Well there’s also the fact that when a literal bomb was about to go off next to them there really wasn’t enough time for Soap to process what he just had heard. His first instinct was to save what he knew as his ally. I think it clicked in during the rest of the mission when he was being carried.

This has made me realize how unlucky yuri was, bro got jumped by a dog, nearly hit with a chopper, almost got killed by an rpg, almost got killed by bomb, gets sucker punched by price, gets a metal rod stuck in him, then proceeds to fucking die. Bro couldn’t get a single break
I think at first he was very lucky, surviving all of the above outside of the ending ofc was very lucky, ofc he was skilled enough to take advantage of said opportunity to come out alive till there was no other choice.

Atleast he do it for Soap and Price Avenge both him and Soap's death by kill Makarov
i remember the mission just after price punched yuri price was a little cold to yuri saying how he would not wait for him if he got left behind and if you went a little rogue during the gameplay he would yell at you to do as he says it was a nice little detail

For instance, when Soap is abducted by helicopter, he accepts staying behind without hesitation or questioning, not even knowing Price or Soap at that moment. In the end, he dies to save Price. Yuri, you're a true hero. A genuine hero.

I like how Yuri becomes a good guy and redeems himself by saving captain price life but dies afterwards Yuri didn’t know makarov was going to kill a lot of innocent people with a push of a button so that’s why yuri became good and wanted to end his madness he tried to warn the FSB but makarov knew what Yuri was up to that’s why makarov shot Yuri thinking he would die from the bullet wound but survived cause airport security saved his life then he joins task 141
Now if only Yuri could have prevented the whole invasion of America which was the result of that massacre, even if indirectly Yuri still caused several innocent lives to be lost on both sides.
sad thing is he didnt live long enough to see makarov die, but i think he knew he had bought price enough time to recover by sacrificing himself to kill makarov

Yuri’s flashback scene was pretty crazy to see when the game came out originally. Usually the new characters you played as in CoD up to that point were newer recruits with no background to help you identify with them more, that’s also why they were silent up to Black Ops 1. Mason was the first time playable character to have a voice (technically I guess you could say Soap did, but he never talked when you played as him even in MW2), and backstory but he was part of a new storyline with only minimal ties to World at War. Yuri was different because he was a new character added to the end of a trilogy, yet here you find out he’d been there the whole time just barely out of view. I like that they made it so to at he was present for a lot of major events from the first two games yet never had any power to effect them as it made him a more tragic figure, and one you wanted to play as more to help him finally bring Makarov down and atone for his revenge.

There, is actually a plausability for Yuri to be introduced. Modern warfares thing seems to be going to a new(ish) region of the world and introducing our main group to some new local characters. First game we get Farah and her liberation front. Second game we got Alejandro, Rudolfo and Los Vaqueros. If we're going to Russia I think Yuri actually could make an appearance as an Ultranationalist defector who sides with 141. Although i do gotta point out that it seems like 141 is all british in this reboot, which is weird to me cause i thought 141 was supposed to be a multinational spec ops group?
@@minarianimations Price and Soap are scottish, but i'm an asshole and always chalk them up as being brits (at least since they're all apart of the british military) gaz and ghost are both english iirc, and really this time around those are the only named 141 characters we know of. I guess you could count Laswell who's American but she's not really a field agent bar a couple scenes. Vargas, Rudy, Farah, Alex and Nikolai of course are from different nations but they're also not formally members of 141, they're members of other military/merc units. Then of course you got Graves but he's shadow company which of course betray you. Other than that there really isn't any other 141 associates, not even nameless NPC's who fill in a slot. The nameless allies are usually Mexican special forces, shadow company or Farah's army.

Actually most 141's are British, but soap is Scottish, and some others are American..Canadian..irish, and more.
