You should build up your old BMX frame with this setup.

Do get those brake sensors on at least. In practice, the pedal sensing is like half a second slow to stop engaging the motor when you stop pedaling. The brake lever sensor is an instant cutoff, so if you need to stop suddenly you'll need it. It is also a huge help for commuting if you're waiting at a stop light and pedal forward without thinking -- holding the brake will keep it from taking off.
And yeah the thumb throttle is pressure sensitive, starts kind of high but goes harder the more you push.

I'm actually building a cargo bike with one atm !!
Just if you do one, do it kind of right : get a shift sensor, it will save you drivetrains :'), put the battery the right way, in this setup, the battery will destroy the plastic where the lock is resting, buy a programing cable and reprogram the controller so the level of assistance are actually differents and useful, and lastly make it kind of clean ! :)

I have an Fx3 Disc Large that i just setup for bikepacking. Ive been wanting to a kit for it and there is no videos out there with an FX3 for a middrive... Kinda bummed now. Hub motors dont work because i have thru axles. ANd the middgrive is what i want but this mean i have to destroy my bottom bracket. The other thing i wonfer is how heavy the setup is. What weight it all is so that counts towards how much stuff i can pack. And if im touring how much harder is pedaling when not using the motor. Because im looking at 50 mile trips with no recharges. So alot of it would be pedal only. I want the ebike for my commute to work everyday. And for a little boost on hills only when im touring.

Moreover, while it is very much fun when it is new....the motor conked on me...around 1500 kms... it must have eaten the nylon gears and at that point I got rid of it. What the shop that installed it was asking me for repair/replacement, I did not think it was worth the $$$. Of course, I could have taken it apart and changed the worn out gears but, at that stage, I decided to switch to a hub motor setup. Way more reliable BUT, not without its compromises.... hub gears also require maintenance... water seeps inside, rust etc... I say, conventional bike it is.

Great to see you experimenting! You could try and make the fastest bike possible with one of these kits. Cheap old carbon frame with skinny tyres, budget aero bolt on bars, tape up your helmet, lycra and an air strip. It's a bit different from your normal video but could get loads of views.

based on this you have obviously never tried one... it just gets you rolling in the lower settings , it by no means does the work once you get up above a certain speed in any given gear you out perform the motor in the lower settings (helps conserve battery for giant hills when you ride it that way). 80K ride today and i burned almost 3000 calories... my goal is to return with as much battery as possible.
Also i can't speak for others with ebikes - but for my health issues , its the difference between being able to bike , and not ... soooo its a no brainer.
if you were talking to spinny... i don't think there is any chance of him being lazy and fat - he bikes for a living!
