I mentally added a "DING, DING, DING, DING" in the background because his health was so low.

Cool
I'll just go ahead and cross this one off my wish list
Oh, hey Dookieshed haha

Hi ho dookie
THE DOOKINATOR
This is my favorite Zelda pre-BotW.
I think it's impressive that he can make vocals sound 8-bit.
now i hear it
Been listening to this guy for the last half hour. Talent makes me proud to be human. Loved this.

Faith in Humanity restored
***** Until reminded about Kim Kardashian, like seriously why do we idolize her?
Leveling up Attack first when you're down to less than 8 HP, that takes some balls right there, boy, baby, I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what.
That not-so-subtle teabag after leveling too
Totally was thinking that. King move
They seriously need to bring this song back in future games.
Yeah, because one of the first games I played was Melee I actually thought this was THE Zelda song.
Well it IS in super smash bros Brawl, in adventure mode.
Yes ! Give me an orchestrated version in SSB4 !
Lonnie Ledford And Melee
an awesome remix of this song is used for shadow link fights in link between worlds
Never dis on Zelda 2 being bad.
If it wasn't for Zelda 2, We would never have gotten one of the best stages in Smash Bros.
and half if not all of link's moves
Dexlogic i can only think of 2, and they changed one of them in smash 4. >.>
theres his down a his up a in the air and alsothe fact that you can kind of stand there and use your shield without presing the shield button from projectiles
his up air was changed slightly in terms of animation, and no longer looks like the zelda 2 move. toon link has that animation now.
the shield blocking projectiles has been in every 2d zelda game, including the first one. you don't press a button for it in that game, it's just always there.
and 2 moves and a passive effect are hardly "half, if not all." =P
Zelda 2 is more difficult than Dark Souls.
not much of an accomplishment, nes games were like that
Gaming With Gabe well, zelda 2 was actually my first zelda, so when I went from that to the original it didn't feel that bad.
Indeed it is! I had this for my NES before I had the 1st one. Then I picked up both for the GBA later on. I liked Zelda more, but I do like Zelda II a lot. Very underrated game.
zelda 2 is easy.
I actually found Zelda to be harder than Zelda 2... Maybe because im not used to randomly scorching trees for no reason to find treasure.
for me, one of the most underrated Zelda. And what a pity, great game !
great game, but hard
indeed... I always liked this one, but it's HARD AS FUCK! Also, Zelda has gone to shit since Ocarina of Time. Zelda 3 is the best
***** twilight princess was pretty fucking awesome, and the 3ds zelda a link between worlds was pretty good too
Ulysses Sanchez WW?
Ulysses Sanchez no, twilight princess was like a shitty attempt at redoing Dark World in 3D. There were parts of it I liked quite a bit, like the fact that you could learn new fighting techniques... But what made it suck is how they implemented those new fighting techniques. They over-simplified the hell out of it to where all you have to do is press one single button at the right time when you see your sword glowing green... I want a more complex fighting system. I want battles that actually feel like battles... battles that are actually somewhat difficult. And fuck all that wolf crap, that was annoying.
I can't comment on the others because twilight princess was and will be the last one I'll play because I'm not buying a wii or a wii-u or anything else from nintendo ever again.
0:58 - 1:22 HOLY CRAP Smooth just outSmoothed Smooth!
smooth:smooth - smooth:smooth SMOOTH SMOOTH smooth smooth smooth smoothed smooth
Which smooth is doing that? Isn't it added in later? I can't tell.

I was just saying he was amassing at being able to make that
The Hobbitnator You spelled amazing wrong.
Twice...
0:55 had me struggling to believe it was only acapella...
Hopey Olguin I'm still wondering if he did it by himself! :P If so, it's really incredible!
Hopey Olguin I'm not sure it was. I hear a faint guitar plucking arpeggio sound on every 16th note.
bigstudwithaguitar it wasn't a guitar! One of their voices was insink with another.
onemario1234 Yes, looks like middle left and top right
Hopey Olguin *AHEM*........."ONLY acapella"?
My favorite part is when he says "Bah"
my favorite part is when he plays with his cat
Sooo Originalll!
SOOO OOOORIGINAAAAL
XD :v
nah, I prefer the part wher he goes 'dum'
This song is the best part of Zelda 2 that and "I AM ERROR"
yes 😂
There's also a character named "Bug" in the game but it was mistranslated as "Bagu".
Kitty I always wish it had been mistranslated as bagel. "I AM BAGEL"
I sang along with Brentalfloss' lyrics to this in my mind while listening.
Hahah so true XD
I sing along to Smooth's lyrics while listening to these.
I think a lot if people did that allso
I sing along so much I get notices from my neighbors. They notice how great these are.
I think in the NES original version the Brentalfloss lyrics are there. You just have to listen carefully.
I am error...
up the shut
Awesomeness. This is one of my all-time favorite vgm compositions. But there's no way you sung those 16th notes from 0:55 - 1:20 that accurately. Not that I'm complaining -- a very appropriate use of editing tools, I think. It sounds great! Reminds me of that blue alien opera singer from the 5th Element :)
he did it in sync with another voice look at middle left and top right
@@chobochobus Oh yeah, those offset 16th notes? Very clever. I still wish I could see his audio session. It's not impossible, and he totally might have done this without any pitching/quantizing. I'm just curious. High-level musicianship blows me away; and I'm always curious to see people pushing the boundaries. I wish I could ask him. Or see his audio session!
Either way, still a great recording.
@@aarongrooves 100% quantized. i can hear it. it's siq but it is too perfect to not be quantized
i gotta say its not often i see someone replying to a comment after 6 years lulul, love ur work btw it was a pleasant surprise seeing ur comment here :0

