ( we did get to tell her and she squeezed our hands, she knew) and my mom had breast cancer too and has been free for about 24 yrs so we are scared but we are positive. I was diagnosed March 8th, 2022. I start treatment June 27th. I was scared & now scared of treatment. I am going through this alone. I don't have family help or support. I am glad you have support and help.
It's a scary time, we know and understand. We also know that it will be ok. It is hard to keep everything sorted out, appointments, medications to take before chemo, medications to take after chemo, how to handle side effects. Make sure you are writing it all down and we hope you might have some friends around for help or some cancer agencies have buddy programs, ask about these. You CAN do this. These delays in healthcare are so baffling to me. I know we have more population than in previous decades, but we also have more healthcare workers and medical centers than we had in previous decades. It is infuriating!! This video was so powerful. Denise , as a retired oncology nurse I understand your fears and frustrations. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in feb. of 2020 and because of Covid I could not have my surgery and after 5 months I reluctantly went to an inferior hospital and had a lousy surgeon who was very cavalier. My cancer was not aggressive and I opted to refuse radiation or further surgery. Thankfully you have wonderful support, I am a widow with little to no support but I am still here taking life a day at a time. I will promise to keep you and your family in my prayers. 🙏🙏🙏💕

Not a club none of us wanted to join. I used to go out in the yard and just scream, it helped me. My family was also a mess. For me this was 25 years ago. One foot in front of the other and remember to breath when you feel you can't. Feel all the hugs being sent to you and your family. Prayers

Use your anger and frustration to have a lazer sharp focus to ASAP aggressively operate to remove the cancer. Then you can treat the tissue for the best long range solution. You may not control the process but you can bulldog the components. Don’t give up. We are all praying for you.

Big hug to and your family. Praying for full recovery, no matter what the news was. I understand the waiting for test so you can do the next step which is see oncologist and make a plan is so hard. You rant away because I understand. Once you are getting treatment, having surgery, you would at least feel like you were doing something. Waiting sucks, not knowing sucks. But be positive and trust that no matter what you can beat this. I am praying for your peace and comfort.

Denise, dear, I’m sorry your diagnosis is scary and I am sending your a tight virtual hug hoping to comfort you a bit. I had an aggressive and rare type of cancer. A type of cancer that never, or rarely, affects women, specially women under 75 years of age and I was 55 when I got my diagnosis three years ago. I had what is seen mostly as a male type of urinary system cancer that seems to be growing in women. It was spreading too and they started with chemo before they could decide which way the treatment would go... chemo is a good start for most cancers and I hope you will take that. I know how frustrating the seemingly slow public system can be... I’m in Norway and we have a full public health system here with the same egalitarian logic and I also support it fully. It works well for most people. My suggestion, trust, trust life, trust the process, try not to get too anxious because stress is terrible for the treatments and can cause extra side effects. I know it is easier said than done, but just try...it is scary dear, I’ve been there, I am still picking up the pieces of my life after my treatments but I’m here and so far I’m cancer free. Try to keep positive.

I’m so sorry this has happened. Please feel free to rant and cry any time you need to. I really hate cancer. So many friends have had it including my mother. As far as your wait, you wouldn’t be seen any faster here in Houston, Texas which has the largest medical center in the US.

I went through breast cancer treatments back in 2013. It was tough, but I got through. You are a strong woman, and you will get through. I, for one, do not mind the rants. You need that sometimes. I am sending love and wish I could give you a big hug. You're aloud to be upset. Give yourself some grace. I'm sure the fact that you're sharing your journey is helping others going through a similar situation. Take care of yourself. I will be pulling for you from here. (Michigan)
I've just been diagnosed with rectal cancer, I will be going through radiation and chemo before surgery. I'm terrified of the pain and having a colostomy bag. My doctor said to be prepared for the next year of this, I need help preparing so I think I will make a call to the Canadian Cancer Society to point me in the right direction. I wish all the best to you in your journey and to us all who have to fight cancer in all it's invasive forms.
Firstly, we are so sorry you are having to go through this, it sucks in so many ways. I understand your fears of pain and surgery. What I do know is that they are getting so much better at these treatments and managing the side effects. Ask lots of questions of your oncologist and the oncology nurses. They are a wealth of information. From a nursing perspective I have helped lots of patients with colostomies and yes its a huge adjustment but once they learn how to mange it they all did wonderfully. So I know you can do it too. We have lots more to share with you about our journey and hope to help you along the way. Please keep in touch, stay positive and think healthy thoughts it does matter. You can do this!
Although I don’t personally know your beliefs but when I was battling my cancer (complete full hysterectomy before reaching menopause and it was an urgent surgery and my Mom was dying at the same time. I never told her either) . I was unable to think or breathe. This gave me comfort when I didn’t know what to pray: Be strong and of good courage. Do not fear nor be afraid. For the Lord your God, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Everything you are feeling is completely normal and understandable. My heart goes out to you Sending all good thoughts and healing prayers. God bless you all.

