How to swap out Arrma Grom differential

- In this installment we are performing a differential repair on our Arrma Grom 1/16 scale RC Basher. There is an upgrade Arrma differential kit with metal instead of plastic axle collars. However they are on back order.
So I am going to show you all how to swap the broken rear differential into the front to make the Grom a rear wheel drive drifting machine.
I hope this video is fairly entertaining and is helpful if you are running into the same problem.

Great video for getting into the diffs...saved me a ton of time. Inner plastic cup sheered off on mine at the inner part where it locks in. Biting the bullet and gonna order the metal ones. If I remember I'll post back with how they compare.

Our rear diff failed as well. That plastic drive cup shears. Hopefully the metal ones will last! We also had a pin shear on one of the driveshafts too. That was kind of surprising considering it is a plastic drive cup. We have to order the driveshaft now before we can go back out and bash the little guy.
It seems like it’s been out long enough for the aftermarket to get caught up. I ended up getting a new diff at the hobby store I purchased mine from, under warranty, but it still has plastic couplers. But it seems to hold up better when it’s warm out.
Good luck to you! I still have to put a rear shock tower on our 1/10 version of the Granite. 👍 it’s definitely worth it due to the joy these vehicles bring to whoever is pulling the throttle trigger!
This was super helpful. My lil Grom is only about a week old and I killed the rear diff at the skate park. And I lost my receipt!

Great video!! Subbed! Go slow with the power tools if the threads heat up u can melt the plastic when the screw is coming out. U can use em but go slow.

I also appreciate the tip on not heating up the plastic threads from the friction heat caused by unscrewing too fast with the screw gun.

I am just looking at replacing these diffs but will not bother buying the plastic as will most likely break again, so waiting to get the full metal. Apparently the differential breaks quite often on these.
At some point the aftermarket will catch up with the demand . I was able to warranty mine out, it was still the plastic one though .
Just replaced the rear diff; still no rear power; the rear left tire spins freely. Thoughts?
Yes by the sounds of your description; there are also plastic couplers on the outer axle shafts that are plastic as well that can also break.
If you look up on CZcams there was a video I watched that shows updated axles with metal outer hub/ couplings and aluminum wheel hexes.
Last I checked they were not available on line. But if there is a Hobby shop near you that sells Arrma they may have the stock pieces?
Ps the wheel hexes are Fastened on with an outer center screws.

Doubled check and put a diff in and its working fine now.

I ended up going back to the hobby store I purchased the grom from and they had one in stock and parts warrantied it. But its still has plastic sleeves. Im not driving it in the cold for now

You will break your differential because you jump your car

They break because they're poorly made. They replaced mine for free why would they do that if they didn't know they put out junk.