Oh man!!! The nostalgia! Not of playing Link's Adventure, I mean playing Smash on Hyrule Castle :D
Thought exactly the same 😛
Ikr!!
You mean Hyrule Temple?
Yes, silly me :3
Oops didn't notice either
this is perfect timing, i actually just beat zelda II for the first time yesterday! this song has been burned into my brain. that and the game over sound...
and judging by the comments i seem to be the only person who liked this game...
Videa James
actually, a lot of people liked this game, it's just some people parrot blind hate for it, having not played it, or couldn't handle the fact that it wasn't like the first zelda game, (or in a number of cases, the "zelda formula") or they get frustrated at not being spoonfed by the game...the list of silly reasons to hate it goes on for miles. This was my favorite zelda game growing up, admittedly the farthest I ever got was getting the hammer, but now that I understand that grinding and farming exist in the game, and the easiest ways to deal with enemies, it's really nowhere near as hard, and I got as far as I did through my entire childhood in a single night.
Videa James hey, I liked it too. It was kinda weird as a Zelda game, and maybe a tad too difficult, but I loved the mix between platforming and the classic RPG map roaming.
Dustin Sylvester
True, Zelda 2 didn't entirely follow the "Zelda formula" but it was a pretty competent sidescrolling hack-and-slash platformer in its own right ... not to mention righteously difficult.
(It's kinda like how Star Fox Adventures gets a bad rap for deviating from the "StarFox formula"....)
"Conglaturation !!! You have completed a great game. And prooved the justice of our culture. Now go and rest our heroes !"
lol, but no, seriously. Congrats, you deserve a cookie. That game is &$#$^@ hard. xD
I remember this song from Super Smash Bros. Melee.... Ah good times and the best map!
I love that map and with the music made it a great
The nostalgia
That game was fucking hard
I still have a copy. :). Games these days hold your hand way to much.
*cough* Ninja Gaiden 2, Dark Souls 3, Super Meat Boy *cough*
Ninja Gaiden 2 wasn't that hard to me. and the darksouls series is usually generally pretty challenging, but all i'm saying is that video games aren't as hard as they use to be. take Aladdin, a nightmare on elm street, friday the 13th, Lion King, and Jungle Book for example. Even the Ooze. Hell, even Dragon Warrior. Dragon Warrior you had to grind for hours, or you had your ass handed to you.
well grinding and being hard from bad controls (Friday) doesn't necessarily count as "challenge" all I'm saying is not all today's games are easy and I can even say that alot of old school games sent challenging either my opinion tho
Save all the 1-up dolls for the very end, do NOT touch them before!
at 2:00,
How did he kill one of those skull-ghost things?
IMPOSSIBRUUUUUU!!!!!!!
+MindMeme you can kill them, it takes like 50 hits I think, can't remember the exact amount.
LicketySplit I remember counting at least 100 last time I tried. I gave up too. That was one of those times I had to rethink why I played video games.
+MindMeme I prefer avoid them, kill them is... hard!
+Eytox They're great experience for early levels though
I depends on your attack level. They have extremely high base HP, but once you get downthrust it's actually easy and worthwhile to kill them as they give good XP!
*sigh*
The only Zelda game I've never beat -_-
Even difficulty aside, I found it fairly boring as well
A comment.
jayvir6 Its okay, you should not count this as a real zelda game, even miyamoto said he disliked it...
Wow. That's no small feat to come by. Why is it the only one you've beaten?
Is it weird that I've never beaten any Zelda game? for context I grew up with the Super Nintendo and N64 and my brothers beat all those Zelda games, and I've actually watched them both beat ALLTP, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask separately, more than once.
As such growing up with it (at very developmental and impressionable times, in addition to them being such memorable and amazingly revolutionary games at the time) I still cite them as some of my favorite games and there's nothing that can beat the nostalgia of seeing Ocarina of Time played.
But I still haven't actually gotten around to beating any myself. I got pretty close with LoZ, Halfway with ALLTP, I got like 60-70 percent done OOT and MM on multiple occasions but I never finished any of them. Actually the game I'd consider the spiritual successor to Ocarina of Time (Ookami), I've never ended up finishing either.
I don't know if I should make the effort to go back and finish them or not.
Oh, so this is where the temple theme is from lolo.
I always wondered...
Smash Bros killed our minds haha
smh kids