Denise, you are a strong and compassionate lady. I have a son who has a congenital condition that requires lots of medical intervention. I live in USA and we don’t have to wait for tests and treatment. However, over the years I have had my fair share of dealing with different life threatening issues, and have learned that you have to be very aggressive to get what you need...you aren’t going to be the best liked, but you have to make a fuss sometimes. You should not have to wait for your tests. Go raise bloody he’ll until you get them....

I have a friend who has had 3 different cancers in the past 30 years. Cancer is so much more treatable or controllable these days. Rant away, sweetheart, get the anger out of you any way you can. Waited awhile before I could let myself watch this diagnosis video, especially when I realized that no updates has popped up on my CZcams list. I hope your treatments are going well and I've sent prayers up for you. My mother was diagnosed with a rare form of bone marrow cancer just as the pandemic started and of course my sisters and I went right online to read about it. We were disheartened by the less-than-hopeful things we were reading. Can I say that within months of this diagnosis DURING the height of the pandemic traveling back and forth to Boston got her in remission almost immediately! Don't lose hope! Cancer treatments grow by leaps and bounds every single day. God bless you Denise, and your family.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry you are having to go through this. While I did not have breast cancer, when I was 25, with 2 small children, I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. I had 2 surgeries and radiation….I remember getting the call, and how scary it was-so many questions (why? Am I going to die? What about my family? What’s going to happen?) and fear of the unknown road ahead. I ended up in heart failure 7 years ago due to effects from my treatment (I will be 45 next week) and yet I survive!!! I work, enjoy activities, travel! In my RV, and breathe in all life has to offer. I know you are scared for your family and yourself. Make sure to take care of your mind also……a positive mindset is a game changer. I pray for strength and courage for you on your journey and know I’m for one, am cheering for you at this starting line and will be jumping up and down for you at the finish. Hugs from the USA

I'm so sorry. Sending a virtual hug and barrels of hope. I'm in the States and the lack of control is a frustrating as in Canada. Diagnosis to treatment plan took months. As you already know, you're on a rollercoaster ride and not at the controls. Take deep breaths and hold tight.

Hi Denise, I was in your shoes last summer (2021). We live in Quebec. Similar health system. I am 100% in agreement with @RickCampbell comment: Squeaky wheel gets the grease... preservere on calling - we were able to show up in person - until you get specific dates for your tests. Stay on top...politely push the hell out of them as far as you can. That's what we did and thankfully it worked!
My experience : Breast cancer relapse after 21 years.😬😥 Initial mammogram on May 21, Ultrasound on June 21, Biopsy on June 22, Diagnosis confirmed on July 13, we met with plastic surgeon on August 2 and with oncologist on August 9. Double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (Diep) was on September 9, 2021.
I can relate to your not wanting to worry your family but they are stronger than you think and they love you dearly. Please allow them the privilege to give back to you all the tender care that you've shown them over the years. Both my daughters and my son were such a comfort for me throughout this process and in my recovery. We have 3 yr old twin grandsons that were a ray of sunshine for me in these dark times.
Waiting and uncertainty is so hard. 😔 I sympathize and wish you you a speedy process in your treatment. Keep your chin up. A positive attitude is half the battle. You are a warrior! Please keep sharing your journey. You are always in my thoughts. Big hugs! 💖💕

We lost Kory's mom to uterine cancer the day we found out we were pregnant with Courtney ( we did get to tell her and she squeezed our hands, she knew) and my mom had breast cancer too and has been free for about 24 yrs so we are scared but we are positive. I was diagnosed March 8th, 2022. I start treatment June 27th. I was scared & now scared of treatment. I am going through this alone. I don't have family help or support. I am glad you have support and help.
It's a scary time, we know and understand. We also know that it will be ok. It is hard to keep everything sorted out, appointments, medications to take before chemo, medications to take after chemo, how to handle side effects. Make sure you are writing it all down and we hope you might have some friends around for help or some cancer agencies have buddy programs, ask about these. You CAN do this. Denise , as a retired oncology nurse I understand your fears and frustrations. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in feb. of 2020 and because of Covid I could not have my surgery and after 5 months I reluctantly went to an inferior hospital and had a lousy surgeon who was very cavalier. My cancer was not aggressive and I opted to refuse radiation or further surgery. Thankfully you have wonderful support, I am a widow with little to no support but I am still here taking life a day at a time.

