Kev, when soldering those small servo wires, use the smallest amount of solder to limit the amount of resistance your adding to the wire đ

in theory it's prity much the same controls as a multyrotor , in practice it's it's a totally different ball game haha not that i have ever flown one i just know a few people who do
If you're serious about learning to fly one get a rc flight simulator and practice there.

I have a 450 and 500. And always thought they were BIG. A 600 is a monster sized heli. Awesome Build! Align Helis fly Amazing. Always wanted to build one with a Glow engine. This might be the Motivation I Needed.

I love building and modifying RC cars almost as much as I enjoy using them. Iâve often thought of building an RC Helicopter just for the fun. But Iâm fairly certain I would never fly it.
Get a vbar Control and a neo. You can Setup the flybarless unit via Radio and has rescue function. Also obviously Nitro govenor and so on.

Kev the rotor pitch values are actually quite important. Each airfoil has an efficiency range, once the pitch because too great you will lose lift and the helicopter will drop like a rock. You are correct that you can correct it in the field while flying. Most guys go crazy tuning the pitch to perfection in order to get the best performance but eyeballing it while flying would still give you the performance you are looking for
I built my first heli in 1982. It was a GMP competitor. I wish we had this equipment back then.
There was a guy that flew a Trex in the local park until one day I found loads of little carbon fibre bits and âAlignâ printed parts on the floor!
Havenât seen him since.

I learnt to fly on a 450 trex, cost me like 2500 euro before I could fly, still can't do inverted, that messes with my head, like your skills on the smaller grasscutters

Ohh and a small dab with 270 locktite is plenty enough on the featheringshaft bolts, that's gone be hell to replace. đ

Hey Kev, check the screw that holds the throttlearm on the carb. On my OS eingine its becoms lose and stayed on fullthrottle till the tank was empty. Not so good for a new engine...

Helicopters were the gateway RC that lead to my full blown RC addiction. Whenever I show someone my collection they inevitably ask, which RC is your favorite? My answer...the next one!
Miss the TT Raptor 30 days......fun on the cheap...... Not the best heli but fun and cheap..... once bought a 49 bb "arf" kit and had it in a hover that night.....damn fun times..... Now im building a third LMH helicopter.....fixed pitch Norvel engine.....love the little fker.....she will be the third LMH in my fleet.....just fun as hell once you understand the little booger....

Also handy tip for the clutch assembly, if you buy a nylon piston stopper that threads into the glow plug hole it'll keep the piston pushed to bottom dead centre to save having to grip the fan with your hands đ€đœ
Also with the governor you've probably used them before but getting a set of blanks so you can essentially connect to a cut wire without soldering, and just crimp new pins onto them. Some instances soldering hinders the feedback through the wire, almost like a bit of a capacitor it stores energy.

Love heli's, ran a 4 FP channel and a 6 CP channel back in the late 90's to mid 2000's and the repair bills were stupid.
Kept the 4 channels but sold the rest.

FYI, if you crash the heli, the body is not going to be your main issue. If the blades just scrape the ground, the whole heli is basically wrecked since most of the inner parts are going to get bent or broken due to the forces applied. And if a blade hits you anywhere in the upperbody area, youll go to the hospital and stay there for pretty long.

Watch for the clutch slipping and heating up if you fly it hard. It will eat that plastic gear box. I put the metal one on mine, gonna try to put a normal liner in the bell too.

Install the Bavarian demon axon flybarlles controller with the captain rescue function.
Brain2 has rescue also.
Vbar with Vcontrol is better đ
@3:55 you put loctite onto a bearing. you should dap a tiny amount into the female thread at most when going through a bearing. Also you can use Dielectric grease on the thrust bearings and any O-rings.
Question, you did you check the ball studs on the swashplate and pitch control arms for threadlock?