I cant believe thats actually your voice going so high... its unbelievable how its sounds... Great job bruh.
This is ridiculously unbelievable.
I know this would be hard to do, but an acapella of Gusty Garden Galaxy would be freaking amazing! ♪
Gusty Garden WHERE?!
YES that would be amazing
Still my favorite Zelda game in the series! And this is one of the best songs, truly amazing!
Really? It’s like my least favorite game, but the soundtrack almost makes up for it and my nostalgia to it
@@ninjafrog1559 my favorite one is the Zelda 2 Palace Theme Xtrullor Remix
Who the hell has the nerve to place a dislike on this?? Jealous teenagers obviously... I am 49 and OMG this man is amazing...do you realize how much work this took?? Just to remind me of the FANTASTIC time I had playing this game. LOL! THANK YOU...you are fantastic!
Holy crap dude. Much respect for your arrangement skills. It can't be easy to sync and create all those parts into one song, let alone perform them. Mad props
That syncopation with the 16th notes is INCREDIBLE!
+1 for using musical terms. Seriously, though, that was really good.
***** "Musical terms?" ...that's pretty basic terminology for a musician!
flyforce16
Well yeah, but it's still more than I'd expect from just a CZcams comment. Not everyone's a musician.
***** Fair enough - you are right! I can be a bit snobbish about these things as someone who plays the viola and violin, but that's no excuse for condescension. I like your avatar, by the way!
flyforce16 Cool, a string player! I'm a saxophonist myself, although I do play electric bass and dabble in upright. I think the more impressive thing about this syncopation is that he was able to record those not only syncopated, but as 16th notes at that tempo. That would throw most people off. I'm interested to know how many takes that took.
Whoa, wait, hold on a sec! This amazing soundtrack is from _this_ Zelda game :O
(So, emphasis on the _this_ so you dumbasses might understand I knew it came from _a_ Zelda game, just not which one.)
Kyler
I never played any Zelda game :I
I know this song from Super Smash Bros Melee.
***** And the level that has that song is zelda themed
It's very different from the other Zelda games, and it's a lot more difficult than most if the Zelda games, but it is still a real fun game to play. Look for an emulator and the rom for this game and try it out.
Sergio Payan
No shit. But how in the love of Charl was I supposed to know that it was from this Zelda game?
Dude every level has a song fro their game not w different one
This song is so repetitive, but I love it, is like the artist was like ''I can only do a 30 seconds long song so at least I should make it catchy
William Rowe You are welcome, Dan.
Now, let's get back to our normal rutine.
PA-PA-PA PAPA.

PA-PA-PA PAPA.
pa pa pa
That's how most music was composed for the NES and Famicom, due to space left on the cart after graphics and programming. Makes it even more impressive I think
thatsimonpeter Yeh, I know, and I think so too. I cant imagine how hard is doing a song in those circunstances. Specially with the preassure, I mean, songs are really important, nobody is going to play if its a bad song or annoying and they're going to hear it all the time
UriclubTK Except it's a minute and a half long (with repeating bridge sections, granted, but they serve to let your ears rest). I don't find it repetitive at all and could listen to it for hours, personally! Zelda 1's dungeon music, on the other hand, though very moody I find incredibly grating after a while. It's only 20 seconds long and has constant fucking arpeggios... Luckily you don't spend too long in the dungeons.
SiGhast I dont know why I find it so repetitive, but yeah, you are right. Also, Zelda was always (almost always) fucking amazing with music, not like other unknown games (I'm looking at you, Exist.)
0:55 is my fav. When I was a kid I use to play this game on the intro and this temple on constant repeat while I would draw. Perfection!!!
Ha, just a few minutes ago I was doing the dishes and suddenly was like "Hey, Smooth should upload his new video soon..."
_And there was light_
Hardest Legend of Zelda, no contest.
I started playing it again yesterday, already at the final level but it's so ridiculously hard to beat! Short game but can drive you insane, and that's if you already know how to do everything! I pity the 7 year old that got this when it came out haha
oh yeah, easily the hardest in my opinion.
Damn still impresses the hell out of me when you do that fast bit!
I like how it also shows the game in most of them. This guy is AWESOME! He has mad skills.
Who the fuck is this Ling? Rink? I can't even remember his name, I don't want to play as Dink, I want to play as Zelda like always! ~winky face~
What if Zelda was a girl?
Yes, what if.
-_- i hope your a troll...

