I have been exploring your modules the last couple days Aaron and I am having a great time! Thank you very much for the work you have done and releasing the modules.

The highest compliment I can pay you is to say your modules are musical, period. They are inspirational for creating musical ideas and developing those ideas into useful compositions, and I am hardly a musician but have been in love with musical expression all my life. Technique-argh these sausage fingers won’t bend properly-and my rudimentary musical theory have limited my personal musical expression to things such as generative music, but I am clever enough to mimic performance techniques to at least ‘fake’ musical expression by ‘proper’ musicians. But the idea and the desire is to create and express musical things, that to me is such a deep and human longing that it overcomes the performance/theory hindrances I’ve encountered and have had ro deal with. But to bring it back to you, I am deeply appreciative of your work.

At 2:55, when you select "VCV Rack 2" as an input - that is not an option for me. And I can't get MIDI routed between two VCV Rack instances. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not clear to me which modules are actually included in the Rack 2 Pro version... the website is not explicit about this.

Hi, I'm having trouble seeing how VCV Rack (or any virtual modular) inside Live would be that great. Virtual modular always looks like so much work, without any of the tactile goodness of true modular hardware. It's not like Live (and Max4Live) are missing innovative sequencers and devices. Maybe I just don't want to learn anything new at this point. I guess if you've already spent your 10,000 hours learning and using stand-alone Rack, this might be a good way to produce tracks from existing projects. The few times I played with Rack, I recorded my mixer channels as stems, and then arranged and mixed the audio as a post-production exercise, which is basically what I do with my hardware modular.

"seems like so much work" is your problem right there. Considering a creative process as work and measuring it in hours is limiting yourself and the variety of ideas you can create. Virtual modular is just another possible tool in your toolbox, and the advantage that it brings as a VST over physical modular is that it can now be integrated into a production workflow. It can be saved, templated, presets created etc like any other plugin. Practically I use modular as an idea generator, and my modules are designed around that concept. I open it when I don't have an idea in my head and am just looking for that spark of creativity. Once I've found it I'm falling back to a traditional production workflow to expand upon it, but the advantage of virtual modular is that process is not lost and still available to tweak or provide auxiliary ideas at a later time of my choosing, even if that's months after.