Thank you for your thoughts but since no one is sure where we will go after we are really focusing on fighting, beating cancer and making the most of the life we have not so much on death or dying.
Denise, dear, I’m sorry your diagnosis is scary and I am sending your a tight virtual hug hoping to comfort you a bit. I had an aggressive and rare type of cancer. A type of cancer that never, or rarely, affects women, specially women under 75 years of age and I was 55 when I got my diagnosis three years ago. I had what is seen mostly as a male type of urinary system cancer that seems to be growing in women. It was spreading too and they started with chemo before they could decide which way the treatment would go... chemo is a good start for most cancers and I hope you will take that. I know how frustrating the seemingly slow public system can be... I’m in Norway and we have a full public health system here with the same egalitarian logic and I also support it fully. It works well for most people. My suggestion, trust, trust life, trust the process, try not to get too anxious because stress is terrible for the treatments and can cause extra side effects. I know it is easier said than done, but just try...it is scary dear, I’ve been there, I am still picking up the pieces of my life after my treatments but I’m here and so far I’m cancer free. Try to keep positive.

I've just been diagnosed with rectal cancer, I will be going through radiation and chemo before surgery. I'm terrified of the pain and having a colostomy bag. My doctor said to be prepared for the next year of this, I need help preparing so I think I will make a call to the Canadian Cancer Society to point me in the right direction. I wish all the best to you in your journey and to us all who have to fight cancer in all it's invasive forms.
Firstly, we are so sorry you are having to go through this, it sucks in so many ways. I understand your fears of pain and surgery. What I do know is that they are getting so much better at these treatments and managing the side effects. Ask lots of questions of your oncologist and the oncology nurses. They are a wealth of information. From a nursing perspective I have helped lots of patients with colostomies and yes its a huge adjustment but once they learn how to mange it they all did wonderfully. So I know you can do it too. We have lots more to share with you about our journey and hope to help you along the way. Please keep in touch, stay positive and think healthy thoughts it does matter. You can do this!

Although I don’t personally know your beliefs but when I was battling my cancer (complete full hysterectomy before reaching menopause and it was an urgent surgery and my Mom was dying at the same time. I never told her either) . I was unable to think or breathe. This gave me comfort when I didn’t know what to pray:
Be strong and of good courage. Do not fear nor be afraid. For the Lord your God, He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Everything you are feeling is completely normal and understandable. My heart goes out to you

Denise, you are a strong and compassionate lady. I have a son who has a congenital condition that requires lots of medical intervention. I live in USA and we don’t have to wait for tests and treatment. However, over the years I have had my fair share of dealing with different life threatening issues, and have learned that you have to be very aggressive to get what you need...you aren’t going to be the best liked, but you have to make a fuss sometimes. You should not have to wait for your tests. Go raise bloody he’ll until you get them....

Waited awhile before I could let myself watch this diagnosis video, especially when I realized that no updates has popped up on my CZcams list. I hope your treatments are going well and I've sent prayers up for you. My mother was diagnosed with a rare form of bone marrow cancer just as the pandemic started and of course my sisters and I went right online to read about it. We were disheartened by the less-than-hopeful things we were reading. Can I say that within months of this diagnosis DURING the height of the pandemic traveling back and forth to Boston got her in remission almost immediately! Don't lose hope! Cancer treatments grow by leaps and bounds every single day. God bless you Denise, and your family.

So nice of you and we appreciate it. There is so much to update you on I just haven't been able to edit. I will get the videos out there but we are also planning to do a Live so that we can chat and get everyone up to speed on all of the changes and craziness going on in our family, its all just so unbelievable and hard to explain. I’m so sorry for you. I will be praying for you all the time. I have a friend that had breast cancer stage four Very active cancer she had and she is still here doing fine. Like I said I will be praying for you a lot. Plus I will be praying for your family.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry you are having to go through this. While I did not have breast cancer, when I was 25, with 2 small children, I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. I had 2 surgeries and radiation….I remember getting the call, and how scary it was-so many questions (why? Am I going to die? What about my family? What’s going to happen?) and fear of the unknown road ahead. I ended up in heart failure 7 years ago due to effects from my treatment (I will be 45 next week) and yet I survive!!! I work, enjoy activities, travel! In my RV, and breathe in all life has to offer.
I know you are scared for your family and yourself. Make sure to take care of your mind also……a positive mindset is a game changer. I pray for strength and courage for you on your journey and know I’m for one, am cheering for you at this starting line and will be jumping up and down for you at the finish. Hugs from the USA
Wow, you have been scared too. I hear you and I am so glad to know you have been doing so well. Long term effects are something we are concerned about too but the years you have had in between are what we are focused on at the moment. We are very positive people and are working hard at maintaining that. Although it seems far away at the moment we know we will make it to the finish line and there will be a BIG PARTY. Look at you trying to help others. This is so tough I’m going through it too since before Christmas and I know how you feel.
Helping others is my comfort zone. As a previous RN for 22 yrs its just in me. It is really tough though and I hope you are managing it ok? Hang in there with us and we can go through it together.

Don’t hide your rant. Seeing the scary side helps. If nothing else it tells me I need to get my mammogram done sooner than later. My prayers keep coming to you and your family. Cancer is an ugly word. But you are beautiful.