Holy cow! This is one of my favorite games of all time! This is a fantastic rendition of this song!
Hype!
such excite! much wow
Haha! I'm glad that not everyone hates this game!
Thorchopsbro I'm very challenge oriented... so as a kid, beating this was one of my greatest achievements! When the internet took hold and I heard what the general population thought, I was so sad!
This and Shadowgate are my biggest conquests from that gaming age. Though Shadowgate took until I was in my 20's... heh.
I love it as well. Definitely an underrated gem.
Finally, someone who agrees! This is probably in my top five fav games of all time, including pokemon XD: gale of darkness, and Plants Vs. Zombies, minecraft, and pikmin 3.
Everytime I hear this it brings back great memories of the gamecube and smash bros melee
Thanks to gamegrumps i cant stop going : do do do do do.....so stupid

Pooh Hardy Thanks to Brentalfloss, I can't stop singing the "lyrics" to this song.

I came here for the dancing cat & Zelda 2, stayed for Smooth McGroove.
omg so goood
Reminds me of being a kid playing this game. I was always interested in the music and often tried to pick it a part in my mind. Great job Smooth! Glad someone was able to dissect this song.
Wow this is exactly how it sounded like in my dream last night...I CAN SEE THE FUTURE!!
Don't care what anyone says, but this is one of my favorite games in the series ;)
Me too. I speedrun it. *Shameless plug* lol I have a tutorial and a New game+ run at 43 mins on my channel. This video is amazing btw, I would like someone to make a hack with this as the music lol
Love the precision! Gave me goosebumps. Can't stop listening to it
SO CLEAN! Trance like even...
Sometimes I wonder if the videos of him that we see are actually live caps of the song he's recording, or if he makes the audio tracks beforehand and records himself after strictly for theatrics. It's amazing either way, but if he honestly is able to maintain that sort of focus and perfection while making faces and playing with his cat, that's ridiculous. When the hell does he even breathe on some of these tracks??? Smooth is the man.
Well first off he's literally jesus. And second of all yes.
I can already tell you by the way his voice changes into smurf mode on the high pitches that he completely edited these tracks. As you do not hear any heavy breathing and other forms of noise from his cat, he completely edits it. I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't sing just one part of it. This clip is only for show.
ShibbyDaisy Well, there is no doubt that a degree of post production goes into these mixes. Editing is a part of all professional music. I'm a little confused what you mean by "smurf mode," however. You're suggesting that he digitally altered the pitch of his voice or used autotune? There's probably a little compression and reverb, but I'm fairly certain that's just his actual falsetto. I'm not blowing my own horn here (as I'm nowhere NEAR as talented as him), but I'm capable of reaching most of those ranges in falsetto myself--they just wouldn't sound as pretty. I think you're cynically taking a little credit away from the man. Smooth, like any other artist out there, clearly uses some post-production editing tools, but to say he couldn't even "sing just one part of it" might be a bit ludicrous. Whether the videos are just for show or not, I would say with little equivocation--both as an artist and a someone who has produced music--that what we hear is a product of his own vocal chords.
frozenaorta Uhm what other word captures smurf... chipmunk! His voice goes into chipmunk mode. That's not possible when you sing normally. The only way to get it into chipmunk mode is to sing it lower and then try to pitch it higher. It basically means he cannot sing the actual piece, else he wouldn't have done so. He could've chosen to drop the song a little bit, but nope.
The degree of post-production is so high, you cannot call it singing anymore. I even asked him several times just to sing one part live on his streams to convince myself that he has the talent. He has NEVER done so and simply ignored it. He didn't even bother to prove himself. We hear a product of very altered vocal chords; it's as real as Hatsune Miku.
ShibbyDaisy The "chipmunk" or "smurf" tone to which you're referring is know as falsetto--it's when a man uses the upper, pre-pubescent ranges of his vocal chords rather than his full voice. When someone is able to do it well, these amazing pitches you're hearing are perfectly achievable. Listen to some Frankie Valli or The Beach Boys for some early examples of singers making wonderful use of falsetto. As far as your "proof" that he isn't singing because he doesn't respond to your individual request to sing one part live--I don't even know how to address that. Of course he's not going to do that for you personally. That's absolutely absurd.
awesome man
What you have created here is a masterpiece. A challenging peice that sounds like flawlessly executed. Thank you for all these videos. You are a gem beautiful man.
You. Are. AMAZING. It gave me goosebumps how accurate you manage to get the song; it truly brought back so many childhood memories. Thank you.
Never played this game, though I definitely remember this song from both Super Smash Bros Melee as well as Brawl.
I LOVE IT :D
Such an underrated game.
Love how you handled the fast runs in the middle... AWESOME.
Dude I can never get tired of this. Thanks Smooth! You're the man!
I'm tired of clicking the like button every time I watch one his videos. I need an auto-like option.

