  • In todays video I install a set of aftermarket tail lights and reflector onto my 2017 Honda Civic LX. These tail lights were purchased from amazon. I will be going through a step by step process on how to detach the stock tail lights and reflector and install the aftermarket parts. I will go through all the challenges and my overall thoughts of the products and let you know if it is worth it. The total install should take about a hour to hour and a half. The tail lights were plug and play and the reflectors have to be spliced into the tail lights.
    Below I will link both tail light and reflector plus some other tail lights for the 10th gen civic that I think will enhance the look of your ride.

    Looks good! I bought the mustang style reflector lights and installed them a week ago. For some reason my running light on the left side stopped working. Great video, I have a 2016 Touring that I bought those reflectors for and side markers etc. I haven't bought the tail lights yet but I'm considering it. I have one suggestion though, I saw you do something that made me nervous, most people are comfortable with it but I'm not. When connecting the reflector wires you stripped the original wires to connect it. I'm afraid of doing that because sometimes buyers don't like anything tampered with when it's being sold. So instead what I did was strip the top of the reflector wires and push them directly into the connectors then plug the connectors back in. They work just the same and u can easily remove them if you need without leaving any evidence of tampering. That's how I prefer to do it, but great video man, thanks alot

      Can you explain this a little better please? I would love to get something like this for my Civic, but I'm terribly afraid of doing anything involving cable work, especially splicing.
      Do you mean after you strip the ends of the reflector wires you plug them into the female end of the wiring harness and then plug the socket back in? And do you put the exposed wire tips into the same prongs as the wires he spliced them to here?

Also wanted to ask did you have to do anything to have your blinkers not hyper flash? I have a 2018 civic touring and it has the front led signal and I replaced the rear with a led bulb and it blinks fast. Just wondering if adding this brake light assembly will cause them to hyper flash.

    I was wondering are the taillights cheaply made since they're only $220 & $290 on the links you posted? I've seen another video of someone else installing similar ones, but they were like $350 on their website. also do these lights ever go bad since there's no light bulbs in them and if they do, how does that work, are you supposed to relace the whole taillight?

    • @sleekauto6008
      @sleekauto6008  Před rokem +1

      I would say the one I installed in the video are quality and have lasted almost two years no problem. I do believe when they begin having issues or the LED lights go out it would be more cost efficient to replace with new ones. But I'm not sure how long they will last. So far so good, the price will vary from place to place as there is different markups. Thank you for the comment!

      It would ultimately depend on a few things, the spoiler and reflectors. The type of spoiler would change the taillight assembly design and some 18 EX models has a wide reflector which wouldn't work with the set up in the video. So the first thing I would try is make sure you have a proper connection with the wires. Make sure the wires your connecting to are completely stripped and then wrap the reflector wire around. The two used in the video are the green socket which is the turn signal and the black socket which is the main taillight power. If you believe these wires are bad then I would look up your cars year and search for a taillight connector pigtail harness. Usually when it doesn't work its just a bad connection.
