    EDIT: THIS VIDEO NOW ONLY APPLIES TO TIME ATTACK!
    BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH THE CLICKBAIT TITLES!!! For real though, big credit to whoever discovered these, because I haven't been able to find who it was :o
    This discovery has been blowing up in the F-Zero Nexus discord server so I wanted to do a quick guide showing people how to do it. Hopefully this isn't a Pandora's box lol. Big shout outs to Chocobosage, Not_riley, and the FZN discord for optimizing these skips too!

    Couple of things to note:
    1) Although I only used clips with the Fire Stingray, these skips are possible with all 4 machines in the game!!
    2) For the first White Land 1 method at 1:36, I said to boost again in the air; this has no effect, you have to boost again WHEN YOU HIT THE GROUND/BEFORE YOU HIT THE PAD! I misspoke :( Sorry for that!

      So basically 10 times harder than we previously thought, got it

    The UFO is just tunnel visioned on one specific spot on the track, muttering to itself " I know where ya gonna land, you aint getting past me". 😂

  • @TempheX
    @TempheX Před 9 měsíci +15

    I think it counts as a Ultra Shortcut just because you are not only reacher further distance, but also skipping the UFO animation.

  • @welon17
    @welon17 Před 9 měsíci +13

    Everything in this game is risk/reward, you don't need skips and at the end you either choose to keep energy and qualify to next race on a low position, or go for the win at the cost of energy and most likely die trying. And everything else branches off that principle.
    I love it, this game is all skill, decision making, and a bit of chaotic luck

      Too bad it seems to be losing players. :/

    • @captaincommando9839
      @captaincommando9839 Před 8 měsíci

      @Rivalseeker grandprix schedule is really asking to lose players.
      Really should only be mini-prixes and grand prixes with pro tracks being added to 99.
      Not a big fan of the "evolving" since its really just abusing glitches to beat skilled players.

    • @Rivalseeker
      @Rivalseeker Před 8 měsíci

      @captaincommando9839 Well, as stated in the video, these shortcuts on WL1 and PT1&2 are barely viable during races with others.
      From my experience, I really only see the well-known big shortcut with the UFO on the PT tracks used consistently because there's way more room for error.

    wow this is actually rad. if someone does this in an actual race, i won't even be mad. just take it. you deserve it.

    The first one doesn't cut out "literally half the course", as you put it. It's a big skip sure but it's not THAT big lol. You're just cutting out one corner and a couple of (pretty short) straight sections. It's closer to maybe 1/5 of the track. You're saving about 4-5 seconds off a lap that takes roughly 26-28 seconds to complete without it. Yes, it's a big skip and still worth it in time trials if you can pull it off, I'm not saying it's not, just pointing out that you're not skipping "literally half the course".

    • @TedbearFZ
      @TedbearFZ  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yeah, I definitely embellished it quite a bit, though I was excited to see such a huge skip hit a snes course like this that wasn't white land 2 lol.

    For the easier Port Town I/II skip how do you ensure it gets you ahead? I've hit it twice & used a boost immediately after the UFO dropped me off, but I ended up in a worse position than when I started. The UFO didn't pick me up right away, I drove a bit before it did, but I'm not sure how to get the UFO to pick me up right away.
    I'm enjoying gradually getting some game knowledge through your videos =)

    I can’t even get consistent height on my jumps. Does pressing up on the d pad make the jump last longer? When should you press down after your jump to maintain speed?

  • @TheBena007

    Do people use these in speedruns of the regular SNES version now as well or does it only work on 99?

    main issue with these skips is you show it successful but when i try it the ufo always gets me, it's incredibly frustrating. i appreciate your formulaic approach though. do you have a still photo of where to hit for white land?

    • @TedbearFZ
      @TedbearFZ  Před 9 měsíci +5

      Not on hand but I can get one in a few hours when im free. Id reccomend to watch the white land 1 skip at .5 speed to see where I am landing more precisely.

    Am I the only one that doesn't like seeing skips like these? This will eventually go from practice mode stunt to required knowledge, and I think a lot of newcomer/casual players will get turned off by this.

    one small note - the wl1 jump is doable without the second boost, the one before the pad, though it makes it much harder
    in other words, game broke :)

  • @tempporary9914
    @tempporary9914 Před 8 měsíci

    I don't care if these were in the OG game, these feel like cheating to me. People are going to use these to basically get "free wins" online, which is stupid and unfair.

    • @Teknanam
      @Teknanam Před 8 měsíci

      I don't think they were in the original game. And most people fail to do these skips. The risk is too high, so its mainly people doing it for kicks rather than trying to win.
      Doesn't matter now though. They got patched yesterday or so it seems. The Port Town skips definitely got patched.

  • @Tanookicatoon

    These are the same short cuts from SNES FZero. Literally anyone whos played this game in 32 years knows these, literally none of this was "discovered" lol

    • @mic5574
      @mic5574 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Since you know so much, you should've noticed that the ufo doesn't reposition the player like it normally would in the snes version. Obviously everybody knew about these shortcuts, the new discovery is finding a way to circumvent repositioning ufo which makes it a major time save.

    • @TedbearFZ
      @TedbearFZ  Před 8 měsíci +2

      as Mic said, these are not the same cuts as what's in SNES. The White Land I skip is literally impossible in SNES because there is no way to reach the other side since you don't gain enough distance on the jump. With the Port Towns, same thing, while you can make the precise jump(s) in SNES (Im pretty sure at least), you get grabbed by the UFO unlike in 99. While I don't have 5 lap runs of the SNES tracks on my channel, I have fast lap video recordings of the Port Towns and White Land I on my channel if you want to see what a run on those tracks looks like (all of them are within the top 10-25 worldwide range.)