Well done. I spent many summer days playing this game. If memory serves Zelda 2 has a bunch of catchy beats that I would love to see you perform. Thanks for bringing back the good memories.
Dude you are AWESOME! thank you for making this awesomeness!
Sometimes, when I hear Smooth, he goes so high he sounds like Elmo to me! XD Doesn't mean he's bad though, it,s just WOW! It's amazing how high he can go!
Am I the only person in the world that actually feels Zelda 2 is an enjoyable game to play? Heck, I downloaded it on 3ds so I can relax and power through it.
No, not at all. Zelda 2 is great. Most people hate on it for the dumbest of reasons. It's either too hard. Or it doesn't follow the same formula that all the other Zelda games follow which... by the way... was not yet established, so it couldn't have followed the trend that all other Zeldas followed, since they didn't exist yet.
No, 2 is probably in my top 5 LoZ games. The major reason people complain is because of its "difficulty", which was about on par with some other games of the time. Modern gamers have been pampered too much, that they don't even TRY anymore. It took me less than half an hour as a kid to figure out that attacking midair will kill 99% of all enemies - once you master that, the game is actually very easy.
I don't even know what to do in the beginning of the game, so I never beat it :P
If anyone on thinks this is difficult try getting 100% in xenoblade chronicles. It takes a while normally but 100% takes forever.
i find this game really good, super challenging and fun. i think people hates it because its not a traditional zelda.
I keep coming back for this song XD
I am watching your videos right now and Man you got MAD skills bro! Everything I've seen so far has been wonderful!! this one is one of my favorites because it reminds me of a time when things were simpler
So this is where the song came from. I thought that it came from OoT.
Excuse me for playing through the Adult Timeline only!
*****
He meant the SERIES's adult timeline. That is, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.
FoxPonyShift2013 I have only one question. Why? Do you really play Zelda just for story?
*****
That's not terribly fair. I've beaten OoT within the last year but I still don't have the entire soundtrack memorized.
I can see how he thought that. You can argue that this is audibly similar to the song from Gerudo Valley
Random suggestion that will be buried under the mountain of other suggestions:
Any song from Shovel Knight.
Brilliant! Nice video... memories of many hrs playing this game.
so well done this is dope
0:19 Uhh... Why are you looking at me like that, top McGroove?
Sakurai should use this version of the song in Smash Bros. 4 if Temple of Time stage is returning.
Or we could hack it into Project M with a .brstm :D
Amazing - great job again!
This is definitely one of his best acapellas! I can't get enough of it!
I can't stop hearing Brentalfloss's lyrics to this song whenever I hear it 0_0

Could you make Gaur Plains from Xenoblade?
BTW, Awesome work man!

I've been waiting so long for this...
Holy freaking crap! First time watching your videos, and Jesus Christ that was amazing!
Hey Smooth another great Acapella (Charl obviously imposes some sort of supernatural singing magic upon you)! It would be great if you could do "Strike the Earth" (Plains of Passage)" From Shovel Knight. Thanks for reading. Tacos.
Or "Flying Machine." Thats my favorite

Zelda 2 actually had some of the best music in the series.
nothing like a link to the past for me
I know alot of people hate on this game but skyward sword has some great sound tracks in it
same with wind waker
For me Twilight Princesses has the best music.
Skyward sword says hi.
Each of your videos are quite impressive, and bring back nostalgic memories of bliss experienced with early gaming. I honestly don't know which is more captivating, your display of credible talent, or your display of adorable love and affection for that cat, lol. Either way, I genuinely appreciated these videos you've created.
This is great, I just relived a classic done a-cappella style! Very Well Done!
At first I didnt believe that the part that the faces on the left and right did at :058 was him. It sounded artificial when mixed with everything else. Oh, and great work on this, Smooth.
I loved that game
+raffi3o3 I loved and hated that game.
